I really appreciate this talk! It feels good to hear people discussing this rather than only thinking about it alone.
I've been subscribed to the 'bulletproof musician' newsletter for a couple of years. The studies are great and informative but putting them into practice is the key that eludes me. I practice and it seems ineffective though long-term I've seen improvements. The issues I've had continue to be my issues going forward. I'm concious of those issues and work diligently on them, though not routinely because musicianship is my hobby not my profession, but I also have performance preparation etc.. I'm hopeful that through my mindfulness of my weaknesses I'm improving but improvement is slow at best!
These are relatively short spurts of what you're doing with your products- but it's a shame that these have the lowest views out of all your videos. These interviews are utterly valuable to any musician.
I've been trying to apply the varied learning concept to my own practice based on your interviews with Dr. Kageyama. Hard to know if it's working or not so far, but it's been interesting switching things up. Still working on the Pepsi lick and it is just so hard! Thanks, Troy!

Where can I find more on this subject from this person?I've always been into the neuroscience side of playing guitar and it has helped me tremendously.I've always wondered why I've retained only certain phrases and have instant recall on them,and others I need to warm up to play them right.Very interested in guitar and its relation to neuro-muscular long term memory.

Troy - you have made me pay attention to technique more than any teacher I have had in my life and I thank you for it. I was just watching some sound check video of SRV and since I've studied your lessons I finally was able to observer some of what he is doing to achieve what he did. I think he's adding pick action with his middle finger on some of the notes to emphasize some of the "scream" we hear from his technique. I wasn't sure where to post this but I think you should talk about what he is doing some. I think I am right but you would know for certain. Here is this incredible sound check video and warm-up from 1986. Please look at it. Thanks for everything!
