Now Ukraine's is Fighting Russia in Syria
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 чер 2024
- Ukraine released footage of their special forces battling Russian troops inside Syria. This happened in the Golan Heights. Ukraine hit Russian checkpoints, ammunition storage depots, and logistics convoys. Then Russian foot Patrols were ambushed with small arms fire. But How did Ukraine's Khimik team insert into Syria nearly 1,000 miles away? and why are they diverting forces to a seemingly unrelated battle? The fight is also spilling over into Sudan as of last year. What does it mean for all these conflicts starting to bump up against each other?

What could be some of the factors for why the conflict has drawn both Ukraine and Russia here? Sudan is currently in the midst of a violent civil war. Russia has been dealing with the Sudanese government since 2017, working to both secure things like port access and permission to build military bases, as well as training sudanese troops and assisting them in putting down protests. The two warring sides are the Sudanese armed forces, or SAF, under al-Burhan, who are currently still in control of the government. The rebelling side is the RSF, Rapid Support Forces, under Dagalo. Currently the RSF hold’s a large portion of the southwestern corner of Sudan, and their control extends north into the capital city. The RSF are also trained and equipped by the Wagner group, who are working to overthrow the Sudanese government. According to the latest reports from Sudan, about 90% of the arms and ammunition used by the RSF have been directly supplied by Russia.

Honestly using your best special forces in the slog of the Frontline in ukraine doesn't seem smart. In this conflict it doesn't matter how skilled you are as a soldier. You are just as likely to die as the freshly trained conscript next to you. Special forces are going to be safer and more effective in places where they can play to their advantages.
Agreed. I don't know why people didn't seem to learn that lesson from Russian blunders in how they got almost their entire special forces branch mauled because they used them like supplements to front line combat
@@cynthiaherbst3909 A number of countries have made that error. The US did the same thing in Panama when they ordered ~50 Navy SEALS to assault an airport to disable Manuel Noriega's private jet. Problems arose when the Panamanian Defenses spotted them and opened fire. The SEALS fought and held their positions and did destroy the jet, but it was a lesson on how not to use such a small force of special operators. The SEALS were relieved the following day by a much more appropriately-sized company of Army Rangers.
The Navy should have either committed another team of SEALS or the Army should've deployed the Rangers to begin with and used the SEAL teams to provide recon and overwatch.

It's clever at the least.
They're playing the attrition long game.
I would call it more death by a thousand cuts than attrition. OTOH, are these just two descriptions of the same idea?
Not attrition. They aren't going to attreit many Russians in Syria. What they are going to do is force them to fight a very expensive expeditionary war, something Russia really sucks at. They can't even fight at the end of a rail-road.
They're also leveraging the fact that protecting anything from random attacks is much more expensive than fighting an enemy that has been found and fixed, especially if you're doing it somewhere far flung with poor infrastructure.

It is better to look at the realistic analyses of the military experts US Colonel Douglas MacGregor and Colonel Markus Reisner from the Austrian Federal Army.
Btw: Kiev also kept announcing major offensives that failed to materialize. And Ukraine's supporters announced extensively that Russia had collapsed within weeks. But only Western countries went along with the Western sanctions, and Russia even became the fifth strongest economic power. All this pro-oligarch propaganda only led to many deaths, but quickly became nothing but a lot of noise and deception.
Incidentally, Selinskie's party did not get a single candidate elected in the last elections in Ukraine. Shortly before the war began, Selinskie banned many parties, unions and media in Ukraine. And after the war began, many more. This corrupt oligarchy is everything but a real democracy.
