Wow! I can't believe it's been four years of TT and you are are 65K subs! Hard earned and well deserved respect- not to mention lots of free content like this beginners swim program! How could anybody possibly knock this, I ask myself?
1.Head needs to be looking straight down. 2. Arms need to be below your head on diagonal .3. no knee bend. 4. gentle walking gait compact kick with toe flick Terry Laughlin, Total Immersion Swimming book, 1996.
Thanks for the video. Like you said previously, there are many very very new athletes watching your channel. So all these basic tips are much appreciated.
Hey. I am learning how to swim for some weeks now. I have built up good confidence. So I do not float on back yet or my stomach. When using the kick board I have the movements down, but my legs sink. The edge of the pool techniques only works for me if the noodle is under me. I am also a very muscular and big man. Any advice you for me? My instructor has been helping me.
I start out ok on the swim...but as i lose my stamina throughout the swim, i start to fold up like a taco. I know more pool time will help, but it isn't always possible to find 3-4+ hours per week to get to the pool. As such, i would love to see some dry work on exercises to build stamina to hold my form during the swim. Thanks!
Yoho Yoho, no more sinky legs for me. Since I started watching your videos I've really started to enjoy swimming instead of just struggling through it. Breath less..., for example, so counter intuitive but made such a yuge difference. Harrrr Captain Taren :D Rock OnwardAndUpward!
I've definitely got sinky legs!! This off-season here in Australia I'll be working strongly on building my swim to be better. Looking forward to get into the protriathlon swim training program - and putting the exercises from this video in there too!
I wish this could work for me. I not only have sinky legs, I sink like a rock too. Also, incredibly stiff ankles. One of my swim coaches was amazed that my legs still sunk even with a pull buoy.
I have sinking legs big time. (I grew up riding dirt bikes, might have something to do with that 🤔) Unfortunately this, just like so many other advise that I've gotten, don't help much. They somehow al seem to avoid adressing the real issue. -That (for me) is that the HEAD sink when I lift my arm above the water. Making impossible to breathe. So it becomes a balancing act, allowing my hips to sink makes it possible get my lips above the surface. But cause a shit load of drag. It is, almost, possible, to swim with my hips and feat at the surface, if I swim with a snorkel and the head is comfortably submerged al the time. 😢
Taren as a newbie I struggle with this loads. Have you got a fix for robot shoulders?? My swim buddy says I'm not rotating enough and that my shoulders are out of the water which affects my stretch. X
Yes certainly use a snorkel, a snorkel may also be helpful regulating your breathing, I recently started using a snorkel after years of swimming. Good Luck 👍
For God's sake! Next time can you please go straight to the point and stop repeating the same thing over and over again? We already got that you missed to cover this point in your last 4 years. Then, please go to how to fix it.
I can't swim. Cause i can't breathe under water and i got sinky legs from working out on treadmills and stairmasters for way too long. But lately they're not that muscular since i haven't worked out in a long time.
Actual advice starts at 5:00

Wish I saw this video before my first sprint. Now I have it for the next race.
How about a video on your process for making a video (start to finish). I don’t know how you keep cranking out new content day after day!
Can you use a snorkel for the kicking drills?
Do it!

I can't swim. Cause i can't breathe under water and i got sinky legs from working out on treadmills and stairmasters for way too long. But lately they're not that muscular since i haven't worked out in a long time.
Did the fact that you start to have less muscles helped you in swimming?
You don’t have to hide camouflage kickboards
After catching up on podcasts today, I thought the answer was floaty pants!
George, you beat me to it. Lol
5:03
Just get to the damn content not the egotistic intro
Worst part of UA-cam 😑
Captain Sinky Legs LOL I should be your sidekick then...
i bet the most common reason for sinking legs for beginners is that they forget to kick!
No, Its body position, kicking is just a small part of forward propulsion.
Or ineffective kick

At last
Waffle waffle waffle
Shut up!! It is.
