Hey everyone so I am aware that you can squeeze the shampoo directly from the cone. I do grow them so I pay extra attention to my plants. At the time this video was filmed it was in October. There are certain times in the season when it’s good to squeeze the cones (May-September) they go dormant just like any other plant so the cones will wilt especially with how aggressively I am milking them. At this time of year whether you squeeze the life out of them or not they won’t replenish when closer to winter. Because we were in fall I was preparing for first frost coming and ginger shampoo is sensitive and burns easily. Every year the leaves turn and die as well the the cones wilt and die. This plant grows in very moist grounds by the natural stream, of course there are going to be mosquitos. I didn’t want to film this video by the creek and get bit up a bunch, so I cut my cones and leaves so the whole plant wouldn’t decay. I left the ginger rhizomes in the ground to sprout again this spring. If you’re in a colder climate I suggest taking them out the ground or if they are in pots bring them inside!

I know it works like a conditioner it looks like..........But if you use it as a shampoo for cleaning do you need to rinse it? or is it like dry shampoo where you leave it in?
It is a natural cleanser, deodorizer so it will clean your hair but it is so moisturizing because it contains mostly water. That’s what makes it a leave in, because it is so moisturizing. Do what you feel comfortable doing. It doesn’t create flakes because there isn’t alcohol. It softens and nourishes the hair just like, aloe and flax gel.
This is amazing! People have totally lost touch with nature. Our heavenly and righteous Father YAH provided us with an abundance of natural remedies which people have forgotten how to use. 😕 Can you use it as a body wash? Does it condition the hair as well? Can you dilute it and use it as a leave conditioner? This is so exciting! Thank you so much for this video❤ Be Blessed ❤

That's so awesome. Truly one of my favorite plants. It never hurts to try one rhizome in the ground and add your own mixed dirt to the ground with a good amount of humus rich soil.
Can I grow these in zone 5-9 Ohio, I love to try. Do any animals like them like bees, snakes ? I don't want to grow if it draws that. Is it invasive Bec you said it grows by rizones? How does it do with other plants ? Thanks great video, thanks for sharing. Oh I wonder if it's edible as well❤
Hey Shampoo Ginger can be grown outdoors in USDA Hardiness Zones 8a-10b. You can try to grow them in containers outside after winter. You can also grow them inside at any point of the year. Ginger shampoo is a natural bug repellent and deterrent for mosquitoes flies, ants and cockroaches. Underground though it does attract small pass, such as a aphids, spider mites, thrips, and fungus gnats, but no snakes. Spraying Neem oil is a great natural deterrent! As for invasiveness. According to our Florida data, it is not invasive but it is a runner and a multiplier and it can overrun other plants in the garden so you do you want to either keep it contained in a container. Other options include if you have a yard planted in a low lying area With shade and enclose it so that I can run. It will not kill other plants. It will create space amongst others.
My stylist recommended awapuhi shampoo. I bought a bottle it was $30 and a small bottle. My friend just gave me this plant. I can’t wait to try it. I loved the product recommended, but this looks comparable and free, just need to care for a plant!
Hello. Thank you for your video! This is an amazing gift from God! ❤️My friend blessed me with me some rhizomes. 😃 What kind of soil do they need? How do I store the liquid, for year round use, when I don’t have the fresh plants?
Hey there! So, the Shampoo ginger can be used as a shampoo, conditioner, a massage oil for the hair or the body. Storing it can be done if kept in a sealed air-tight container glass or plastic. I suggest for safety to keep it in the fridge for up to one week and in the freezer for all year use so it can be easily thawed. I have kept it in the shower for up to a month no refrigeration, but I don't suggest it. They need a good amount of humus rich soil.
I won’t claim that ginger shampoo willwill completely eliminate the dandruff but it will help soothe your scalp and the amount of flakes will minimize. Adding fresh grated ginger into the mix to help the mixture become more potent and essential oils like tea tree and peppermint will help subside the symptoms. If this doesn’t help contact your dermatologist or local herbalist for more answers.

