Speaking from experience as somebody who was falsely accused of a crime and didn't commit. There's really nothing you can say to make people believe you they've already made up their mind even after the prosecutor refused to take it to court because they knew I didn't do it, there were people who still refuse to believe I didn't do it. Part of me almost thinks it was worse but it didn't go to trial because the rumor is I paid somebody off and that's why they dropped the charges. That was over 20 years ago and I still have childhood friends who don't talk to me anymore but it is what it is.
We’re witnessing it in real time now too. Certain people can’t accept Amber Heard manipulated the me too movement to her benefit because of what it means so they lie to themselves.
This is a case where a parent was right about her child's maturity level and did her best to prevent this from happening. Her mom must have agonized about this, but she was right to forbid her from taking that trip, and couldn't reasonably nail her to her bed.
She didn’t even put herself in a bad situation. She was just a girl walking down the street. No amount of maturity can protect you from a predator hunting. There is no way she went with him willingly. As you get older, you become more scared of the world, but it’s not because of maturity. It’s experience that likely doesn’t really come until your 30’s.
I currently live in myrtle beach and am from Georgetown. I lived in the same neighborhood where her body was found less than a mile or so away. I was in high school when this happened and have followed the case ever since. It’s been a huge deal in the area since it happened. I’m so glad that the family and those that have been falsely accused can have some degree of closure now. What a tragic and senseless loss. My heart is broken for her family.
I am from Rochester NY where she was from. I'm approx. the same age as Brittanee and I remember having my 18th birthday the day after she went missing. :( Also followed the case very closely since then. 13 years. Glad to see it finally resolved, so that the family can heal.
@budderkupp1282 ...or worship Trump even though he supports and takes credit for the vaccine, or vote for a con artist that incited a violent, seditious riot at our capitol, or support a single term, twice impeached ex-president who's lost the popular vote twice, or believe a 34 time felon that been found liable for sexual assault. 😂😅
As Dr. Grande pointed out, there have been people to show "compassion" by crying and volunteering to assist with the search and then it turns out they are actually the person who committed the crime. Also, the fact her mother didn't want her to go because she felt something bad was going to happen to her daughter, just adds a different feel to this case.
It’s not even close to the same but when I was first going though my divorce my ex husband girlfriend said I scratched her car when I hadn’t. It was the only time in my life I’d had any trouble with the law. The judge got it and it was dismissed but I was a nervous wreck. I can’t imagine how it would feel to be accused of murder.
😂😂😂 Sorry , but I just had to laugh . My ex's , new GF tried to pull a similar stunt with me . She accused me of " stealing her motorcycle seat " . 😂😂😂 I didn't know her , where she lived , or that she owned a motorcycle . Turns out one of her " friends with benefits " , was the culprit . 😂😂😂
Another great video analysis. Please consider profiling the case of my cousin, Judith Brown. She disappeared in 1977 with Richard E. Reisenberg who had killed his wife and daughter in 1971. Both have never been found. Her case was recently profiled in episode 342 of The Vanished Podcast. It’s probably one of the coldest cases out there.
TRAGIC! And I can't help wondering if Brittany thought about her mom's warnings...she had to've fervently wished she'd listened to her mother! Poor baby!
I know! I wndr wen or if that evr came into her mind? If only she wud hav thought of that b4 accepting the ride mayb she wudn't hav & possibly things wud hav turned out bttr for her. I feel sooo bad for her mom(& Brittanee too) How helpless she must hav felt
I imagine she didn't. IN the moment of something so traumatic happening it is ONLY fight, flight or freeze. Absolutely nothing else goes through your mind. I know, because I've had something very traumatic happen and the only thing on your mind is survival. You don't feel helpless, you feel strong AF with all the adrenaline. And there is no room in your brain for * what if*. And...it's never EVER the fault of the victim. It's the predators fault. He is the ONLY one to blame. It's never ok to put any blame on a victim.
This is such an unfortunate situation. Her mom must have been so heartbroken and scared for her daughter. A prime example of why you should listen to your parents when it comes to things like this.
Thank you for doing this video. For years I have been searching for updates on this case. I’m glad they were able to locate her remains and arrest the man who did it.
What would interest me is: how did they finally home in on the actual perpetrator? Dr. Grande just said "they shifted their focus to" - he didn't say how he came under suspicion.
Hi Dr. Grande. I'm glad they caught the guy who murdered Britanee. Being from S.C., I've known and seen many crazy people. I've also learned that the best way to live is well, completely, permanently away from those dangerous monsters. Hope you're having a fabulous evening. Peace and love to you and your family as well, Janine Smiley✌💜🍽🍉🍊🍩🎂🌹🆒️
@@janinemccartha1811 Not to downplay what you said, but I don’t think most people go out of their way to live amongst others who are or seem to be crazy or monstrous on a normal basis lol. It definitely does not seem like Brittanee was the type of person who inherently sought out evil either and from what we can tell, she seems like such a sweet and innately empathetic person to the extent that it unfortunately but not uncommonly caused her so much suffering by wanting to be “the perfect person” for everyone she met because she felt so unworthy in herself for whatever reason and couldn’t see how beautiful and full of great potential that she truly was 💔💔 it is absolutely heartbreaking and my thoughts and prayers especially go out to her mother, what an unimaginable neverending traumatic experience and loss that she has lived through since her disappearance and now homicide. 🥺😥
I’m from the same area. I followed this case, my dad used to work with her maternal grandmother years ago. She did not deserve that…my heart goes out to the family. It’s not the outcome they wanted, but they have answers now. May she Rest In Peace.
I will also correct one minor thing as well, the beach her mother thought she went to was pronounced Shar-lot, though spelled like Charlotte, it’s not pronounced the same. We pronounce things differently in western NY
I grew up on the street next to hers, and my best friend's house is the one directly across the street from this girl's house. We all usually were slightly more familiar with the case details than most, because we'd get updates on the local news etc all the time. I don't think anybody ever thought there would EVER be justice.
@@SqueakyWheel__Inc. I think I recall her mom saying something about "her being offered a modeling gig or of a contact that could in myrtle beach" and that was one of her reasons for being dead set on going ( also she's a teenage girl). But It's a stretch to believe this creep somehow knew and used that to lure her. Most likely just forced her in ...she was tiny...wouldn't take much effort .
@@SqueakyWheel__Inc. aren't 90% of teenagers "too big for their britches" though? Seriously -_- There were so many times I should have died due to my irresponsible choices, thankfully I didn't, but teenagers literally don't think that this can happen to them. and I know I'm not the only one
@@e.liza_kb I saw a lot of comments in other threads along these likes of "teens will be teens" type of thing & YEAH luckily most make it thru their trial & error teen yrs . But I don't really get the point of making this b/c the one's who rn't lucky enuf to make it, it is soo incredibly sad & tragic. It just doesn't seem good enuf to say every teen does it, acts wild & crazy & just oh well type of attitude. I mean thank God u did make it & nothing bad happened if u really were in situations that came that close to yor life, health, safety being compromised that is soo incredibly scary!! I don't know why as a society we r saying oh it's ok most kids r fine just too bad for the ones who make a questionable decision & it turned out terribly for those few. There has got to be a better balance of risk & of teens being able to make decisions & not be putting their life in danger & then later saying oh i'm glad that turned out ok
I love listening to you speak. Not only are the cases interesting, but you’re so articulate, AND sarcastic . Perfect blend to result in a very entertaining 15 minutes! 😊
It would be interesting to hear your analysis of the case of Eric Smith, who at age 13 killed 4YO Derrick Robie in 1993, and was recently released on parole.
