"Arguably" No, he is the best ever. There is no argument. Just look at the figures.
That was so beautiful
Tiger Woods MIGHT be the better golfer, but he will never match Jack Nicklaus as a sportsman. Nicklaus is one of the greatest sportsmen - read about the concession in the 1969 Ryder Cup if want to know why. I also doubt Woods will now match or better the 18 majors Nicklaus won, and not many people realise that Nicklaus finished 2nd in Majors another 18 times. Woods is not in the same ballpark.Nicklaus finished in the top 6 (mostly the top 3) for 15 consecutive years at the Open Championship.
Finally, someone got it right! Everybody just says Jack is the goat and it ends right there. Nope it doesn’t end right there.
You don’t have a pulse if that doesn’t affect you. Tremendous.
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!
Second greatest ever, but you were very close!
@@chezchezchezchez 18. Remember that number.
@@chezchezchezchez 18, 19 and 7 beats 15, 7 and 6 in my view.
Nicklaus and Watson. Two legends!
The greatest golfer to ever play the game, with all due respect to the other great golfers, including Tiger.
Class acts are for people who hold themselves to a higher standard on and off the course, So you can rule out Tiger Woods
@@jamessveinsson6006 tigers better tho
@@kamalmurphy734 Tiger gave it Hades for 10-12 years. Jack played consistently well for 45 years. Tiger more spectacular with today's juiced ball and futuristic clubs - but do you realize how far Jack drove those OLD balls in the '60's and '70's? The numbers back up the fact that Jack Nicklaus is the best golfer who ever played the game.
@@4orrcountry nah, Tigers better in any era clearly.
Second greatest ever, but you were very close!
Scotland showing class here. Good on you scotts.
ThingsAreLookingUp It's spelt Scots, with a capital 'S'.
who gives a shit?ds1868
ThingsAreLookingUp Since I'm a Scot, I do. Now get lost and learn some manners.
ds1868 Well you take your nationalism too seriously. Lighten up Nancy.
hearts76100 lol, such inferiority complex you scotts have.
what a man, what a career, GOAT, Eldrick is fuming :)
Yeah hes probably really angry banging super models in his mansion trying to figure out ways to spend the billion dollars hes made...poor guy
@@OtakuLogan2017 a send off as the second most Major winner of all time?
@@OtakuLogan2017 awesome to watch no doubt, one of the best never no doubt, moved the needle no doubt, a massive bellend no doubt
What i love about this iconic clip is the commentators let the moment just speak for itself deciding to just SHUT UP. All the best commentators do that.
YES! too many commentators across all sports love the sound of their own voices and feel the need to talk over everything. They did it well here, letting the moment speak for itself and speaking at the right moment
Pure class...not a selfish bone in his body, just a raw competitor that picked up his golf bag and went to work week after week...never a negative thing said about him ever...
beautiful time!!!!!♡♡
I love it!
Golf My Way, the best instruction video ever produced .......
Um......no.
Jim Cheseborough it's not up for debate, so go tippy tappy somewhere else, Gomeril
A glorious moment in the history of golf.
Jack and Tom walking off the green together. Knowing the class gentlemen they both are, and also both driven competitors and achievers on the golf course at the highest level. Golf Royalty.
Not sure how much of a 'gent' Tom was, liked to drink, gamble and shag other peoples wives. Jack on the other hand, class act.
Was a magical moment in the history of Sports
The classiest, greatest golfer all all time. Long live the Bear.
Second greatest ever, but you were very close!
@@chezchezchezchez Possibly Hogan would have won more majors if not for WW2 and missing every british open except one because of a scheduling conflict with the PGA. Tiger beat hacks and stopped winning long before his accident. Plus he was crooked off the tee. He would be third for his hot start against no names.
@@thetruthfornow6045 Nelson was beating Hogan more often than Hogan was beating Nelson before Nelsons retirement though (to be fair to Hogan he improved his game after this so who knows). So thats dependent on Nelsons retirement not taking at least some of the majors he actually did win of Hogan.
There was all kinds of reasons he should have missed that putt but, that’s why he’s the GOAT
I only dabbled at playing golf. A dozen or so pars, and just one solitary birdie, ( which I often replay in my mind ), and then an early retirement, resting on my laurels. I do remember this great day. Watched it on TV and cried like a baby when Mr. Nicklaus made his way to the 18th. What an amazing person, such a true SPORTSMAN. He, together with Tom Watson and Lee Trevino, were my all time favourites. Woods isn't fit to caddy for any of them.
At 05:17, after all the emotion to that point, you can see his amazing mind shift focus to "OK, what's our shot here?"
You can keep your tiger Woods, this man is the goat
Farewell celebration is so emotional to him
That was no easy up and down. That last putt would have gone 5 feet by if he missed. But he is the GOAT and he drained it.
Got to see him in the 1963 Palm Springs Golf Classic Desert Springs was that Indian Wells? Been a long time ago , his playing mates were Gary Player and Arnold Palmer, watched them play 17 and 18 what a memorable life moment, I was only bout 18 years old, WOW!
