    UPDATE:
    TUESDAY, MAY 12TH, 2020 06:59PM (SAST).
This video has been edited to remove some misinformation about the AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED.
    WEDNESDAY, MAY 6TH, 2020 02:33PM (SAST).
    Hello there guys,
I hope you are well especially during this difficult time of COVID-19.
I apologize, something happened and all my responses were removed from the comment section which means all corrections and information I shared over the course of a year on this particular video are gone.
    ---------------------------------
    Hello there guys,
I hope you are well. I apologise for the terrible mistake I made when I referred to my AF-S version of the 70-300mm as a DX lens.
I found out and confirmed too late after posting the video and by then it had already taken off and I figured taking it down wouldn't be any more productive. I still stand by my conclusion 100% so the end is still the same regardless of MY AF-S lens' performance with FX Cameras.
My solution to correcting this is in part this Description update as well as some comments posted by other viewers. Please read comments not just on my channel but others as well as most commenters are still interested in helping and informing others not just destroying them. That being said, I pinned a really thorough comment by Ron Spi and I hope you all take the time to read it. Thank You 😊

Noise generally isn't a result of a lens, it is a result of the sensor and your ISO setting. However, the difference between the two lens are the tech used. The "P" is the type of autofocus motor. It is the Pulse Motor versus the Silent Wave motor "S". Also, the type of VR tech had improved from the S version to the P version. Putting the better VR in combination with the better autofocus motor is going to yield a sharper result from a series of shots than the S version with the older VR tech.
    With that said, there are some compatibility issues using AF-P lenses. The D3, D3s, D3x, D300, D300s, D700, D5200, and D7000 won't retain focus point when meter powers off. And these cameras are incompatible - D1 series, D2 series, D40 series, D50, D60, D70 series, D80, D90, D100, D200, D3000, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100. I would also take that into account before deciding which lens to get.

@@mduduzimota3599 not with the AF-P version of the lens. This is because the 3200 does not have the software or processing to send commands to the lens to control the pulse motor. You would have to get the AF-S version that has the Silent Wave Motor that the camera can communicate with.

@MoreTar's World, to answer your earlier comment, no, the D3200 is not compatible with the AF-P DX or FX (shown in the video) Lenses for the reasons @falcon048 mentioned above.

I've owned and used both of these lenses, on my old Nikon D300, and extensively, on my Nikon D7200 and D7500 DX DSLR bodies.
The newer AF-P E VR FX zoom lens just simply stomps the older AF-S G VR FX zoom lens.
The newer AF-P E VR FX zoom lens is lighter in weight, focuses faster, has better VR, and is much sharper than the older AF-S G VR FX zoom lens, especially from 200mm to 300mm.
That's all that needs to be said.
If you have a compatible DX and/or FX DSLR body, buy the newer AF-P E VR FX zoom lens.
You'll be very glad that you did.
    Good things! 👍

You are incorrect. BOTH lenses are Full Frame and not DX. There's a 70-300mm DX lens, but you're not reviewing it.
The AF-S was the first version. The AF-P has the stepper motor (Edit: the stepping motor is a faster and quiet one, allowing for smoother auto-focus shift while taking videos) inside the lens and new electronic diaphragm. if you don't use the camera for video, you won't feel the difference between the two lenses. If you do, you'll be able to hear the auto-focus motor adjusting in your video. Kind of annoying, but if you edit the video and place a different audio track, it will solve the issue.
Both lenses are very good, and if you place them on a DX body, they will behave like a 105-450mm lens equivalent.
Both lenses are at their sharpest zone at F8, and if placed on a tripod with remote shutter, you can get amazing shots of nature and landscape.
Those lenses are not the best for portraits, but if you have your subject far from you and you use at least 100mm settings, you can get a good space compression and a nice creamy background. No, it is not like a Prime lens, but it is a great light and very capable lens.
Other than that, a very nice video.

      Hello there Bob,
Sorry for the late response and I hope you are well.
The particular DX lens I have is not that sharp but that could be because of how long it has been used and the different conditions it has been subjected to.
I do believe that a brand new or well maintained DX version of this lens can be sharp.

      Hey Ajith,
Thank You for reaching out. To get a better understanding, here is a link to the compatibility table provided by Nikon: www.nikonimgsupport.com/eu/BV_article?articleNo=000035705&configured=1&lang=en_GB
Here you will notice that this particular AF-P FX lens is compatible with the NIKON D3300 but there is an extension that says "The camera does not offer the "Manual focus ring in AF mode" custom setting for enabling/disabling focus ring operation in autofocus mode." which is important to consider. The AF-S FX version is more compatible with the NIKON D3300 but if you can work around the technicalities with the AF-P, you could go for the AF-P since it is the more future proof decision. That is my choice and recommendation but I strongly advise you to read more about these lenses and make your own informed decision.

The focal length is what it is, no matter whether it's a DX or FX lens. Both lenses reviewed are FX, but there's actually a DX version of the AFP lens, which I would buy to use on a DX camera, because it's cheaper and also a sharp lens. The only reason to go for the FX is if you own an FX camera or plan to upgrade to one someday.

One important thing about this particular video is that I made a mistake when I referred to the specific AF-S 70-300mm lens I have and used in my video as a DX Lens. Please know that even though it is an FX lens as well, my verdict still stands and I believe the AF-P is the much better choice in my opinion.
One of the most useful comments on this thread with regards to the correction of my mistake is one from RON SPI which I pinned at the top, please read it and I hope you find it helpful.
Another is a link: www.nikonimgsupport.com/eu/BV_article?articleNo=000035705&configured=1&lang=en_GB which help you determine if your Nikon camera is compatible with any of the NIKKOR AF-P Lenses, please feel free to check it out.
I hope this comment is helpful and again I apologize for the misinformation and mistake I made when making this video.
    Cheers,
    Chris Dennis Rosenberg.

      Hello Prasad,
In my opinion and in conjunction with my Nikon D5600, the Nikkor AF-P 70-300MM lens produces sharper images.
I also believe the Nikkor AF-P would be a good combination with your Nikon D5300, however there are a few steps you have to take and those all have to do with updating your firmware on the Nikon D5300.
According to Photography Life, this is the compatibility table for the AF-P FX lens :
      Fully compatible models:
      D850, D500, D7500, D5600, D3400.
Fully compatible models (without limitations) after available firmware update:

      Compatible models with limited functions:
      D3, D3X, D3S, D700, D300, D300S, D7000, D5200.
      Incompatible models:
      D2 series, D1 series, D200, D100, D90, D80, D70 series, D60, D50, D40 series, D5100, D5000, D3200, D3100, D3000, film SLR cameras.

@@the_original_skytiger he's not purporting to be an expert, he's giving an opinion on youtube about a lens. If you buy lenses based on the opinions of a youtube video then you really shouldn't be buying lenses at all.

I am sure you heard the sections in the video where I spoke about the history of my particular version of the AF-S lens and how those factors may have contributed to me getting those results. I compared the lenses I had, no provided by Nikon out of the box etc but the lenses that I had and I shared the results while acknowledging the different factors that may have made the AF-S underperform. Thank you for your feedback.

I know, I made a mistake in the video but everything else I said still stands, and even though the AF-S is FX, I still recommend the AF-P as the better option.

I'm sorry to say... it's too hard to understand you. You talk very fast and in a mono tone. Your words run together continuously in seemingly endless sentences. I did not give you a thumbs down however. I just wanted you to consider my criticism as possibly productive.
Take your time. This is not your last week living on Earth. Try to pronounce your words with more clarity and separation. Be well and smile often.
