This is so timely. I’ve been looking at these the last few days, and I was wondering the difference. I’m trying to figure out where to buy it from. Thanks for the review
Thank you so much for the review. I cannot lie, I went right to Amazon when I saw you using one earlier and yes I put the cheapest one in my cart. I'm going to go back now and see if it is cheap cheap or cheap. Thanks so much for saving me a headache.
I love my Wool Genie. I’ve found that I can hold up to a super bulky skein of yarn. With my current project, my Wool Genie has 2 cakes of 3-weight yarn on the spindle since I’m alternating between the two colors. There’s also room for a third if I wanted.
how you make me laugh!!! I got cheap wood - works for me 😉 Irish/English living in France hoping to stay awake to catch you live 1am here. I think behind that Crochet King is a comic talent the non crochet world will likely never know...ha their loss!
Made that same mistake. Returned and found the original. Huge difference. Thanks for during this video. The knockoff does not have the name on it. Found the original on Etsy.
I bought a Wool Genie from Amazon (UK) recently. It was advertised as an original, even showed a picture of an original. When it arrived, it was a cheap knockoff. Talk about false advertising. That said, it does work and handles a 100g ball of wool just fine. It does what I wanted it to do - keep the yarn away from my naughty cats. When recently making a scarf as a Christmas gift for a friend I used a 300g ball of wool. I put it in a gallon ziplock bag which kept it away from my cats and also kept the wool clean.
I ADORE my two wool jeanies, and want to eventually get more. Thanks for warning me that there was a knock off. I didn't even know. I did see some wooden pendulums on Amazon that are similar, and I wonder how well they work.
I'm a center-pull type, but only just started wondering if I should get something like this just in case. So many versions out everywhere now, and had no idea what was the original. Thanks for reviewing and comparing.
Thanks Mikey for this great (and entertaining) review. Not only am I convinced I NEED a Wool Genie now, but not try to save a few dollars and get a cheap knockoff.
Thank you so much! I was looking at this $16 version vs the wooden version on Amazon. Alexa just told me today that there was a coupon for the wooden one that has been sitting in my cart. 😂I didn’t see the original wool genie on Amazon, I guess I need to look again. 😊
(cough) cheap!! (sneeze) ahhh ahhhhh AAHHHH ch-eeeeep! Ever since purchasing it, i cant live without my "original" wool genie. My go thru fiber is thread, and I have to crochet using the ball from the outside, until it reaches the cardboard core. Wool genie is awesome. I will be careful not to get a knockoff when buying a 2nd one!
I happened upon your channel today and had to subscribe. Your humor and your ease of teaching style hooked me right away (no pun intended). I have a wooden one that I really like but the bulky 6 skeins are a bit too much for it. Do you know if the Wool Jeanie can handle a skein that large?
I bought a Wool genie from their website. I liked it so much that I bought one as a gift for my sister. I also bought a good quality wood one. Quality is what makes the difference.
I have 2 original wool genies and two of the wooden ones from growling. I prefer the wood because the whole contraption is heavier and the plastic wool genie tends to tip over. I like them both.
This came at the best time, I’ve been looking to get one of these and didn’t know the difference. Am wondering if the wood ones also lean due to the magnet, off to do more research. BTW I hope a pattern for that scarf is coming soon. ❤
Ha ha! You a nut! Love ya! I bought a Wool Genie (I refuse to call it Jeannie - just weird - unless Jeannie is the one who invented). I also bought some wooden knock offs from Temu - like them fine. At least, no worries yet. Thanks for some giggles! 😊
Never heard of such a thingamajig. Very cool. Did you say wood? I'd go with wood. It'd probably be heavier but I love wood and maybe the weight of the wood would keep it straight. I'm glad we an still be friends, though!
I searched online for Yarn Genie, and one site came up, but everything seemed greyed out, so I was very hesitant to order from there. Where did you get your Wool Genie?
Could you please tell me where to purchase genuine wool genie? (In the US) The only ones I can find are made in China. They cost from$17 to $22 US dollars plus S&H.. They are all marketed as wool genies. (I thought that would be a brand name) None of them look like they'd be as sturdy as yours.
I love this type of product review because we've all been duped one way or another with crochet tools
You're so funny!!
You bought it Mikey, so we don't have to! Thanks for that. I appreciate the honest review.
I have a wool genie. I waited weeks to get delivery but I don't regret it. Its the best yarn gadget I've ever purchased!
Love this review! The sound he made in the beginning! 😂 and side note, I LOVE this scarf!! ❤
Love this review and all the innuendo. I didn’t know the difference and got the “cheap” one as a Christmas gift.
Cheap motel room with loud neighbours 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I lost my water on that one spit it across the table!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I literally died!! His face was priceless.
The scarf I am wearing is a free pattern: thecrochetcrowd.com/free-red-heart-bitty-stripes-cross-stitch-scarf-diagram-tutorial/