Watched it live at the time the emotion of Jack Nicklaus standing on the Swilken Bridge and inviting Tom Watson and Luke Donald up as well and making that put for Birdie...Give credit to Luke Donald who i think knew how special it would be for Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson to walk off together arms around each other just like the Dual in the Sun at Turnberry in 1977 Fitting end to a wonderful Career
What a great tribute for a great man and supported by a wonderful family ……next time your in England Jack please come down to my golf club 👍🏻
With all due respect, Jack Nicklaus will live on long after he's gone...
So will tiger. So what’s your point?
@@chezchezchezchez Why are you obsessed with Tiger? It's embarrassing to see you on all these comments like this.
@@TheLunnyBear How can It be embarrassing? You need to learn how to determine if something is embarrassing or not that’s a perception from someone you have no idea how I am perceiving this situation
@@chezchezchezchez You're correct of course. Let me try again. You're making a fool of yourself.
@@chezchezchezchez You're a Tiger nuthugger. Nicklaus was more consistent for longer. Has more major wins, has DOUBLE the top5 finishes in majors compared to Tiger....It's really not even close. Tiger had a great 10-15 year run. He's done.
I had the honour of sitting in the stand that day waiting on the great man to finish. Putt after putt on that line had missed, as soon as he hit it I said he had missed it, but the greatest of all time proved me wrong. My golfing hero since the age of 10, and while some may disagree, by far and away, the best golfer there has been to date.
19 2nd place finishes in the Majors. THREE TIMES AS MANY AS Tiger who has 6 .
Yes, and still waiting to see if anyone can match or beat his record in the majors, I doubt it though, Tiger cant play Augusta every week and I can't see him winning another anywhere else.
Sure but tigers unequivocally #2...and I think hes fine with that
@@johndublyoo9360 its improbable sure, but I'm done betting against tiger, who the hell knows what hes capable of now
@@MrMark945 It wasn’t all that long ago when he said he’d probably be ok never winning another major. In fact, he might even have said he’d be ok never winning another tournament. And it was only maybe what 2-3 years ago when he was saying all he was hoping to do was walk again and go to his his soccer games. It’s a shame really. He was a bright star that probably burned too hot, too fast. Just think what his career could have been without all the injuries. Personally, after missing all the tournaments early this year, especially The Players, I think he might FINALLY be done.
@@MrMark945 In light of his oft publicly stated lifetime goal of winning 18+ majors, I doubt Tiger is okay with how things have turned out for him. Done in by the collective toll taken by too much weightlifting and likely PEDs, like so many others of his generation. It's a shame.
Probably Tom Weiskopf, or Seve Ballesteros, maybe Greg Norman. lol JK none of those guys would dislike Jack even if he did beat them. I'll just pretend it was an idiot that hit the wrong button. That way I won't have to contemplate an a-hole that really does dislike The Golden Bear.
4:10 - If only we knew what he was getting up to back then.
What a man , What a legend !! Not only the best golfer of all time , but also the best ambassador for sport for all time !!! QUITE SIMPLY THE GREATEST !!1
Would anyone have expected any less then him draining that last putt?
+Sean Mcmillan nope, jack made every putt he ever needed too, the 18 majors is one thing, the 19 runner ups, another amazing part of the story.
+Jack Hoffman the 19 2nd place finishes is an amazing statistic. By far the goat!
How many runner ups does tiger have? Or Palmer?
Tiger 6 runner ups, Palmer 5. Second place is 8 with Tom Watson and Greg Norman so 19 is yes, what makes Jack the "goat"
Sean Mcmillan without question he is the goat!
The man had the same pre-shot routine and set-up at address as he did the first time I saw him in 1959; and 44 years later he's still making the most amazing putts of any golfer ever. The greatest ever, Jack Nicklaus!
Incredible legend!! For him, golf was a way to support his family and create his foundation to help others. Real humility and true class!!
at 29 years old today , 17 years later I still remember having watched this moment live in my TV , and rewatch it today I'm getting emotive !!!
Tiger Woods skill wise is the better Golfer. Having been at the 99 PGA Championship at Medinah Country Club when he went up against Sergio "El Nino", and witnessed the overt racism he put up with from some of the Members, and fans, is something no one should ever have to deal with. *** But taking everything into account, JACK NICKLAUS was the GREATEST GOLFER OF ALL TIME. Majors - 18 Wins - 19 Runners up - 46 Top 5 Finishes, and 73 Top 10 Finishes. Enough said. ***
He is for the ages. I read all of his books, and what I mostly learned was not written such as: conducting myself on and off the golf course, being a humble champion and a gentleman in defeat, getting the most my swing for the day and overcoming my own obstacle between my ears.
His 102' putt in '16: ua-cam.com/video/u9KrMQDU94g/v-deo.html
I'd sure like to see Nicklaus play in today's golf.......or these kids play back in his day/time..........what a hoot it would be. Had to add........in a Gentlemans gentleman fashion........
Easy to forget that Luke Donald was in this group, nice of Jack to invite him up for the bridge photographs as well.
YEH & as great as Jack & Tom where.... Luke was a better stricker with iron clubs⛳⛳😬😬⛳⛳
He knocked the hell out of that ball.
