  • Born out of a social media post, the Black Lives Matter movement has sparked discussion about race and inequality across the world. In this spirited conversation with Mia Birdsong, the movement's three founders share what they've learned about leadership and what provides them with hope and inspiration in the face of painful realities. Their advice on how to participate in ensuring freedom for everybody: join something, start something and "sharpen each other, so that we all can rise."

It's not in this video and I never stated nor claimed that it was in this video. All I claimed is that those were her words, which is 100% factual. An EXTREMELY EASY UA-cam search of "Patrisse Cullors marxist" will render that in which you have been waiting to hear.

We have to condem racism without being part of the movement. First i liked BLM because they want justice for George and to fight racism but they began to REVEAL their true SOCIALIST face. Did you know the statue of an inmigrant that died defending the slavery that had been destroyed? Or the black business destroyed by rioters???? What about the communism signs in the city? You want to destroy a Abraham Lincoln Statue but NOT a Lenin statue? Open your mind and investigate the next target is JESUS.

That's your subjective opinion. One can make any argument these days and not have to actually support it with facts. I'd be interested in your comprehensive substantiation of this opinion.
I've heard people blame Trump for literally EVERYTHING from global warming to things that were put into place LONG before he even considered running for president to blaming him for being the reason that moons don't align.
Not a single one of them substantiated, ergo, completely invalid.
I wouldn't mind hearing another one. Of course you could expound upon and substantiate your opinion if you can.
      ;)

Black unemployment was lower than white unemployment in the 20s and 30s. The minimum wage has disinterested employers from hiring lower educated workers and workers with criminal records because now they have to pay them on par with people with clean records and higher education. No points for guessing which demographic this will hurt the most.

Most of the time I hear about entrepreneurs promoting free market capitalism, economic freedom, and all these other neoliberal values. I want to hear about political and ethnocentric entrepreneurship for right wing purposes. This BLM movement is not really right wing. But it is about dismantling the status quo, and I like learning from these people.

The bullies had white skin just like me. They bullied me for 6 years until we moved in with my grandmother. Yet in reality that's not how it works, humans will group up based on shallow similarities like skin color. They will justify murder and destruction. She is not saying hurricanes are racist. She is saying that black communities are most impacted by climate change such as harricanes. This is due to not enough support in black communities to rebuild their community when a natural disaster hits. And is often over looked in the media. Meaning less money to help these communities. Climate change is not racist. But the most impacted communities will be those that are systematically oppressed.

    • @butterflyman1250
      @butterflyman1250 3 роки тому

@Random Person yep systematically. Such as less likely to receive jobs, less likely to get promotions which is money that goes into the community (eg. Buying stuff), healthcare (more black women die from birth then white women), less doctor appointment, dentists appoints (because less money from jobs means less likely to go to the doctor), less funding for education in black communities, less funding for facilities in black communities. Less money from jobs means more likely for homelessness which means less likely to gain money to go into the community. As if you are homeless it is hard to get a job as u generally need your address on your resume, or need a bank account (which you need an address for), over policing of black communities. Also on resumes with ‘black’ sounding names were less likely to get hired by companies. So yes systemically. And that all means less money going into the community. Cause less education? Less likely to get a job, less likely for money to go into the community. Less facilities in the community? Less resources for people to seek help from mental health services and support survices. And with American health care I can’t imagine how expensive that would be. Less likely to get a job/job promotion? Less money in the community. Over policing? More likely to go to jail. Meaning less likely the community will reduce money. If you have gone to jail. Less likely to get a job, meaning less money for the community. And when I mean less money for the community I mean money coming from citizen to citizen. As well as money from the government.
So get this slavey ends in America (i’m not American) and then the prison system comes into place. Why is that? Well you have all these freed slaves, are people going to give them jobs? No. So what does the government do? Makes small crimes such as stealing worth many years in jail. Even tho if u don’t have a job (btw I’m not talking about present day in this context) how will u feed you and ur family? If you don’t steal? And then you go to prison. Where u work for basically nothing. So pretty much modern slavery. (It’s a hard concept for me to explain, but I would recommend looking into it! It’s pretty interesting)
I know your not going to believe me. I used to think systemic racism didn’t exist either, that black people are just doing fine in the world. Until I actually started researching and listening to black voices. But systemic racism runs deep. I’ll never understand what it’s like to be black as I am white. But I am trying to understand. So before u go systematically huh? Please listen to black voices in your communities, black friends, black leaders, black blogs, black books, black news outlets, black shows, etc. cause if you really don’t think it’s systemic, you haven’t talked enough with the black people in your life.

