So interesting to see Fisher at a younger age and how much she changed over the years, becoming more self-assured while developing that acerbic wit. Great stuff.
A great interview with Carrie Fisher. David Letterman was such a class act and loved his honestly on camera and how he spoke directly with his guests...
I remember waiting for the movie as a kid and we all knew it as Revenge of the Jedi .. They had promotional material calling it this and it was changed to Return last minute. I remember thinking 'why did they do that?' I liked the sound of Revenge better than Return. I think I also remember seeing the first trailer and Luke had a blue lightsaber. I don't know if I invented that in my head or not. I know they changed it was originally blue and they changed it to green to contrast against the blue sky of Tatooine. The poster had a blue lightsaber though, I remember that.
Was always perplexed by that original title. I can't think of any Jedi taking revenge in that film except maybe when Luke cuts off Vader's hand in return but that's not framed as a positive at all. Return of the Jedi is stronger because your interpretation of the title changes from before and after you watch the movie, before you see it you think Luke Skywalker the Jedi will return and give the Empire a piece of his mind but afterwards you realise that the Jedi actually returning is Anakin Skywalker.
I was watching Risky Business [classic] last night I’d put Rebecca De Mornay in there along with Michelle Pfeiffer. If had to pick though from ‘83 it would be Carrie
What an incredible aura this woman possessed. And this is one of her mellower appearances. But she just entices you with those gorgeous eyes and her obvious intelligence and humor.
She was so subdued here, I think most people know why, but still, the contrast to how she was later in life is still striking. Her wit was always razor sharpe though
Interesting that Dave says he's sorry he screwed up the name of the movie, because he didn't in the clip. He clearly, properly, says Return Of The Jedi. Also when Carrie mentions that the mistake Dave made was calling it Revenge Of The Jedi, which was the original name of the movie before being changed to Return Of The Jedi. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that Dave, (apparently in footage that was edited out) errantly said Revenge, or if Dave and the staff had outdated information? And yes, as stated below, she was lovely.
I’m sure you have led a perfect life, never having done anything YOU shouldn’t have been doing. But you forget about that when you have the opportunity to bash someone else for their actions. Sit down and stfu, hypocrite.
She was witty and dry as. Beautiful. Intelligent. RIP.
Love her voice.
The talk about the prequels back then had a different meaning, she was lovely by the way

The real and unique Princess .
What a terrific human being. I am fortunate, that I got to hear her speak once, at a convention.

She is soo Sophisticated 😍😍
I would have been 12 when I watched this back in May of 1983. And yes, I did.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well, of course! "Late Night.." & you ARE the midnight*rider
she is the coolest
What a great woman she was. So funny, so down to earth so everything I like.
The whole "revenge" vs "return" of the Jedi thing is quite the interesting little debacle there, all things considered!

Carrie Fisher was Beautiful 😍😍😍Lord have mercy!
Toss up between 1983 Carrie Fisher and 1983 Terri Garr as to who I will marry when I invent my time machine.
Teri Garr. We know too much about Carrie. I couldn’t keep up.
Add Jennifer Connely into that mix
I was watching Risky Business [classic] last night I’d put Rebecca De Mornay in there along with Michelle Pfeiffer. If had to pick though from ‘83 it would be Carrie
I would go forward in time first and get some rocking plastic surgery and undetectable synthetic diamonds the size of baseballs.
Jennifer Connelly was 13 in 1983 sicko
What a smooth low sexy feminine voice, her voice harmonics are golden. how could any young man have not been smitten by a young CF.

Yes. Sad to see. Her demons destroyed her

She was so beautyful.
Really a princess.
Beautiful and witty what an amazing woman..
6:38 Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds
I like her darker voice
Those eyes.
the lack of interview chemistry here is intense
Who knew Princess Leia invented teriyaki chicken!
Cool lady
The new Star Wars film 'Talking Little Fuzzy Guys and Laser-Fights' coming soon to a theater near you!
"They're thinking of doing the prequels" Gee I wish they had stopped thinking about doing them
smoking hot sultry voice. phew lucky dave
For an actress her voice carries (!) very badly here. Lets blame the sound engineer....
Valium or Qualudes? 😂
Why not both? It is Carrie Fisher, after all.
She actually seems normal here.

Beautiful and funny woman with a megawatt smile. She had an amusing one woman show called Wishful Drinking that was turned into a film.
