Wow. You really dissect the stroke so well. It makes me hunger for the water. Great instruction like this will help me swim better and easier butterfly. It helped, and for me, more time in the water helped me better understand the stroke. Each viewing of the video brings more insight.
thanks so much for the break down of all the components! I am a Masters swimmer and found out that I forgot the second kick although I am ranked highly for 25, this video really helps with drills etc to work on...not having a coach nearby hinders learning the techniques..and your videos really help. One can't stop learning every day!
I'll get there, currently doing maximum two laps a day monitoring if and how it could injure shoulders. Certainly the most demanding stroke, it can take even 10 laps of other strokes to get tired as doing a butterfly, but if you don't have much time one could simply focus on it to get the daily workout.
This was extremely helpful for my 200 IM because I didn't become exhausted after the first 50. I usually would've gotten so tired, but your triangle technique helped me a ton!
Chloe, You are honestly the best swimmer on UA-cam and you give the best tips!🏆 I needed something terrific like this since I have a competition coming up really soon! I really needed this information!😊 You inspire me so much! I hope this helps me! Thank you!😁👍
Thanks so much, the remark about the 'diamond' improved my attempt at 'butterflying' a lot (currently teaching myself front and butterfly crawl, started that last year).
chloe sutton, what can i say. you have no idea how much i am benefiting from your videos. i really like the way you scrutinize the strokes. you are the best, thanks a lot
Hi Chloe, I watched your video and tried out your drills today. After just one session I find my fly timing improved tremendously - something which I've been grappling with. I'll continue to work on the drills. In my humble opinion, these are what set you videos apart. (1) Simplicity and clarity. In very few words you drive across the most important aspects for each components of the stroke making it easy to understand for lay folks like myself. You go into enough details for serious amateur but not over peppering it with incomprehensible details. As an example, you explained the breathed timing so succinctly that I asked myself why i didn't understand it earlier. In fact, most other videos just speaks about the kick timing and forgets the breath timing altogether. (2) You organise the video in a very meaningful manner building the stroke from the back. In addition, you were properly focused during each section. Back to breath timing, I thought it was amazing how you focused only on the breath timing first, choosing to cover breathing with a low chin during the body position section. (3) Each of your key points are "taught" with a prescriptive drill. All of the drills are very useful. Many of the drills are not new, but you made them purposeful. I noticed that you have done such a video for every stroke except Freestyle - though you've made various videos covering various aspects of the stroke. Could you please make one complete video on Freestyle too? I am sure myself, along with many others, will benefit greatly from it. Finally, I do hope you get many students and enrollments. :) Once again, thank you very much for all your superb videos.
Fantastic video, best I've seen. One question: during drills I notice your feet come to the surface on almost every stroke. However, in full-swim they generally stay a few inches under the surface. Should your feet come to the surface?
Lol no one has to own a pool. You can swim at your local swimming pool. This is not a swimming pool. This is a swimming treadmill and I’m pretty sure you’re not even a swimmer. You can’t learn butterfly without even knowing how to swim freestyle and you’re gonna drown in a 4 foot pool. Plus, you can’t afford this pool. This pool costs approximately 1 million dollars.
It was a great experience to watch for the first time, congratulations on this enlightening video! I think I'll have to watch many more times to correct my mistakes and have a better technique, but you made it easier for sure!!!
Im really happy i found this video, yester day before my 500 free, my coach was talking about you, i love fly i just want to get faster and i think this helped so thank you, i have head problems, i never seem to get it to stay straight in free, but i went from a 8 minute 500 to a 6 minute 500,
Thank you Chloe for this amazingly great tutorial! The best one on youtube for sure! I have a question: I tend to move my hands in an upward motion after entering the water, gliding a little before the catch phase. This comes naturally to me as a consequence of my body ondulation. But the correct technique requires to catch the water as soon as the hands enter the water without the gliding phase, right? What am I doing wrong? Any tips to correct my form? When I try it my overall timing/coordination feels messed up. Thanks!
Your videos are really helpful. Thanks a lot! One arm dolphin kicks make it easy to practice timing. Practicing butterfly seems to help freestyle, too. I am a bit over middle aged and I feel I can't improve freestyle as quick as I want. But now I am motivated.
Chloe, would you be so kind as to say more about the chest press and how it makes undulation? Does it start the undulation or end it, or both? Does it occur at the end of the arm press, or just before the arms enter the water or both? Thank you in advance. Great tutorial but it all goes by so fast, just like you do!
Yoooo I’ve been doing these drills off and on for about a month. It Really helped developed my butterfly stroke! I was surprised how graceful my stroke has become. Breathing is still tough :( I love one arm drills in general :3
Great butterfly swimming tips and drills, help me to improve and enjoy my swimming. Thank you for sharing.. Your swimming is very smooth and you are also very pretty :)
Thank you for the advice especially on the pull drills! I do wonder if physiological characteristics affect the difficulty. For instance, the length ratio of trunk to limbs.
I have always wanted to use this stroke in my workouts but havent cuz I would look incredibly bad at it, but after this tutorial I cant wait to try it. Great instructions
Lorenzo Valdez and how will you swim better if you dont. Fuck shame, as soon as you practice you will get better and you wont be concerned about looking bad anymore
Wow you make this look so easy. I'm starting swimming lessons later this year and I hope I can develop these skills some day. Your swimming skills are amazing!
I am into the swimming. Before these videos, i did not know who she is,although she was a world class athlete.because, the media focuse on champions.she is not the best swimmer.but a very good one, first class athlete and great teacher.well balanced description and demonstration.she is also pretty.

Really helpful progressions with expanations of why drills are done. i always share your teaching vlogs with my daughter who is a keen age swimmer. What is the pool called that you are using to demo the drills and stroke?
Wow. You really dissect the stroke so well. It makes me hunger for the water. Great instruction like this will help me swim better and easier butterfly.
It helped, and for me, more time in the water helped me better understand the stroke. Each viewing of the video brings more insight.

you deserve more than 2 olympic medals
She has 3

Daniel Nemiroff when you take a breath, body angles a bit and feet sink. When doing drills head down, you're horizontal and legs don't come out.
Stunningly beautiful Olympic swimmer with perfect form teaching me how to swim! Thanks internet.
General Gaige Biggs I don't speak muslim oh my bad Biggs Amish Biggie smalls?lmao
Wow. This is a great tutorial! I think now I understand why I have some shoulder injuries after doing butterfly. Thanks Chloe!
😭 I wish I had a pool

Your videos are really helpful. Thanks a lot! One arm dolphin kicks make it easy to practice timing. Practicing butterfly seems to help freestyle, too. I am a bit over middle aged and I feel I can't improve freestyle as quick as I want. But now I am motivated.
