Carrie seems so nervous, quiet & even a little bit shy with putting herself out there....In interviews in later years, she speaks about finding it difficult to be comfortable in her own skin as a young woman....It was good to see her older with such a funny & wicked sense of humour! #R.I.P. Carrie Fisher & your multi-talented mother, Debbie Reynolds. Hollywood & the viewing public have lost another of their last true stars. 😢💔😢
I saw Debbie Reynolds in a restaurant/nightclub in Denver once and she had just a radiant face. She wasn't performing, it looked like she & a bunch of friends were waiting for a table, but she had the movie star quality even then.
This is precious, Johnny Carson interviewing Carrie Fisher. They're both gone now. I admired them because I wanted the social graces of Johnny Carson and I wanted to date Carrie Fisher.
I have one of my late-father's Johnny Carson sports jackets from the '70s. It was in his wardrobe closet, all the way to the right, still in the plastic bag with the cleaner's tag stapled to the paper shoulder protector through the bag. It had last been sent to the cleaner in July of 1989. So the sports jacket waited there, unworn, for over twenty-one years for me to find it. Now, it's an artifact that I'll take out and admire every once in a while.
+Baron Thomas Was? She still is very pretty though. Age doesnt cast you out of the world. Helen Mirren is over 10 years older than her and is still gorgeous at 70.
+Baron Thomas she was always a little odd, which is cool. she looks like another person, though. not dissing,i like her. i'd say,she was very cute, never quite gorgeous,to me. btw,she was married to singer Paul Simon for a short time, many years ago.
I will always love you Carrie Fisher ... our Princess Leia; may your adorable, witty, comedic, tenacious, and peculiar soul find a place to entertain within God's loving embrace. Thank you so much for posting this Know It All Joe; have a Jabba-sized thumbs up.
This was great watching again, I remember watching it when it first aired. You got me started on a Carrie Fisher nostalgia tour now, that will probably lead me straight into Star Wars territory. Yep. But I'm not complainin'!
I just watched "Shampoo" a few days ago. I had never been any sort of fan of hers, and I have only seen her in the original "Star Wars" when it came out in the theater, but she was FANTASTIC in "Shampoo". Just fantastic. She only had a 5-minute scene. She was 19, and it was her first film role, and she was so pitch-perfect.
Carrie was very beautiful in the day but still has a fun personality. She'll always be hot in the iconic metal bikini even the Playboy Bunny outfit on the episode of Laverne and Shirley.
- And she was on an episode of Latrine, & Squirrelly too? - And I thought Star Wars was her only role. - Where like Luke & Darth Vader relation ship where Luke kills Anikan Skywalker when he finds out that as Darth Vader, he was his father . - Then Princess Leah kills her mother when she found out that Chewbacca was her father. - No wonder Carrie walked around always depressed.
Who in the world would give this a thumbs down?? You got to remember nobody knew Carrie Fisher they knew her mom Debbie Reynolds Debbie Reynolds and Johnny Carson were friends Johnny Carson always treated big movie starts at the time children very well but.. I thought it was a great interview .... And yeah Carrie Fisher cute as a bug's ear!
Hello to all the new Star Wars fans checking out these old videos of the original cast. I highly recommend you read Fisher's biography to understand why she acted and sounded the way she did (she was bipolar and didn't know it at the time), and how being the iconic Princess Leia totally messed with her mind (and love life).
The only pleasant thing that comes out of the passing of someone of note. Great clips like this come back up to the surface. A strange thing to be "immortal" in this way, I would think.
Bruce Bromley it's got to be very hard for family. I have no videos of my parents, who are gone now; and I think it would be incredibly painful to see them in video. to see them move and hear their voice and not be able to touch them again would be heart breaking.
BostonRedSoxForever Seeing as I'm a drug counsellor of a better word, dealing with young adults with their addictions and being an ex addict myself then I would be doing a shit job if I didn't see the signs.
I miss Carson, i remember seeing him as a kid....he can make a long interesting conversation out of nothing.!! alot of us took him for granted when we were younger, now we realize what a classy man he was... sure could use him today, instead of all the garbage we have.
+Van PastorMan... yea, today's hosts i find immature & silly. Carson was a Professional entertainer. Antenna t.v. on the Time Warner network will now be broadcasting his show's..... cool
1983 was the year, I was 11 years old and I fell in love with Carrie Fisher and her rousing performance in RoTJ watching at a theatre in London with my school class. RIP Princess.
I was six years old when Star Wars came out, Carrie was my first celebrity crush. I've watched her life over the years, sometimes I didn't check in on her for like five years but was always eventually reminded of her. I think The Empire Strikes Back was her best movie.
No way! A little like Sigourney Weaver maybe..... I SAID; "A LITTLE", MABE !!! Jeeesh, This is when all the vultures usually come out & want to chew you head off. Hence the preemptive strike in my defence.
All this talk about Carrie being wasted in this interview with Carson I think is off-track. Look at some of the other interviews with her on UA-cam. Same gal, same patterns of speech, same mannerisms. She's a trifle nervous here but it doesn't freeze her or incapacitate her. Amazing woman; not everyone stars in a blockbuster hit at age 20 or whatever she was when Star Wars first came out.
So Mad That's just her natural cool low key personality much like Harrison's. Some might even say soft spoken seeking no attention. However in the last 15+years she seems quite the loud mouth lol.
+So Mad that's because she was always coked up. She admitted to it after the first movie they were coked up on the set even. She was coked up and on alcohol in probably all of her interviews which would explain the speech patterns. Cocaine will do that
Well you may be right. I used to do coke myself back in my young musician days. It all depends on how much blow you toot as to how zizzed out you get, how fast you talk, etc. I may be over-defensive about Fisher as I was so smitten with her when the original Star Wars movie came out in 1977. Nothing on her scale obviously, but I was an entertainer (country, country/rock - I worked with Ray Price briefly back in the summer of 1982) and have some empathy with people in that position. I'll say this; if she was high on this Carson show, or on the 2 or 3 Letterman show interviews that are on UA-cam, she performed very well under the influence. Completely cogent, in control of herself, witty, funny, and very attractive. Carrie Fisher was the Complete Package starting at age 19 and personally I think she was just great.
I miss her a lot, she changed my life, she is the angel that protects me and I also feel a great connection with her, she is my princess and I know she suffered a lot but if I were still alive and knew her I would help her in everything, rest in peace Carrie I miss you 😔
It's so funny seeing her head-draped-back-over-the-chair reaction while laughing at something the host says on this show as she does 20+ years later with Craig Ferguson.
probably Doc will be next? He still blows a great show..saw him two years ago with ernie watts.. When I saw bill cosby host, bill had the band stop during the commercials and we had dead air.. maybe bill gave the band downers too just like his girlfriends?

Beautiful person inside and out.
Harrison Ford wasn't a gynecologist but he said he would take a look?
Back than. Yes. Later she was an old, salty bitch.
Uh... no. Screwed up, drug addict with an equally screwed up family. It's amazing she made it as far as she did.
Thanks for sharing the clip. Rest in peace Carrie Fisher.
