This version is beyond beautiful. What comes to my mind, as soon as I heard this is the young men who fought in the crusades and never returned. You are probably a bard in your past life.
YES!!! I like Rod Stewart's/Bob Dylan's songs of same title. But I love Alphaville's song far more and love that you used their's as the base for this cover!!!!!
Hey! You stop that negativity right now. We are all on the path of music. I'm probably better than John Williams when he was 4 yrs old lol but im not comparing apples and oranges
I guess it's for the rhyming scheme, but a lot of the words in this song aren't Saxon, they're modern or something else. dance and style are French, heaven is spelled the modern way, "expect" is clearly a Latin-derived word. "dye" isn't spelled the way I'd expect for Saxon. Music is French. Power is French. The Old English word "sæd" meant satisfied, not unhappy. Face is French, not really sure what "fæces" is supposed to be (though it's an archaic way of spelling "feces", so...). Praise is French, "rave" is also French, which is odd, because "madman" would've been an entirely English phrase, so it was altered to make it *more* French. Melody is French, diamond is French, adventure is French. If this was Anglo-Norman, it'd probably make a bit more sense than Saxon, still there are a few odd things in the lyrics.
Thanks for your observations Dunkleosteus. I'm definitely no linguist so the blame is entirely on me. I even butchered the original lyrics further sometimes to accommodate the music. I tried to mirror the original melody and meter as much as possible. I can see how a lot of it would be off-putting. I think some of the spellings were my way of writing it so that I would pronounce it consistently, not how they ought to be spelled.
Can you please define Saxon English? How does this relate to Old or Middle? Beowulf, Bede, Chaucer or Shakespeare? It sounds to me like you’re aiming for something later than Chaucer, but before Shakespeare.

@@maxr1826 Aww thanks Max! Your insight is strangely sobering and rings true in me. I HAD stopped making music for a while and I was pretty fed up with it. But I'm wising up again and remembering how much I love it. Please keep me honest. If you sense I'm not caring, slap me with that unsubscribe button to get me back in line. Cheers mate!

"You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead."

Thank you sir for calling out the falsehood of this video. Shame on OP for spreading disinformation. Automatic downvote 👎🏻
well done
And thus, the bard has blessed our ears once again
You are too kind Mariana! Thy bard is happy to be of service

XDDD I love accents, especially when I can't understand them like Welsh XDDD
Loool it's just brittish w/o french
It felt like that writing it!
Not bad but you sound strained in parts and some lines don't sound quite right with the rhythm.