Forgive my ignorance. I have super sensitive Native American skin and hair. I’m hoping this helps as I finally got some and am 5 month into growing. Can I use this as my shampoo- as I understand African hair has different hydration needs. I hope I explained this well.
As humans, we all have a sensitivity to some thing, some more than others. Try it out for yourself on a small patch of skin. If it works for you than there you go you just won. There are various uses from bug repellent, skin moisturizer, hair, shampoo, call my hair moisturizer, and body wash.
Also just letting you know that this is a natural product, it has nothing to do with African hair, so… whether you’re white, black, or native of anything that can be used in your hair routine
I want to say I really love your content sis, and I appreciate your hard work, honesty, humility & wisdom. But I just want to know how do you grow them from scratch like with seeds? because I really want to grow these in my own garden and make my own natural hair, face, body & skin care products. Because I’m very curious and I want to learn new things as I go. But once again I really love your content, keep up the good work sis & don’t let haters stop you from doing your work. Your doing what’s right, and I appreciate it so much beautiful lady.
Thank you soo much. I appreciate your love support. Shampoo ginger grows from rhizomes just like the regular ginger that you find in the grocery store. But they are not the same thing you can order shampoo ginger rhizomes either on Facebook marketplace and check around your area, at your local nursery and on Etsy as well. All you need is a yard or a large container with drainage holes and good soil and fertilizer. You’re good to go.

Once you squeeze anywhere near the winter they will dry up. For the purpose of this video I cut them so I wasn’t in the backyard getting bit by mosquitos.
Ha ha I love the comment. I am very sure that there is a way because I see people sell shampoo ginger on Etsy. You can also check Facebook marketplace and local nurseries in the area. Try growing them in containers before you put them in the ground. I have not tried to mixing it with the yucca, but I will definitely let you know
Hello sister! Randomly i just searched for shampoo ginger and i caught your video... Your way of conveying is so good nice to hear from you... And are these plant will grow good in india? Im from south side of india (Chennai, tamilnadu).
I Shampooed my hair and garden for 3 hours and left it in as a deep conditioner. You can also apply this as a daily hair moisturizer, it gets slightly crunchy after it dries so it helps to form the curls as you saw my hair transition in the video. I believe you would be able to grow this plant in Russia. It just takes trial and error when growing a tropical plant in cold temperatures. Start growing in pots and make sure to bring in during the winter. If you grow outside make sure to cover the plants or cut back during the winter. The rhizomes can stay in the ground, or you can dig them up.
Hello gorgeous, educated, natural beauty! Excellent video. I’m wondering if we can harvest and store the inflorescence liquid. How long would it be viable at room temp vs refrigerated. Is it naturally shelf stable? Does anyone know if heat destroys the volatiles. Could we waterbath or pressure can it? Looking forward to discussing how we can preserve shampoo for year long refreshing tonic and shampoo.
Hey Maureen, I actually did mention in the video that I am going to leave it in while I’m in the garden. It turns into a very crunchy cast just like aloe Vera and flaxseed. You can leave it in as a deep conditioner, or as a leave in an ad other products, your hair or not. You can also moisturize your skin with it and much more.
Hey, I treated it like a leave-in conditioner and I rinsed it out after a couple of hours of having it in my hair. My hair was crunchy/curly and had a cast. Don't forget it is natural and all the benefits will help not harm. I hope this helped.
Hey, I’m glad you asked. Every time that I have squeezed them out try for me they have not refilled and I mean squeeze them out dry but if you squeeze them slightly, especially before they are fully mature, they will continue to refill, especially in warmer climates. It is also depending on how much you water your plants for them to refill. But within two weeks to the monthly refill.
Hey so I will be honest with you. I have had this plant in the garden for some years now. If you squeeze her ever so slightly without damaging the inflorescence they will continue to replenish. If you squeeze the bulb until it’s dry there is no chance for it to replenish because it has been destroyed and milked the life out of. They will usually start to wilt and they will soon dry up and the stem will turn yellow and die.
I am obviously aware that you can squeeze them from the bud directly without cutting because I grow them. There are certain times in the season when it’s good to squeeze the cones (May-September) they go dormant just like any other plant so the cones will while and won’t replenish when closer to winter. I chose to cut them because it was later in fall when I filmed this video knowing that first frost was coming and ginger shampoo is sensitive and burns easily. If you’re in a colder climate I suggest taking them out the ground or if they are in pots bring them inside!
I just bought 6 rhizomes and was wondering how to 1st plant them. I live in zone 8b so figured it is best to plant in containers and transfer outside when spring comes back around, my question is do you water them frequently or just 1 time when 1st planting them in containers until spring then water as you normally would. I don't want to rot the rhizomes but not sure of the actual planting process. Any advice is much appreciated.
Hey so it all depends on where you live but “In USDA Zone 8, these plants survive winter when mulch is added to the soil and the roots and rhizomes are protected from freezing.” They do pretty well in Florida and are tolerant until temperatures reach below 55 deg, bring them inside. Planting them in pots or even keeping the rhizomes in a ziploc bag until spring is helpful if you live in a cold environment. Snip the leaves that die from the first frost. Keep them dry during the dormant winter months and they should also be seasonally waterlogged. I hope this helps, happy gardening!
@@reneeroxann thank you for the information. I live in East Texas we normally don't have really harsh winters but after last year I am cautious lol. I figured I would try tulips and the ginger lily this year and if it's a success I may try some in the ground next year.
Yes, I don’t see why not. Try growing them in containers first and then planting them outside during the summer months. You do need to cut them down right before fall and then you can dig up the rhizomes and bring them inside and put them in the fridge or in containers just so that they don’t freeze over.
I’m still using shampoo ginger, and will always use it. Healthy natural plants need their praise. I use it for everything from bug repellent, skin, moisturizer, hair moisturizer/gel, shampoo. Use it for everything is wonderful.
I do not currently sell but you can find plants at your local nursery or online at ETSY OR FB Marketplace. People are selling plants as well as the fresh product. Make sure to ask when they squeezed the batch just in case it's been a while you don't want old shampoo.
Hey 👋 yes you absolutely can use this for face, body, and hair. (It is just as safe as the regular ginger plant).. I usually keep it in a bowl with a lid in the shower and add flower petals snd shower with it as normal. You may use more than your regular body wash because it doesn’t have harsh chemicals to make it sudsy. It works great and you’ll smell wonderful. Thank you so much!
Do you wash it out after you put it on? Every video I've seen of ppl demonstraring how to apply. No one has said whether to wash ot out or leave it on.
You can leave it in our wash it out. It’s is a natural medicinal product so it won’t create damage to your hair or skin when left on for time. Use it as a lotion, shampoo, or leave in product…. PS it was stated in my video.
Do you rinse it out or keep it in anyway I got this plant in my yard and I did not know you could wash your hair with it thanks for showing me now I know what it is at Ginger shampoo plant and it is gorgeous
This is the first I'm hearing of the existence of shampoo ginger, but I really wish that there was someone recording the nature around you as well. While the subject of what she was speaking is fascinating, there was so many insect and animal noises I've never heard before.#city girl
Got ya. It was an educational video so I couldn’t get to in depth with the animals and all the nature surrounding. You were hearing squirrels, owls, hawks and kite birds. My neighbor also has a crow.
Are usually keep it on the shelf in my bathroom for one week by the seventh day it usually starts to get super watery and loses the smell. In the refrigerator it can last up to a month or you can freeze it as well. You can also add your own preservatives and soap to make it last longer.

