For another couple of this tune, try Glen's Smokin' one (stick with it to at least 2:28)
      ua-cam.com/video/GUBhE00h9U0/v-deo.html
, and the Schmutzdorfers (it was them playing, not those you see)
      ua-cam.com/video/dwhGlrZOfFI/v-deo.html
(I now _expect_ the baby at 1:02!).

    • @dunebasher1971

This was 1977. The multi-layering seen here was nothing new at the time, people had been doing it on videotape since VT was invented in the 1950s (and of course on film for a very long time before *that*), but it needed a lot of VTRs available to minimise analogue generation loss, and a lot of careful pre-planning - you couldn't just alter the relationship of the layers on a whim.

This guitar tone is called "woman tone". Eric Clapton pioneered it in the 1960's.
It is achieved by cranking your amp and setting it fairly bright, but turning the tone knobs on a guitar all the way of. It results in a soft almost flute like tone

I found this single in a bargain bin in early 1980 and played it over and over. It sounded like a simple little tune. Only now, seeing this video, do I realise how much went into it. That bargain bin (35p each single) was a godsend for Mike Oldfield fans. I remember Cuckoo Song b/w Pipe Tune, Portsmouth b/s Speak tho' you only say farewell, a single b/w Argiers (might have been In Dulci Jubilo). I can't recall what was on the other side of this single. Anyone remember?