I have followed this story for years. What a cautionary tale. I’m so glad the family has knowledge of what really happened to her. I wish her family peace and love.
I'm glad they finally found the person responsible at least so that everyone could find closure. What a sad case- she was a bit rebellious and impulsive, but that often comes with the territory with teenagers. She would've grown out of it I'm sure and had her whole life ahead of her. I was a very straight laced teenager who never rebelled much, but my own daughter has shown me what rebellious and impulsive really looks like unfortunately! I feel for her Mom SO much- it's so hard to FORCE a teenage girl to do or not do anything, and then it's very hard to tell when they are lying, and ALL you want in the world is to protect them, and you just wish they would understand this and trust your Judgement! The Boys falsely accused are also a sad factor to this case, I'm sure this happens often and it can really ruin lives. Like I said, at least there is closure now, not that it helps much or brings her back, but it's SOMETHING. Thanks for another Excellent video Dr. Grande the Great! I love you and your channel to pieces!! 💖🥰❤️
@@annal7364 Thanks cutie Anna!! I've called him "Grande the Great" a few times, as I think it's fitting! Lol Hope you're doing well sweets, thanks for the comment! 💖🤗
@Shay B, I hear you! As a parent, there are times when you know what's best for your kids because you have more life experience and you just want them to listen. However, there's a fine line between pushing the boundaries a bit and trying to exert one's independence and rebelling to the point of putting oneself in danger. It can be so hard as a parent. Heartbreaking story.
When are prison informants no longer going to be allowed for witness testimony? It should be illegal along with polygraphs. Dr Grande is the soundest voice of reason. I will always be a diehard fan 🙌🏽
I really do not remember what we did before we had this channel to inform us on constructive thinking and common sense! Also no other venue makes me laugh out load so often but with no mallace!
There are cases that have been solved & people brought to justice using prison informant testimony, so banning it would be counterproductive. They should absolutely be treated with _a lot_ of scepticism, never used as stand-alone evidence & _always_ verified, however there have been many murder-for-hire plots against witnesses, spouses, business partners & govt officials thwarted thanks to the prison grapevine. Polygraphs, on the other hand, are complete pseudo-science & have _no_ place in a courtroom.
Never talk to the police, and never take a polygraph. The police will always say you failed the polygraph, or it was inconclusive. They don't want the truth, they want to close the case. The dumb sucker that gives them the opportunity to pin it on, will be the one that goes to prison.
Any decent lawyer could have got the new charges thrown out. Prosecutors know that they have an easier time closing cases against people who can't afford decent lawyers, and they know that they'll have fewer late nights at the office if they charge such a person. It endangers everyone because it gives any actual criminal -- rich or poor -- a better chance of getting away with a crime.
Gotta say Dr., I love that you always seem to up load when I'm waiting in the school pick up line. One great part of my day followed by another. Looking forward to some most excellent speculation. 👌
This has been a scary and sad case for years. She is a household name here as is Heather Elvis. This is the first true crime video I’ve attempted to watch on the case. The only comfort here is that everyone has assumed for years she was trafficked. At least now we know she is not continuing to suffer. :-(
@@eadweard. cuz you know the area and the industry and lived there as the situation developed. That’s the only thing you’re gonna troll in my comment? Wowza.
@@eadweard. , umm, but you do know that human trafficking is happening, right? It's not just a myth. Acquaintances of mine work with Eastern European girls that were trafficked to work in brothels here in Germany, and their stories would make you throw up.
Thank you Dr. Grande! Hey, we caught you diagnosing PIMRD. 😄 I feel sad for this girl and her family... personally I find an inmate and a spoiled young man to have about the same degree of credibility.
I live in Rochester. I remember when this first happened and the absolute witch hunt from my community towards Peter and the girls she traveled with. It didn’t help that Peter’s attorney was very notorious for defending some incredibly sketchy clients. The crazy conspiracy theories have never stopped. While their reaction to what happened was unfavorable, they were caught between a rock and a hard spot as to how to conduct themselves after returning. They were all young and entirely too preoccupied with themselves at the moment this all happened. An in-law of mine dated Peter and I remember seeing him years later after this happened and my heart feeling for him as I couldn’t imagine all the slander he endured over those years. Every year on Brittanees disappearance anniversary, all the rumors would amp up again but thankfully calmed down within the past few years. What happened to Brittanee was horrific. It always made my heart rip as I thought about her just wanting to get away and enjoy her youth, like we all wanted. I am only a few years older than Brittanee and I think about all the precarious situations I was in at her age. One step another way could have lead to terrible repercussions, but we never see it because we took another direction. I’m thankful her family can move on to the next step in grieving, to finally know is so bittersweet.
U mentioning the girls & the whole thing w/ the girl wanting her shorts back. Totally can relate to being a teen & clothes fights & little crappy skiffs like that. It's happened to all of us @ some point I bet. That one girl in particular must have felt badly wen this happened & mayb still does. It cud hav happened to Brittanee even if the girl didn't ask her to come back. I mean B wud hav been going back even later most likely. Peter does sound like a jerk kind of tho saying he didn't want to be a babysitter. A lot of guys wud hav done more to see her get back safer. Y was she thr seeing him? I mean they were friends-- y wudn't he wnt to make sure she was gonna. b ok? Don't know the whole dynamic of that scenario tho.Mayb she came dwn uninvited & he had other plans? I mean I "kind of" can c y he wud make a comment like that but w/ out having the whole story he just looks like a complete jerk & mayb he actually was kind of a jerk to her & mayb he deserves to take a little flak for that? edit: millions of teens make dumb decisions all the time & end up surviving their teen yrs. It is soo sad that some families don't end up so lucky. But the ones that end tragically r soo heartbreaking as u said b/c it's like "if only"
Thank You for your reporting on this Case Dr Todd, I've always wanted to know the outcome! My prayers go to her mother I'm so so sorry to hear what happened to your daughter may you find peace
I’m from Rochester, NY and remember when Brittanee first disappeared and the “leads” that the police got throughout the years. I didn’t know about her mental health struggles, though. My family and I have sincerely sympathized with the family and would often talk about her disappearance. This is a horrible situation, but I’m glad that her family finally got some closure.
I live in Myrtle Beach and this case has been in the news locally for a few weeks now . Thanks for covering It Doc. The whole story is never told in a 1 minute spot . I’m Glad the young man Timothy didn’t have to go to trial because of lazy police work .
She had a poor self-image and was bullied by one of her "friends" to go away on the pretext of getting a piece of clothing belonging to one of them. Very sad.
Yeah, from the things I’ve heard, I can’t understand why she fought so hard to go away with that group of people. They never seemed like they gave a care at all about her , treated her pretty poorly. She was on the outside of that group, u could see it in the one video of her sitting alone in the hotel room & she was upset. I thought oh my God, if she had just called her mother & went home. But at 17, none of us would have done that. I felt so badly for her.
@@kimwarner1681 If you have poor self-image and badly want to belong to an in-group you may have a high threshold for tolerating abuse, including bullying, manipulation, scorn. She was probably hiding a lot about her life from her mother, not just the trip.
@@mathrodite yes, that’s true. She had every reason to be confident but you could tell they knocked her down, probably jealous of her. Girls are very vicious & it doesn’t stop the older u get! It gets worse! Nothing more pathetic than seeing a grandma acting like a 7th grader.
Many years ago, my second-born son wanted to travel to a certain country in the Mediterranean. I told him no, that country is not safe for black people, especially now with economic strife and a rising fascist movement. He didn't make a fuss, and that was that. Two weeks later, an African American teenager was murdered in said country. Listen to your parents kids.