I really do adore this plant so much. I recently downsized and had to leave a lot of my plants with my mother-in-law and I had to take some shampoo ginger rhizomes with me, of course.
I remember the first time i came across this plant on a trip overseas, i thought it looked unusual and i wanted to poke and prod it out of curiosity but decided better to leave it alone , MAN if i had known i would have squeezed da heck out of it!😃
I want a do over 😂😂
Loll it’s always good to be curious! When I first saw them I actually didn’t know they could be squeezed. I thought they were going to open up into a large beautiful bloom.
Wow! Thank you for your review (my introduction to) this beautiful and amazing plant.
Thank you for watching. I am glad I could help.
I am definitely getting this and I’m going to try it seems like it’s gonna work wonders

Does it condition the hair as well?
Can you dilute it and use it as a leave conditioner?

I would love to try this! But unfortunately I don’t think it would be possible to grow this plant here in Sweden. Maybe one day I’ll be able to try it on a vacation somewhere. Also, you are so pretty!

@@reneeroxannwould you sale any?

I want to used this so i will not have dundruff anymore , great video
I won’t claim that ginger shampoo willwill completely eliminate the dandruff but it will help soothe your scalp and the amount of flakes will minimize. Adding fresh grated ginger into the mix to help the mixture become more potent and essential oils like tea tree and peppermint will help subside the symptoms. If this doesn’t help contact your dermatologist or local herbalist for more answers.
She’s beautiful 🥰😌

I've tried bringing in the plant before it got to cold. the leaves survived but the cone still died. They naturally go dormant so it will happen.