You could gift them to someone you don’t like. 😂
Sounds like a perfect idea.

Omg, i needed to pause this so many times because of i couldn't stop laughing! You're amazing!!! ❤❤
Here for the review but stayed for the innuendos! 😂😂😂
Had my wool jeanie for years still going strong 😊
My cats would have a field day with this! Love the video!

I just got my wool genie and I'm glad I got the name brand - I love it!

Love your scarf! ❤
Where can I purchase a true, original genie, please? I appreciate your review so much

@@rosem6604 I checked them out and it seems the yarn ball clearance is even worse.
Return them. Amazon is great about their returns.
Hi Mikey -- is the good one the one you showed us in June 2023 as you unpacked it and put it together?
Yes, that is the actual/real one.
Love my wool jeanie, was a present from my mum, best gadget ever
I searched online for Yarn Genie, and one site came up, but everything seemed greyed out, so I was very hesitant to order from there. Where did you get your Wool Genie?
Thank you Mikey. REVIEW most appreciated
Great review, thanks for the info! Love your humour 😅
Where is the Wool Genie sold in the USA?
I'm not sure. I m Canadian. I bought it on Amazon.
don't worry - did the same thing but purchased a wooden one and deeply regretted it. I am team Wool Genie forever!!
Can you recommend a yarn winder. I don't want to buy a "cheap knock off" that I will regret ❤
Does this work with the other yarn shapes?
Love the comment "I am allergic to cheap" 😂😂😂❤

I got mine on Amazon, I think I paid about $30-35 for them, and they are the real deal (love 'em!).
I'm Canadian. I got it on Amazon. Look for the real name. Use this video to spot the difference.
Thanks for the review. 😊👍☕️🍩
Ummmmmm…is there a pattern or what stitch is your scarf?? Love! I need it😬

Is it a Wool Genie or Wool Jeanie? Which one is the correct one to order? I don't want to order the knock off.
Wool Genie Magnetic Yarn Holder ;)
Mikey, I would choose the Wool Genie!
I love your scarf...do you have a tutorial?❤❤
Hello…..Yes he has a video he just released for the scarf.
Thanks for all of that good information. So helpful.
Is there a better place to buy the original?
Ithink Amazon is direct but I could be mistaken.
Appreciate the helpful review
Try putting some putty under the cheap device's base under the back to slant it.
I fell for this too! I was pretty ticked.
Are you going to return them, Mikey?
Nah. I will just give them away and let the recipient understand the issues I had.
Best. Review. Ever.
I did this (bought the knock off) in shoes for work Thought ohh a sale! 😢
I love my genie ❤
“More stable than the host!”😂😂😂
Im cracking up!!😂
I love idiots❣️
😅🤣🤣🤣
I have the real thing, they are made nearby - an excellent product
😂 funny but true
You can't return the crummy fakes? I would be upset too! Thank you for telling us but sooo sorry for you! 😭😎🩷✌️🤘
Thanks Mikey for this review! Now we know what NOT to waste our money on!! 🧶🙌🧶😊😊