As one of Pete's closest friends and who I consider to be my best friend, I appreciate you pointing out that he was between a rock and a hard place with how it happened. It was a regular occurrence that he would send me screenshots of death threats he got daily immediately after it was released he was the last person to have seen her. I think the fact that when he went on Dr. Phil he was having an anxiety attack, the threats he was receiving, and the fact his lawyer just wanted fame. Was really what made him seem cold, even if a couple comments in hindsight seemed so, it isn't easy being threatened for something you didn't do. He was just fed up with it, and seeing the accusations and threats first hand I didn't blame him for being frustrated.
Omgosh..I have followed this for so long and I never thought she would be recovered or anyone held accountable....but thank God her family finally have the answers they've seemed for all this time! Wow, still cant believe! They solved it!! Just goes to show...whats done in the dark always comes to light!!
Yes, so true! Just because a person is not the smoothest, It doesn’t mean they’re guilty. People like to vilify a person just because they view them as acting unreliable or arrogant. People also like to claim someone is a narcissist when they really aren’t.
Words like "your racist" or "you're a narcissist" ect ect when used on the internet usually translate to "Stop telling me things I don't like hearing" or "I'll smear you as this so people don't notice I've lost a argument with you"
@@nunceccemortiferiscultu7826 Exactly! So true! I think sometimes those who use such harsh insults like “racist” and “narcissist” toward others are actually those things and just projecting their self hatred. I really hope they do some self-introspection and find peace, but in today’s fake world it’s usually done in vain.
I hope Taylor has been released for being given more time, I’d like to know why Raymond wasn’t looked into further with his known background. Failed junk science test, Taylor couldn’t tell him anything because he didn’t do it. Hate when cops get tunnel vision. What you don’t say can be held against you too!!
Oh you don’t know why? I’ll tell you why ,because they had a Black man that they could pin this crime on and they stuck with it. That even though there was no way he could’ve done it- he had an alibi ,he wasn’t there . Other people said he wasn’t there , but still they had this made up story by somebody who is in jail -a snitch - and they believe that because they want to believe horrible things about black men/boys . So when the police don’t solve crimes remember this , its because they’re always looking to pin it on the wrong people
Fascinating her mother's maternal instincts predicted that something would happen to her if she went on that trip. There's something to that law of obeying your parents wishes as long as you are underage living under their roof.
“Honor thy Mother & Father” = respect your parents and their wishes (so long as it is reasonable of course). But RIP to her, she didn’t deserve it regardless :( That sick murderer on the other hand deserves Hell, and will get his on Judgement Day
My Mom always told me to listen to my parents. She always said, "The day you don't, it could cost you your life". She was right. I miss my Mom's wisdom.
I’m so happy mom got answers, not the outcome we were hoping for thus we knew it would be grim she was still out there and after all there’s a moral behind this for children please listen to your parents and vice versa we should listen to them as well. This case has been with me since I first heard if it as I had been hoping they’d find out what happened to her.
I remember this case being huge in my town growing up. Crazy to see it solved after all these years... I remember the gator pit story and figured it would have ended there
It’s like the lesser of two evils here. The gator pit abduction story of being held in that house & gang raped for days or being ended by this creepy looking scumbag. They both turn my stomach. Why why why get in the car of someone u don’t know? Too sweet & too trusting, this world is too evil .
@@kimwarner1681 definitely, it feels to me like she was going through a tough time and wasn't making the best choices, but could have worked through it and just needed a little nurturing and perspective. Unfortunately someone took advantage of her vulnerability before she had that chance.