You can squeeze without cutting and they will refill
Once you squeeze anywhere near the winter they will dry up. For the purpose of this video I cut them so I wasn’t in the backyard getting bit by mosquitos.
Does it lather so we can use it on oily hair?????
Anyone please tell me...
It has a lot of slip like aloe Vera. Yes it lathers when mixed with water. When crushed or rubbed in water, the rhizomes produce a soapy lather!
good option actually

Is there a way to get shampoo Ginger in New York City, excuse me Harlem, and does that work well with yuca?

Try growing them in containers before you put them in the ground. I have not tried to mixing it with the yucca, but I will definitely let you know
Hello sister! Randomly i just searched for shampoo ginger and i caught your video... Your way of conveying is so good nice to hear from you... And are these plant will grow good in india? Im from south side of india (Chennai, tamilnadu).
Hey lovely. Thank you so much for watching. This beautiful plant is actually native to your area and would grow considerably well!
In Karnataka we have this plant with different names
@@reneeroxann ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Surely it grows abundantly in south India
But r u going to wash it out? Can I grow it in south of Russia? Normally by winter it's from 0 to +10 degrees, and summer is hot + 35
Oh my god, your hair is SO lovely!!!🥰

@@jeaninepetkov5378 There’s no science to it. Do what you feel is right. I used it as a leave in/deep conditioner and then rinsed.
I have read that you can freeze it for later use. That's what I will be trying.

Love ur hair 💝😊
Thank you!
Did you rinse it out or leave it in like a leave in conditioner?
Hey, I treated it like a leave-in conditioner and I rinsed it out after a couple of hours of having it in my hair. My hair was crunchy/curly and had a cast. Don't forget it is natural and all the benefits will help not harm. I hope this helped.

Hello, how long does the plant take to refill after you squeeze out the shampoo?
3-5 days depending on how much it rains or how much you water it
Hey, I’m glad you asked.
You are so beautiful! I love your hair ❤️
Thank you so much ❤️ you are gorgeous
Your hair is amazing! 🥰
Thank you so much ❤
I have watched in other videos that you can just squeeze it from where it’s planted and it replenishes in 24 hours
Also because this plant grows in very moist grounds there are of course going to be mosquitos so I didn’t want to film this video by the creek and get bit up a bunch, so I cut my cones and leaves so the whole plant wouldn’t decay and left the ginger rhizome in the ground to sprout again this spring.
Here is a website just in case my answer didn’t help.

@@reneeroxann thank you for the information. I live in East Texas we normally don't have really harsh winters but after last year I am cautious lol. I figured I would try tulips and the ginger lily this year and if it's a success I may try some in the ground next year.

@fancygirl822 hi, would you mind sharing where you buy them? Thanks alot.
Do you think these would grow in Iceland?😭serious question though
Probably not, but what would it take to grow this indoors?
Yes, I don’t see why not. Try growing them in containers first and then planting them outside during the summer months. You do need to cut them down right before fall and then you can dig up the rhizomes and bring them inside and put them in the fridge or in containers just so that they don’t freeze over.
Are you still using this? Can you use it as a leave in conditioner?
I’m still using shampoo ginger, and will always use it. Healthy natural plants need their praise. I use it for everything from bug repellent, skin, moisturizer, hair moisturizer/gel, shampoo. Use it for everything is wonderful.
Does it smell good? What does it smell like?
It smells exactly like a regular ginger root with a tropical/floral hint.
Do you sell this? I want to buy a plant but research says it doesn’t bloom until spring, I want to use it immediately.
I do not currently sell but you can find plants at your local nursery or online at ETSY OR FB Marketplace. People are selling plants as well as the fresh product. Make sure to ask when they squeezed the batch just in case it's been a while you don't want old shampoo.

Got ya. It was an educational video so I couldn’t get to in depth with the animals and all the nature surrounding. You were hearing squirrels, owls, hawks and kite birds. My neighbor also has a crow.
What is the shelf life of the liquid?
Are usually keep it on the shelf in my bathroom for one week by the seventh day it usually starts to get super watery and loses the smell. In the refrigerator it can last up to a month or you can freeze it as well. You can also add your own preservatives and soap to make it last longer.