Black lives do matter and their communities do need help.
The organization blm on the other hand has a different agenda. Lots of money has been raised for this organization but that money is not helping the black communities. It is funding politics. These riots are organized and they are partnered with blm organization. Many people are pawns in this but there are players behind the scene with deep pockets and a political agenda. Be wary of people telling you how to think and what to think. Instead think for yourself. Don't succumb to group think or mob mentality. It's ok to have a different opinion than your professor or your friends. Do not succumb to peer pressure. Always seek the truth and stay true to your own morals. We need more open and caring communication instead of reacting in violence. This nation truly needs Jesus and his love and his care brought to us all no matter what background or what color. We need to do away with identity politics and tribalism and looked to the best race the only race. The human race. We must love each other and care for each other better. The best way to change the world is to change yourself. Honor your mother and father. Respect your elders. Keep family important. Break down family than you slowly break down society. Raise your kids right and show them you care because they are the future. Sorry just laying in bed had to get this rant off my mind. This world is getting crazy but theirs hope in Jesus. Jesus loves you. Idk who will read this but if you do bless your heart my prayers out to you and your family. God knows I need it too.

We just happened to be born white. Did you hear any of these women speak of real help to the Black community? No way because they personified only to care about themselves. IM SURE THEY NEVER EXPERIENCED THE PLEASURE OF GIVING AND HOW GOD GIVES YOU MORE TO GIVE. I don't know if it was ten fold but dam near as giving to charities rather than taxes after researching charity results. Just helping everyone if you are blessed is a high. Doing gods will got me a wagon which allowed me to help transport handicapped with wheel chairs and others needing a ride. BLM idea was a good idea but was limited by the intentions of the founders. You realize that white people fought alongside MLK for the civil rights movement? The country was much more white back then, so do you really think the civil rights act could have been passed without support from white people and the white president who signed it? And fighting perceived racism by being racist is not a solution, it's the opposite. Stop lumping ppl into groups based on skin color and try on a little intellectual diversity.

THE LYNCHING OF HISTORY SEEMS UNHINGED - Something in the debate with seems to have been overlooked history is complex, often unpleasant but complex. Slavery was an African invention from Egypt to Morocco when Europeans were hiding in caves Africans used slavery against other African nations. Barbary Pirates 1500s kidnapped and enslaved thousands of Europeans, the Barbary Pirates were black northern Africans and moors - the Portuguese commercialized the idea and the British realized the money that could be made. British slave traders rarely went into Africa as black Africans would bring blacks to the coast to sell to European slave traders.
Am I mad - retired university lecturer... almost as bad as racism is the editing of history to suit a political movement that is exactly what the Nazis did and look how that ended. Woke up ... how about fighting back against lunacy... Now in London a campaign to remove Churchill's statue could all end rather chaotically or worse.
I now live in France something similar happened here - Napoleon was a villain the local mayors answer in French to the local press was 'tell these politically correct imbeciles to f#### off and do something useful such as read a range of history books - napoleon of course really made modern France from canals to sewers to education, government structures to Paris architecture '.. French have a healthy disregard for stupidity, especially like this. Maybe for once we could learn something from the French. Because where does it end - remove the roads Romans used slaves to aid in their building, remove ships they were used to transporting slaves, sugar banned it has links to slavery ....