Hopefully, the tragic loss of this beautiful young woman will help other young girls to listen to their parent's warnings. You don't think it could ever happen to you, especially when so young. This is one of the many reasons I'm apprehensive about having kids and am very content with my fur babies. I can't imagine...
What a sad situation . It's a shame, she didn't listen to her mother. It was also awful, that the police and community, tried too pin it on other people. What annoyed is Peter, going on the Phil show and probably made money, on this awful murder. Thank you Dr Grande. Excellent analysis and tragic topic.
How awful for this young woman. She must have been terrified. I'm so sorry she had to experience this and lost her life as well. My heart goes out to her family.
It's so heartbreaking to be falsely accused. Excellent points as no matter what you do people will disbelieve you and all actions are then twisted/used against you. Thanks Dr G😊💙💙
My feelings were more helplessness/anger towards a vindictive ex who told the cops I was a sex trafficker. There are people out there who will consider one suspect for even having been investigated on such a charge. Even after the cops determine the charge baseless. Even after the accuser is convicted of false reporting or defamation. Even if one has a squeaky-clean record.

I was at Charlotte (pronounced CharLOTTE in Rochester) Beach just yesterday, and I have stayed many times at the Bluewater Resort in NC with my daughter. When Brittany went missing the Myrtle Beach magic went missing for me. I've always had deep empathy for her mother.
How horrible for the parents and how frustrating for the guy falsely accused who had extra time added to his sentence for an unrelated crime. But I'm glad that at least now they all have answers. I have heard this excuse many times about young people not showing empathy and not making safe choices because they are young. To a certain degree, I understand about the bad choices. But I can't agree about the empathy. If her "friend", who was 20 at the time, couldn't show any empathy for her going missing or regret for not giving her a ride, then he's not a person I would want to know then or now. Maybe because my college friends and I were all from big cities, but boy or girl, we never let someone walk back to their dorm/apt alone. Never. If there were only two of us, one would spend the night at the other's place and go home in the morning. I'm always shocked when I hear these cases of young people letting their friend wander off alone-- often late at night, when they are drunk, and in an unfamiliar place.
Truly, the greatest risk most people take each day is stepping outside from the relative safety of their homes and into the world around them where the risk posed to them from random strangers varies from zero to infinitely high. Sadly, trusting a stranger is sometimes a foolish and dangerous risk.
I wish to goodness i could disagree but I'm in the UK and someone has just been found guilty for murdering an 18yr old girl. Why did she get murdered? She had the audacity to be minding her own damn business and be waiting for a bus to get home when an obsessed psycho was out looking for a victim. This is one of I cant even count how many women have been killed not cos they're drunk or out late or vulnerable but just because they were there (not that any of the above are reasons). Im done with this world

