The Nothing Man is the only book I’ve read from Catherine Ryan Howard, and I absolutely LOVED it!!! So excited to read more! As always, great video!! You’re so genuine and your energy is contagious! Puts me in such a good mood! ❤️
So glad that you enjoyed the Catherine Ryan Howard books! I picked 56 Days from BOTM a few months back and then got on the backlist kick. Her writing is really engaging.
My TBR list gets bigger with every video I watch. I've added 4 to it just now from this video alone. 😊 I started reading Pretty Little Wife after watching one of your videos. I am halfway through it and enjoying it so far. Wouldn't have picked it up if I hadn't see it in one of your wrap up videos 💙
Yes, The Nothing Man was my favorite thriller of 2020, so good! I also really enjoyed 56 Days. The Anthropocene Reviewed was such a charming book. The audiobook is wonderful because he narrates it. Great wrap-up.
So glad you enjoyed *Jade City* 💚 I finished the Saga and thought it was AMAZING 🙌🏽 The best way I can describe it... It's like The Godfather with a hint of "magic"... I LOVED it and it's BRILLIANT 🤩
I’m literally so thrilled you loved The Anthroprocene Reviewed! It was my #1 non fiction book of 2021. I listened to the audio and I loved it. I laughed and I also cried (googling people!). It made me feel small in the world, but also gave me hope, filled me with wonder. Truly so so good. I (ironically) gave this book five stars. ⭐️
The Nothing Man was fantastic. I need to read 56 Days and Play. The Anthropocene Reviewed was a beautiful audiobook. He also did a podcast with the same name. His voice is so soothing.
I liked Nothing but Blackened Teeth too! We are few and far between but there are some people who enjoyed it 😂 I also loved 56 Days so I need to check out her other stuff!
Im surprised you liked a Head full of ghosts... i read it in January 2021 and i haaaated it, i thought it was so incredibly boring 😭😂 i gave it straight to the book exchange when i finished it
Hahaha I mean you’re not wrong it was kind of boring for the most part 😂 I heard it was more of a family study before I started it though so I feel like my expectations were in the right place going in. And I just loved the ending👀
A great list as usual! Really excited to get into Tremblay’s backlist as well! Haven’t read A Head Full of Ghosts yet but seems like most people love it! And Rewind sounds so good ⏪ can’t wait! ✨ and yeah I’m gonna have to pick up The Nothing Man… serial killer pov? Sold ✨
I always get so excited when you post new videos!! I would love to see your current TBR for some inspiration for more winter time reads 🙂 also just out of curiosity, what’s your job?
Thanks so much! I actually posted an end of the year TBR video a little over a month ago that was full of wintertime TBR books!! And I’m the communications manager for a public service agency 😄
Loved your video as always. Going to add some of these books to my TBR. I agree with you on Near The Bone. I was a little disappointed with the book. I think I gave it a 3.5 star. It was good but something fell short for me. I did just finished reading twelve nights at Rotter House. I don’t know how I feel. I still don’t know if I understood it. I keep trying to work it out in my mind. Maybe I need to read it again. Thanks again for all your recommendations. Look forward to another video. 😊
Completely agree about near the bone!! Without spoiling anything, I guess I’d say I wanted more….. monster? Haha didn’t expect that much emotional/abusive horror! Still terrifying but definitely wanted more gore! Also the ending of NTB left me a little confused about the theme I think
@@carolinejohnson3483 I totally agree. Didn’t care for the abuse and I still don’t know anything about the monster. I guess there was two of them?🤨. Would have loved more monster too!!!
have you read The Blacklands by Belinda Bauer? it also has a serial killer perspective and it’s super atmospheric and tense. i hope my library has The Nothing Man! I’ve been eyeing a lot of CRH’s backlist -academiabby
ahh it’s tough to say bc I don’t want to write any spoilers! It wasn’t anything bad, but the postscript at the end of the book was a little too… spoonfed for me? Not sure how else to explain it without being specific haha but there were just a few things that had been foreshadowed throughout the book and then at the end I felt like those subtleties were kind of over explained. Just a personal preference probably!
If I Disappear might have been the WORST book I read last year. Huge disappointment! I felt like the author did t actually like true crime, but maybe wanted to jump on the bandwagon for the hype…and it showed. 😬

So glad to have found your channel! I am looking for more booktubers who lean more into the thriller/mystery genres vs romance.
I read the American kingpin per your recommendation and it was SO GOOD
oh man, yes, the nothing man was so addictive! It read like a mix between a thriller and a true crime book!
You influenced me to read American Kingpin. I never heard of this happening. It was a great read.
I really liked The Nothing Man and can't wait to read more books from Catherine Ryan Howard.

My first thought when the video started: dang care’s bedroom looks like a hotel
Care: so I’m in a hotel!!
When I saw you read jade city on Goodreads I said what in tarnation
“So in this fantasy world” - phrases Caroline recently said for the first time
Haha what is even happening

Wait, what was the cringe thing that happened in The Nothing Man? I've read it but can't remember enough to know what that might be 😅

Geological state? Like rocks? Lol
Hahaha apparently not 😂 it’s like the study of the history/structure of the earth. Like the current age we’re in or something
