This was very helpful. We just moved from TX- I am building our home in SC and debating Zip or Tyvek- would love for you to break the pro/con on the two options- especially under Hardie Board
Thanks for the comment! I may go ahead and make a video discussing the different between the two and which you should go with. Take this with a grain of salt but definitely look into the pros and cons of both. Zip may be a more premium product and minimized the installation time but is definitely more expensive. Tyvek is pretty solid and has a great history of weather prevention but may take longer to install. I would get quotes from local contractors in your area and get their opinion based on your specific region and the cost of materials.
That’s a tough one, there are licensed professional asbestos and lead abatement companies that can certainly help. I would try looking for a local company in your area to come take care of it. Are you wanting to rent it or sell?
@ I wanted to live in it. My thought process is to take it to the studs, remove any insulation then redo the whole thing. I think that foam spray will work for me because it’s an older house.
There are actually incredibly well built homes in the DFW, we have some of the best home builders in the country that build here. There are obviously bad eggs everywhere, but I would say that home builders here are overall, awesome.

Zip all day. Tavel is such a cheap product.
Good video. I bought a home that had asbestos walls and lead paint. So I’m looking at what I’ll need to do after remediation.
