Well no. If you’re bringing dominance of the sport into it then Tiger isn’t just the most dominant golfer ever by FAR, he’s the most dominant athlete ever
Tiger derangement syndrome. The guys career was only about 8 years. Jack dominated in three decades. Not only did he have more firsts, he had more seconds than any player in history. Tiger by comparison was a flash in the pan.
Everything about this is great. An old Nicklaus at the end of his career, battling one last time to make the weekend at Valhalla. Determined, drenched in sweat, a true competitor. And a passing of the torch to his playing partner Tiger Woods who, despite being laser focused on winning the tournament (which he did), likely enjoyed taking a back seat-even if for a few seconds over each of Nicklaus' swings-to the GOAT!
What’s cool is every time Jack retired from a major, Tiger won. 2000 US Open, 2000 British,2000 pga, 2001 Masters, and came back again 2005 British Open.
3:18 I thought Jack was a terrible wedge player. lol Love that look Tiger gave him after the final hole.....like "yep, you are a bad man and everything I expected." Only in golf can you have moments like this passing of the torch. Simply awesome to see.
I watched Nicklaus once on one hole. He hit a wild drive, then hit a brilliant wedge off hardpan to a few feet. Not what you'd expect. I was truly amazed at how he could focus at all with the crowd breathing all over him. Watched Tiger once as well. His swing was amazing to watch, and the crowds were similarly suffocating, but he was having a bad round, and his behavior was atrocious. Very different characters. I'm glad Jack was the guy when I was young.
And Nicklaus is getting all emotional. "Oh, this is my last time." As he walks over Ray's creek for the final time. As he retires from golf for the sixth time. But he'll be back. He did this every year for yesrs, that one last stroll as he went into "retirement." Got kind of old after a while. He never has quit. He even got a hole in one in the Par 3 contest at Augusta at age 76. He'll be back.
One thing I can't get over in this broadcast is what a hog Vijay Singh was on the tees. Jack hardly finished his swing before Vijay was stepping all over the tee box. It was really annoying.
@@mikegrebe536 Tiger was the most talented player ever. Some consider that to be the GOAT. I don't. To me the person with the best record over the course of a career when you adjust for field strength is the GOAT. Tiger's career was just too short to be the GOAT. Jack has 37 top 2s. Tiger barely has that many top 10s. Jack was just way more consistent and he did for a decade longer at the top and was still relevant in his 50s. The BOAT (Best of All Time) is a better title for Tiger.
Hogan and Jones are also in the running. All 4 did a lot of amazing things that the other three didn't. Ultimately, there is no answer, and it's probably a foolish pursuit.
He ended up missing the cut by 1 because of how he played the first day. But still, obviously a pretty good round at age 60 coming back from hip surgery.
Easy to forget just how GREAT this guy was . Even this fab video does it nò justice, what a true icon of sport . We will never witness same again.
The greatest of all time. No one dominated golf like Jack. No one had the longevity. No one had more class.

@@SpinandThrowDiscGolf Prime Tiger could've smoked prime Jack with only 5 clubs
An absolute grinder. Zero quit.
The greatest.... Simple. Not only in golf, but in sport the greatest sports person ever... For me anyway
THE goat. 18 baby. 18.

Brings a tear to the eye seeing the old great king on the battlefield one last time....
What a great man and ambassador for the game.
Beautiful and successfully Jack Ni🌟💯k😍❤️🌏laus🖐

Most win in majors, most ru, most top 3 ,most top 10? Nicklaus, Nicklaus, Nicklaus, Nicklaus & Nicklaus, Nuff said.
This would be an all time grouping to follow
Jesus that rough was *NASTY*

Every shot…proceeds to skip shot 2 on hole #1. 😂
Again…imagine a 26 year old Nicklaus with modern balls and modern equipment on todays tour…..he would dominate again

Every Shot? hmmm
Tiger will not be doing this at age 60, needless to say.
Because of car accidents. He’d still be winning masters tournaments had he never gotten hurt.
@@georgegc1418bruh its golf. You got old man handicappers playing good golf. That is just an excuse….
Sorry, Tiger is the goat
must be then if you say so
Tiger had all the shots, Jack never did, he didn't need them.
