Well, male lead voice does not really fit that song. He does not get as high as required to sing that song...
I'm a huge Toto fan from their beginning and no offense to Jack, this is not an easy song to sing. I just don't hear the power or the range in Jack's voice. Also, the timber in your voice doesn't add to the song. Good attempt though.
Joseph Williams, the original lead singer has talked about how bandmate and writer of the song, David Paich was like a slave driver to Williams to get him to get the vocals just right. Listen to any of Toto's live performances of this song and others and you will understand my comments.
