@@mylifebelike5017 Springer. He’ll be about 4 months then. 2 years old now, had a season working, he has a fantastic sit/stop and delivery to hand. Cheers.
@@northlawgundogs5254 lovely, I have a 4 month old Springer boy I’m training for the first time, very clever dogs but at the min I’m struggling with him bringing the dummy to my hand he drops it about 3 foot away from me… I will give this box a try! Thanks for the reply.
Depending on how ‘driven’ he is you could try when he drops it turning and walking away or just stand and play the ‘if you want me to throw it again …, mind games like that might work if the dog is ‘mad for retrieving’. You could also try, all comes down to good timing, stepping forward as he’s coming in and time you taking it from his mouth as he’s about to drop it. If you get it from his mouth before it hits the deck praise him like crazy, progress that until you don’t have to step forward.
Never gave him an inch from day one Wendy, sit/stay was started as soon as I got him home, manners training as much as anything 😂using a pip of the whistle. Now at just gone a year old he’s great on the stop whistle, the same pip I used from day one. If I hold him for any more than a few seconds he knows to park his bum. He’s been a treat so far….but still waiting for the wheels to come off…as everyone says will happen 🙄
Very good training video, my dad used to field trial English setters.

He really is a cracking looking pup. Coming on we’ll
