I went here every time I visited my sister in Carlisle. I also go to the Friendly's every time. I love this store. When you first walked in the door the current season decorations were directly to the left, It had so much great stuff. I always had a loaded car. I will definitely miss it.
Friendly's is a shadow of it's former self. Had over 500 stores. Now 119. The corporate HQ in Wilbraham Mass. looks like a dump. Go to Google Maps and find it with street view. It's one beat building. That abandoned Fast Food looking building in the parking lot to the left of the main building was where they trained people for a subsidiary called Jim Dandy Fried Chicken. That was 40+ years ago.
This location was near where I used to work. The Pennsylvania Medical Society. I would go to this shopping Center all the time to shop and eat. This location was fantastic with lots of items.
Wow! That looked like a very nice store, based on the photos at the end! It looked like they sold more than just Christmas trees. It looked like they sold home decor and summer items too. And the building outside is big and reminds me of a capital building! Maybe one day this company can make a comeback!
Awesome video. That was a great Christmas Tree Shop. I used to live in the townhouses on the hill behind that store. There's a very good view of the area from that hill.
OMG. SSSsoooooooo cool. Down here in Michigan we have an abandoned Christmas tree shop and bed bath and beyond connected to each other. Thanks for sharing wallie.
Yes and it was in the former bed bath and beyond I actually went and walkthrough through the store and they were still using bed bath and beyond fixtures at the time I was there.!
Same company owned them both. The curse of "My Pillow". BB+B patted themselves on the back for dumping "My Pillow" because Mike L supported Trump. Supporting Trump did hurt him. Hurting Mike hurt BB+B. Business people touting their political allegiances is going to make a certain amount of your customers extremely annoyed. They both kind of got what they deserved. Though My Pillow is hanging on and BB+B/CTS is a footnote. There was bit of a "Scandal" when these stores all closed down. When the going out of business signs went up, it wasn't the same owners of the stores. They raised the prices then touted they cut the prices based on the raised price (which never actually existed). I remember seeing photos and videos of merchandise with price stickers on top of price stickers. Going to the bottom one (the original) in many cases was cheaper than the Going out of Business price. Because the Liquidators owned it all by then.
2:51 You and your damn doorbells LOL. You always make me laugh when you push them. I can’t wait when someday somebody actually does answer when you push one of them😂🤣😂🤣.
I was at Hobby Lobby and there was a button like that on the outside wall. My son pushed it (I may have egged him on to do it) and a short time later an employee came out to check the doors. My wife was in the store and she said it set off an alarm you could here throughout the store. Maybe that's what he was hearing in the video.
An awesome video, Wallie! I never shopped in a Chrismas Tree store. As for the Harrisburg Mall, I was in that mall back in the very early 1990s. The mall is located in Dauphin County, Lower East Paxtang Borough. The Colonial Park Mall in Harrisburg is dead as well. That mall is located in Colonial Park area of Harrisburg. I also was in that mall back in the early 90s, the same time as the Harrisburg Mall. I personally preferred the Colonial Park Mall.
Good video! What a different kind of place! Hope it can be made into something else someday! I miss Friendly's as far as I know, there might be one still open in NY State!
Wow what an magnificent stone when it was opened looks like it had a lot of everything to choose from it'd to Nad they closed the building is very unique I hope someone leases it and reopens a great shop again. Great job big thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You should see the old Xmas tree shop in Warwick, RI. Such a cool building, now just rotting away. Actually Warwick RI is full of abandoned places. Two over from the CTS is a Babies R us and a AC Moores both empty.
I heard that when the weather gets a little bit warmer people are not thinking well and they start going around stores in sandals and flip flops and I think people it's still winter time and the temperature is still 54 degrees out and you want to freeze your feet off.
You should do a video of the abandoned O’Charleys in Charleston, WV ( in trace fork shopping area) and also the Old Office Max that’s next to Kohls. Office Max closed on November 11, 2023. And there is an old Bojangles that’s next to Chuck E Cheese. There was some work done on it then they have stopped for like 3 years. I would love to see a video on that one if you can do it.
East Coast chain that at it's peak had 500+ stores. Currently 119. It was primarily a sit down restaurant. And ice cream at a walk up or drive up in good weather. Also, again on the East Coast, branded Ice Cream in Grocery Stores. That's a complicated one today. The Ice Cream and restaurants are a licensing deal I believe and not owned by the same people. Oh, and the company went through bankruptcy a few years ago. Started by 2 brothers that both lived to be over 100 and on their games almost to the end. But, they had sold out most of it decades previously to Hershey but kept a small share of the stock. Who sold it, and then they sold it and then they sol........ Each majority shareholder screwed it up and then passed it along to someone else.
@@anthonycoach4551 Wiki is your friend. My other comment is because the HQ is about 20 minutes from me and many people know the general history. I used Wiki for the particulars.

Never heard of this place. That building is massive, they must’ve had a huge selection of Christmas trees!

It's a war zone.😢
The one by me in New York is going to be pickleball courts and indoor golf. They still have the stained glass over the door
I found an item With a Christmas tree shop tag in Goodwill
I know that it's cold for short sleeve but if you are a warm blooded person you can easily go around in short sleeves.
Looks a lot like the one in Hagerstown, MD.
It’s also in Taylor Michigan.

it would be funny that while you are looking through that window of the customer pick up, someone stepped up

Can you explore an abandoned Harmon Face Values?
I've never been to that one. If you've been to the one in York near the Galleria, what is the size comparison between the two?

Hi
Wallie, have you ever come across any abandoned hobby lobbies?! Hobby Lobby is my favorite store!
I can’t see Hobby Lobby closings in droves.
No, because Hobby Lobby is actually doing well as a franchise in general.
What was this store anyway? Did they sell Christmas items?
Yes. I a holiday theme store.
@@2004RADMAN So it wasn't just Christmas, but also Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, 4th of July etc?
Yes
Random Caterpillar
It's not really abandoned because they use it for Halloween only like they did close it but they open it for Halloween that's it
It might have just been a one year deal.
What the heck is a friendly's never heard of that one..
