I got this Shark vacuum cleaner at a thrift store for $5 but it was disgustingly dirty. It smell very strongly of pet odor. But, I was able to get so clean, it is now the main vacuum for my cleaning business.

Thinking about cleaning the hoses … reminded of the swab that musicians use to clean a saxophone or other woodwinds. You could almost make something. Tie one end of a string/cord to a weight and tie the other end to some towel strips or fabric softener sheets or something like that …

My hack that I use a seam ripper on roller for the hair. Quick and easy. Great tutorial. I love my Shark. It's 100% better than the Dyson I had.

Thank you for the toothbrush tip. I'd been standing looking at my Shark for 20 minutes scratching my head over how to get the fluff off the wire filter. No other video even covered how to clean that part. My vacuum was awful. Bought it a year ago and never cleaned it. It was the howling noise that forced me to take it apart 😂

I’m kinda new to cleaning? And I am not 100% sure but pretty sure this model is the same one my mom has I just used it to vacuum out my dresser. And I couldn’t figure out how to unlock to empty the tank thing so thanks for the upload I just subscribed and I will subscribed on my other profile .

They can get gross, but clean up nicely.
me too. I like to use an air compresser to blow out all the dust and dirt as a starter. Then I clean it with solutions.

For the cleaning of the hoses, what about that thing we use to clean the lent from the dryer
That might work. It would definitely get out junk that could clog the hose. Might not be so good at removing smells. I think it would be great for maintenance cleaning. Thank you for the suggestion! 💕
The handle on the hose on my Shark can’t be submerged like that one so I get a lint brush that’s used to clean out my dryer vent. You could probably clean your hose better with that? And Shark sells replacement filters 😀

If I understand your question, I don't think you can remove the actual handle part from the hose without damaging the vacuum cleaner. Thank you for your questions.

I bought the Shark NV352 brand. Where can I get attachments that will allow me to vacuum the corners near the ceiling
Check Amazon or eBay. Shark attachments seem to be universal. My brush attachment has seen several different vacuum cleaners.

You can take an air compressor and blow compressed air through the motor in both directions and also through the filter in both directions with an air compressor and blow out the dirt. that will get your motor clean and it will also get your filters clean also you can use an air compressor to blow through the hoses. stretch them out as long as you can stretch them and then blow air through them in both directions
That's probably really good advice if you have an air compressor. I'm sure they come in handy for a lot of things.
Hi nice video. I am blind and I’m wondering if your shark is the same as mine. I bought mine in 2016. And my container opens from the top from the bottom. The filter almost look like a toilet paper and under that. another flat piece. But I have a question.
The hose disconnect from the container which is also part of the motor and the other section is where the switch is at on the top on the long tube. Well. knowing that the hose has wires inside because it does have electronics. How can I clean it with water if it has wires inside?

Even though I’ve been keeping my vacuum cleaner mostly clean for the past five years but once in a blue moon it picks up a little bit of cat poop since my cat is 17 years old and sometimes he does it on the corner of the floor.
Like twice a year if he has pain and he cannot go to the litter box.
How can I clean the hose? Everything else is easy.

Yes, I do. It doesn't need to be cleaned as often though.
On mine, the cone comes out and I just soak it along with the other parts
Is it an issue to use water on the metal dust cone filter inside the dust collection bin? Would that be an option to deep clean inside of it?
You want to make sure it dries completely so it doesn't rust.

The majority of problems come from people that treat these things like bag vacs, causing obvious neglect. Letting collected dirt and debris back into the cyclone part of the chamber and not cleaning the filters as-needed (more important and possibly frequent than suggested schedule) tend to lead to it not getting good suction and reducing the motor's life. Only the front of the collection canister should fill up if being used correctly, with the occasional heavy stuff like coins or lost jewelry being on the bottom of the cyclone. The other big problem is people vacuuming up anything that's wet, which leads to stuff sticking to the hose and tube and getting funky mold smells. These vacuums are for dry dirt and debris only.

how do you get everything COMPLETELY dry??
Excellent question. I have to let it air dry on the inside. Sharks have a sensor that can tell if parts are wet. A safety features will keep it from starting if it is wet. I have to do this on a day when I don't have customers scheduled.

Amy Williams this on was like that when I got it. It was used. I never had a problem if I make sure it is completely dry.

It didn’t smell after I cleaned it. However, I clean houses with pets so it will get stinky again. This is why I love my sharks though. I can get them really clean so they don’t smell at the next house.
You guys, i had a smelly vacuum. That paper filter, please just replace it. I cleaned it and it took FOREVER to dry. Just replace that one.
Your great. But, since the vacuum was wet inside...I would be very concerned that the hepa filter and hoses have black mold in them which is highly toxic. Personally I would throw that vacuum away.
You have to make sure everything is dry before you put it back together. Shark actually has a safety feature that won't allow it to turn on if it's wet. They also recommend washing the filters for the best performance. I have to agree though, if for some reason the filters get mouldy, it's best to buy new.
Its really hard to hear you between the wind and traffic.

Ahem you are driving the dirt into that square filter! Turn it around. Need a face mask to avoid breathing in other people’s germs and filth. I use a serrated knife on daughter’s vac beater brush. D and Gdaughter have long dark hair. You can’t even seeeeee the bristles for the HAIRRRRRRRR.
