Now Ukraine's is Fighting Russia in Syria

  • Ukraine released footage of their special forces battling Russian troops inside Syria. This happened in the Golan Heights. Ukraine hit Russian checkpoints, ammunition storage depots, and logistics convoys. Then Russian foot Patrols were ambushed with small arms fire. But How did Ukraine's Khimik team insert into Syria nearly 1,000 miles away? and why are they diverting forces to a seemingly unrelated battle? The fight is also spilling over into Sudan as of last year. What does it mean for all these conflicts starting to bump up against each other?

What could be some of the factors for why the conflict has drawn both Ukraine and Russia here? Sudan is currently in the midst of a violent civil war. Russia has been dealing with the Sudanese government since 2017, working to both secure things like port access and permission to build military bases, as well as training sudanese troops and assisting them in putting down protests. The two warring sides are the Sudanese armed forces, or SAF, under al-Burhan, who are currently still in control of the government. The rebelling side is the RSF, Rapid Support Forces, under Dagalo. Currently the RSF hold’s a large portion of the southwestern corner of Sudan, and their control extends north into the capital city. The RSF are also trained and equipped by the Wagner group, who are working to overthrow the Sudanese government. According to the latest reports from Sudan, about 90% of the arms and ammunition used by the RSF have been directly supplied by Russia.

The United States has a whole organization within the Army that does this. They have taught the Ukrainian SF, which fought alongside us in Iraq and Afghanistan. Giving the Russians more headaches in places like the Middle East and Africa kind of makes sense. I have no doubt that the SF soldiers involved are getting support from the US and, no doubt, Israel. Not attrition. They aren't going to attreit many Russians in Syria. What they are going to do is force them to fight a very expensive expeditionary war, something Russia really sucks at. They can't even fight at the end of a rail-road.
They're also leveraging the fact that protecting anything from random attacks is much more expensive than fighting an enemy that has been found and fixed, especially if you're doing it somewhere far flung with poor infrastructure.

      Seriously?
Better to look at the famous basic principles of war propaganda by Morelli, for example on Wikipedia. They have been thoroughly scientifically tested and confirmed. And prove themselves in practice every day, point by point.
It is better to look at the realistic analyses of the military experts US Colonel Douglas MacGregor and Colonel Markus Reisner from the Austrian Federal Army.
Btw: Kiev also kept announcing major offensives that failed to materialize. And Ukraine's supporters announced extensively that Russia had collapsed within weeks. But only Western countries went along with the Western sanctions, and Russia even became the fifth strongest economic power. All this pro-oligarch propaganda only led to many deaths, but quickly became nothing but a lot of noise and deception.
Incidentally, Selinskie's party did not get a single candidate elected in the last elections in Ukraine. Shortly before the war began, Selinskie banned many parties, unions and media in Ukraine. And after the war began, many more. This corrupt oligarchy is everything but a real democracy.

I work as a Syria expert for the Dutch government and I am pretty sure there aren't any Ukranians in Syria. They would obviously stand out and they'd have to cross multiple frontlines to get to the area in which video's of attacks were filmed. Although this doesn't mean Syrian rebels aren't being backed by Ukraine. Also the map around the 3 minute mark isn't correct, it implies Ukrainian SOF is operating from the Israeli controlled Golan Height. Pretty sure that if there are any Ukrainian SOF in country they would be to the east of Russian forces in Daraa or Quneitra province.

@@kurtwicklund8901 well this exact situation isn't a proxy war but there is an argument to be made that Ukraine is a Proxy for the west to fight Russia but I think the argument that Ukraine is merely defending itself with western support is more valid.

@@kurtwicklund8901 And who is funding Ukraine? It still very much is. Its a superpower engaging one nation while the other is funding their enemy to undermine their efforts. One example would be Vietnam where the US was, not only engaging NVA and VC in North and South Vietnam but also Cambodia and Laos. Its still very much a West vs East proxy conflict as NVA would never have succeeded without the aid from the Soviet union. Same thing in Ukraine; They would have never lasted this long without the funding of the western superpower. But the superpowers wont engage eachother because of nuclear deterrence.

If ukraine can cheaply inconvience russia wherever they are operating. They are taking money, troops, and equipment away from the conflict in ukraine. It makes sense.

Ukraine has no money at all. This is stupid. It makes sense when you know who is giving them money though. If the goal is to liberate Ukraine, even if the US could do an Iraq style invasion you do that, not engage in sideshows.

No it dont make since at all russia have thousands of troops and hundereds of vehicles and planes in syria
Its just stupid to send your best troops in a land far away from your home when you are in need for every single soul
Also syrian army , hezbuallah, iraqi and iranian militas are all in syria on the russian side
And turkish, russian and iraqi air forces are conducting countless strikes against isis , free syrian army and kurds in syria
And believe me ukraine special forces have no chance against iraqi and turkish special forces nither against hezbuallah wich even israel is afried to atack
Its sucide mission from ukraine side and just stupidity