This is the first case in 30 years of following true crime where my gut instinct was wrong. I didn't think it was Peter, I thought it was the "friends" she was traveling with. She didn't know them well. She'd told her boyfriend they were being mean to her on this trip, they didn’t seem to care that she went missing & they refused to talk to her mother. So, they are innocent in her murder. I was wrong. It's important to follow evidence & be willing to change theory as information emerges. But I still think they were simply bad people.
Todd.... THIS is where you should focus your skills!!! You have So MUCH to teach. Law enforcement agencies have so much POWER and influence... and often it is used recklessly and abusively... Please keep up THIS work.. not many people have the focus and insight that you do in this area.
Thank you! Polygraph gets brought up so much sometimes, as some sort of either incriminating or clearing factor but it like...rates one's heart rate and sure SOME people get nervous lying and their heartrate will spike but other people won't. And heartrate can spike up or go down for many completely unrelated/innocent reasons. Like if you run or hurry somewhere your heart will beat faster and louder bc of the exercise. Or someone may be nervous for other reasons or have anxiety or an undetected heart condition of some sort. Or be neurodivergen, so their reactions would be different from neurotypical people. Or, obv being questioned by police is anxiety inducing and stressful in and of itself. I also wonder how would such test or intoregation overall be conducted with people who are neurodivergent, for example on autism specturm? Autistic people tend to be prone to stress as well as tend to have problems with social cues and situations. And again, what about polygraph results when someone has a heart condition and has a peacemaker? Wouldn't that muddle readings? But all of this is why those things are inadmissable in court.
This story always hit home. I’m just a little older than Brittany, and I remember when she went missing when I was in college. Who let’s a young friend walk around by herself like that?
That was true even when I was in college in the late 80's. I knew two gals who would schedule playing racquetball around my schedule lifeguarding at the rec center, so I could walk them back to their dorms... and this was on campus.
From what I remember, those friends she went there with weren’t good friends at all. I know they were young but my friends and I never had so little regard or care for anyone, friends or not. I have to disagree when Dr.Grande said Peter being so arrogant & uncaring had to do with his young age at the time. Idk about anyone else, but I’ve always been considerate of others, I never shrugged & said , who cares, not my problem when it came to someone in our group walking by themselves at night, whether I knew them or not. We always made sure the person was included for her safety. I always thought some people are just more selfish than others , they were that way when young & are the same selfish person into their old age. 🤷♀️ Example numero uno, my brother.
@@ericjbowman1708 we had incidents happen that no one knew about on campus, I never felt 100% safe on campus. My problem was thinking because the sun was shining, you’re safe. Lol. Nope.
@@kimwarner1681 All humans are inherently selfish and wicked. You're not an exception aside from same sex interests. In reality, you're probably thinking "i hope your family dies and you get run over by a train". The concept of "friends" is silly because it implies they can be trusted or have any interest in you or your well being. In reality, they just want to manipulate you and want you to goosestep to their ideals. Everyone will take advantage of you, if you let them. The idea of having "friends" is self sabotage. Never let your guard down, carry a firearm with you at all times. You're in a whirl.
Another great analysis. I am interested to hear your specific claim of federal charges for same crime/acts being viewed as unjust, Double Jeopardy. I tend to agree. Your experience and training lend a great deal of import to this view. Have you considered sharing this view with justice organizations? Innocence Project or others? More clarity and compassion in our justice system is sorely needed. More critical reason and measures, and more compressive grasp of the measurable systemic errors and abused help all of society understand our roles and responsibilities better.
Couldn't agree more with this comment!! The system seems to be so very broken, and is terribly unbalanced. The double charging at the local and Federal level is just one small facet, I always think it's ludicrous that it often depends so much on what lawyer you can get it afford, and sometimes what connections you have, leaving wealthy people at a HUGE advantage and often with MUCH lower sentences for identical crimes to those of lower income, and then of course the racial inequality, the way too long prison sentences for non-violent crimes like for drugs where we should be treating people instead of just throwing them in cages with violent offenders for years, ALL of it needs some serious adjusting and needs to be done with much more humanity and compassion. We NEED a criminal justice system, of course, and some people must be locked up- but we need a much BETTER, more balanced, more compassionate criminal justice system for those at a disadvantage. Thanks for this fantastic, important comment! ✌️💖
He should investigate medical practices if he hates polygraphs. Doctors kill more people than anyone else on his channel via BS racist eugenics nazi science.

I genuinely worry about my kid being someone who does something careless even though we try our best to be good parents
S G let your daughter know there will be consequences for her actions. Then maybe she will think twice about breaking the rules... it's not easy raising kids
We have consequences- especially privileges taken away, extra chores, early bedtime, time outs, we emphasize taking responsibility for actions and not making excuses.
@@eadweard. we discipline (time outs, privileges taken away, extra chores, etc.) plus talking about accountability, not making excuses, talking through options to a positive solution, being firm but fair and trying to explain why things are hurtful to others and what consequences (friends not wanting to play, reputation, and how that looks as an adult if they continue, etc)
This case erks me because they destroyed this BLK guys life along with his family, while the real k!ller was living freely and wasn't a main suspect when he should have been because he had a history of sexu3l assault. FBI should be ashamed of themselves with the trumped up charge.
God I remember seeing her mother standing on the side of the road holding a sign with her picture when I lived in Myrtle Beach-- would break my heart every time. Hope get mother could get some peace...
Dear Dr G. Another clever enjoyable, but very sad case analysis. I studied Tae Kondo in several clubs and have always taken great care when out and about. I drove Taxi's night shift weekends when I was young. I ran a manners and good social scene. Due to my height I am able to drive without my hands - which was one of the unpleasant things I did if folks were rude including telling them it was my husbands cab and we needed the money .....
If they make a DSM 6 I wonder if Dr. Grande has any sections of the book that he feels need updating? As for me, I hope they can de-stigmatize being a loner or an introvert by labeling it an alternate lifestyle.
When I was that age, I did dumb stuff, but I KNEW it was dumb. I would never have argued with my parents that they should allow me to do dumb things like going out of state with a couple friends. I also knew that if I went somewhere against their wishes, my parents would’ve found me and dragged my butt back home.
I get that Peter was only 20, but he was so callous that even if not guilty he is surely a jerk. I think even at 20, a typical reaction to these tragic events would be to feel guilt that you didn't drive her back to her hotel. Because if he had, Britanee would still be alive. Not that any of this is his fault, mind you. But his reaction to what happened is borderline sociopathic.
Dr grande you should cover the case of cindy james if you ever get the chance. I've been curious about what really happened ever since I've heard of it
Hey Dr. Grande, I hope you see this. Please do a video on Stephanie, Shanice, and Miranda Dantzler from Colleton County, SC. This mother and her two daughters were killed on Mother’s Day night when a Charleston County Deputy hit their car driving recklessly. The deputies lights nor dash cam were on and she was responding to a non emergency call. To date, the officer has not been charged an is on paid administrative leave. The death of a mother and two daughters truly hurt the small town where I am from. The youngest daughter Miranda had just graduated from Claflin University the day before she was killed. Such a sad story. There is also another story out of Columbia, SC where a man stabbed and killed his elderly mother and 18 year old daughter. Thank you!
I remember seeing this case on Id Discovery show "Vanished" or something like that. This story always stayed with me because my daughter was the same agenda it sounded like a stunt she would pull. Thank goodness she never did but I always felt for Britanee's mom. Glad they got the SOB who did it so her family can have closure. I really hope the people Britanee stayed with in Myrtle Beach feel bad for their conduct. Why make someone walk all that way back for a pair of shorts, wear something else!! I'm sure the girl meant no harm but that would stick with me if I was Britanees mom. RIP Britanee and glad they found the monster who took your life!!! Thank you Dr Grande for the update in this case.
It is possible that those girls were bullying Britanee, right? I was wondering about the same thing. Why make her get the shorts? Probably there was more to the story. Teenagers can be quite mean and can gang up against one of their own friends without a warning. It is hard living up to peer expectations as a young person. Very sad.
I just keep thinking about Britney as they were going the opposite way of the hotel and ultimately towards the scene of her murder. I bet she had the ultimate regret, and wished she listened to her mother. How sad. I do commend the mother on not letting her go. Someone in the comments said the mother knew her maturity level. It reminds me of when I was younger and I wanted to do things, but my mother was definitely a roadblock in a lot of things that I wanted to do and they weren’t bad things. To put it simply, in my whole primary to secondary school career I’ve only been allowed to go over to friends’ homes. My mother was strict, but I’m glad she was because it instilled morals in me and a little bit of paranoia.
Dr. Grande you should make a comment about the Timothy Taylor individual, about him not being the same person as Tim Allen's character from Home Improvement.
Just get a gun and start shooting up the place when that happens. It's all the rage these days.
I'm sorry that happened to you.
We’re witnessing it in real time now too. Certain people can’t accept Amber Heard manipulated the me too movement to her benefit because of what it means so they lie to themselves.
You're still lucky. Imagine false imprisonment on top.
It's very hard to prove you didn't do something. I believe you
This is a case where a parent was right about her child's maturity level and did her best to prevent this from happening. Her mom must have agonized about this, but she was right to forbid her from taking that trip, and couldn't reasonably nail her to her bed.
I agree with you on this. If there's a will there's a way, and sometimes no matter how hard you try, you can't stop them.
Nature vs nurture. You can raise your kid right but they ultimately choose how to live their lives.
@@TrippyTheShroom well that and a kid has a hard time imagining the worst that can happen bc their underdeveloped brains
IDGAF I would handcuffed them to the bed
I went to school in Myrtle! I remember seeing her photo everywhere
I was on one of the search teams for her. Very sad case. 💔
I am from Rochester NY where she was from. I'm approx. the same age as Brittanee and I remember having my 18th birthday the day after she went missing. :( Also followed the case very closely since then. 13 years. Glad to see it finally resolved, so that the family can heal.
I just don't understand why people still take polygraph tests.....or believe prison informants! Excellent analysis, Dr. Grande! ❤️
Or eat Taco Bell, or drive Jeeps, or drink Mountain Dew, or visit New Jersey!
@@bthomson Or listen to Michelle Obama, or wear masks, or vote for Biden, or protest the reversal of Rowe vs Wade.

So sad. These people and their families deserve justice 😪🙏❤
I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your cousin.. it must be awful to never know what happened.
I listen to this podcast, its well done and known for profiling lesser known cases. I hope you find out what happened to Judith.

She didn’t deserve to be murdered.
I will also correct one minor thing as well, the beach her mother thought she went to was pronounced Shar-lot, though spelled like Charlotte, it’s not pronounced the same. We pronounce things differently in western NY
They pronounce Charlotte, Michigan the same way.
I grew up on the street next to hers, and my best friend's house is the one directly across the street from this girl's house. We all usually were slightly more familiar with the case details than most, because we'd get updates on the local news etc all the time. I don't think anybody ever thought there would EVER be justice.

Yes, I’d love to hear Dr. Grand’s analysis of that case!
I believe he did do a video on that case if I remember correctly
She wasn't being rebellious. Everything she did was normal and fine
Being rebellious is normal and fine but she legitimately did not hit that threshold. She was asserting her adulthood
Thank you for covering this case. I didn't know it had been solved.
When are prison informants no longer going to be allowed for witness testimony? It should be illegal along with polygraphs.

I do enjoy hearing his analysis on cases. I love psychology.
Polygraphs, on the other hand, are complete pseudo-science & have _no_ place in a courtroom.
they are both tools the police use and have solved many cases
Never talk to the police, and never take a polygraph. The police will always say you failed the polygraph, or it was inconclusive. They don't want the truth, they want to close the case. The dumb sucker that gives them the opportunity to pin it on, will be the one that goes to prison.
Very good advice👍

Any decent lawyer could have got the new charges thrown out. Prosecutors know that they have an easier time closing cases against people who can't afford decent lawyers, and they know that they'll have fewer late nights at the office if they charge such a person. It endangers everyone because it gives any actual criminal -- rich or poor -- a better chance of getting away with a crime.

I was on spring break in Myrtle Beach when she went missing. I’ve always thought about her!
I always appreciate your disclaimer about polygraphs. I don't know if this is widely known, and I think it's so important!
@@kimwarner1681 definitely, it feels to me like she was going through a tough time and wasn't making the best choices, but could have worked through it and just needed a little nurturing and perspective. Unfortunately someone took advantage of her vulnerability before she had that chance.
This is so tragic. Her Mom really tried her absolute best to keep her daughter safe. Hopefully, the tragic loss of this beautiful young woman will help other young girls to listen to their parent's warnings. You don't think it could ever happen to you, especially when so young. This is one of the many reasons I'm apprehensive about having kids and am very content with my fur babies. I can't imagine...
It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on Daryl Davis, a black man who slowly befriends KKK members and basically talks them out of being racist.
would love to hear what the NFAC would do with him^^
Have you seen his most recent appearance on Timcast IRL?
The guys an open racist, it was very surprising when he began to reveal himself.
He's pro-reparations. I disagree with that, but I didn't find him to be racist. What part of the show was he racist at?
What a sad situation . It's a shame, she didn't listen to her mother. It was also awful, that the police and community, tried too pin it on other people. I am so please that Raymond admitted to the murder of this teenager. I hope this will give the parents course. What annoyed is Peter, going on the Phil show and probably made money, on this awful murder. Thank you Dr Grande. Excellent analysis and tragic topic.
Really hope there were consequences for the guy who falsely accused Timothy, but it's doubtful.
How awful for this young woman. She must have been terrified. I'm so sorry she had to experience this and lost her life as well. My heart goes out to her family.
What powerful wisdom you shared in this video, Dr. Grande!
Thank you again for all your extremely hard work and thought you put into your content! 💗
This is why you should always listen to your mom.

I didn't realize they found her killer .Thank you Dr Grande ❤️Oh ya Dr Phill the nitwit brought the young man on his show with the parents and they were all blaming Tim nonchalantly.
Yep! I remember that show.
Dr Grande!! I love your explanation of cases. It's to the point and much better than the over-sensationalized presentation of true-crime podcasts and TV shows. Please keep it up!
Buddy system like during swim class.
We always stayed with the group and looked out for each other when we were out having fun.
As always I found your analysis of this topic to be informative, thanks for filming it.
Truly, the greatest risk most people take each day is stepping outside from the relative safety of their homes and into the world around them where the risk posed to them from random strangers varies from zero to infinitely high. Sadly, trusting a stranger is sometimes a foolish and dangerous risk.
Sensible remarks, elegantly expressed.
Im done with this world
She didn’t trust him and get into his car willingly. He either grabbed her or hit her with his car.
Unfortunately, most murder victims are killed by someone they know, very close to home.
@@mamacito1795 If you don't like that, wait until you see the stats on how many _men_ get murdered!

Wow I’m I’m in Myrtle Beach, SC. Well right next to it, Surfside Beach, SC. I never heard the entire story! Thank you!
I love when doc bashes the Polygraph test 💪💪💪
Humans.
Absolutely shocked to see this. So glad to have peters name finally 100% cleared. Grew up in the same town as him. Thanks for the update doc
I love dr grandes hatred of “so called polygraphs”
If I were ever on trial, I would try to hire Dr Grande as an expert witness to debunk stuff like that
He should investigate medical practices if he hates polygraphs. Doctors kill more people than anyone else on his channel via BS racist eugenics nazi science.
@@pxxxbxxx1981 it’s funny to think about… polygraphs aren’t admissible at trial for a reason, but that fact is often dismissed

Awesome Doc! 🍀🥸 Poor Kid! RIP
Can you do videos that would give insight and advice on how to cope with children and rebelliousness? Granted my oldest is a preteen, but his personality is very strong and it feels like every strategy and range of ideas we’ve been told- having rules, being a little lenient, explanations of why things aren’t a good idea, natural consequences etc. never work. I genuinely worry about my kid being someone who does something careless even though we try our best to be good parents
Do you punish the child?
S G let your daughter know there will be consequences for her actions. Then maybe she will think twice about breaking the rules... it's not easy raising kids
We have consequences- especially privileges taken away, extra chores, early bedtime, time outs, we emphasize taking responsibility for actions and not making excuses.
@@stevengallant6363 not sure if it makes a difference but we have boys.
@@eadweard. we discipline (time outs, privileges taken away, extra chores, etc.) plus talking about accountability, not making excuses, talking through options to a positive solution, being firm but fair and trying to explain why things are hurtful to others and what consequences (friends not wanting to play, reputation, and how that looks as an adult if they continue, etc)
Hello doctor! I'm here early and excited to watch. Hope you're having a great day!
This case erks me because they destroyed this BLK guys life along with his family, while the real k!ller was living freely and wasn't a main suspect when he should have been because he had a history of sexu3l assault. FBI should be ashamed of themselves with the trumped up charge.

These forensic medico-legal videos are great.
Dr. Grande you are a treasure to the society. Lying detector and body language seem like valid evidence. Thank you for realising it is not so!
I like your new 4k camera and your cereal slayer beard coming in!
If they make a DSM 6 I wonder if Dr. Grande has any sections of the book that he feels need updating? As for me, I hope they can de-stigmatize being a loner or an introvert by labeling it an alternate lifestyle.
He makes more sense than anyone else in the channel!!!
When I was that age, I did dumb stuff, but I KNEW it was dumb. I would never have argued with my parents that they should allow me to do dumb things like going out of state with a couple friends. I also knew that if I went somewhere against their wishes, my parents would’ve found me and dragged my butt back home.
Dr. Grande:
Thank you for your good video and analysis.
Such a sad case. I'm glad Brittanee's mother finally got her answers.
Straight forward analysis, few laughs, until the next one. Glad the family has it's answers.
"Prison inspired memory recovery disorder". Hahahaha - I am anxiously awaiting the inclusion of this insightful disorder into the DSM's next edition!!
This happened in my state I really do feel for her.
Ok
I get that Peter was only 20, but he was so callous that even if not guilty he is surely a jerk. I think even at 20, a typical reaction to these tragic events would be to feel guilt that you didn't drive her back to her hotel. Because if he had, Britanee would still be alive. Not that any of this is his fault, mind you. But his reaction to what happened is borderline sociopathic.
To be fair; I might be angry and flippant too, if I was being accused of a HORRIBLE crime I didn't, and would NEVER commit.
Dr grande you should cover the case of cindy james if you ever get the chance. I've been curious about what really happened ever since I've heard of it
In case you missed it, he's done this fairly recently. ✌️🍍
Very sad.
@@Radhaaisch Nothing would surprise me with this case, good point.
"In the criminal justice system, there are always 3-to-5 innocent suspects in order to pad the runtime. These are their stories."
(Da-Dun!)
Funny!! 😂 (I mean, not in this case obviously, but the Law and Order reference, and very true also!! Made me laugh!)
