I am so thankful for this video. At first it did not work. I read many of the comments. One comment stated that this would not work for washers with glass lids. I was about to give up when I read a comment that said the person put the magnet in a different location. I started moving the magnet around and sure enough, it worked. I am leaving to go out of town and my husband is going to starve without me here to cook, but at least he would be clean until the washer stopped working... lol. Now he and the grandson will at least be clean. Thank you so much for this video.
I put the magnet on the left side of the latch. Just keep moving it until it works.
This comment SAVED ME from going insane!! Thank you. I'm glad I scrolled far enough to get here.
Me too I moved it to the left of the lock past the mechanism that inserts to into the deep space where the lock goes and it's doing the rinse and son now thank you ❤
Thank you so very much. God bless you and stay safe.
I put my Kicker L7 and BOOM !!!! Feel the , Feel the ,Fell the Bass ….. Dj Magic Mike would be proud 😎🤙
💯
I was able to use this method. The magnet aloud me to have the lid open when starting washer. Then once it cycled to lid lock I pulled the the lock out myself and it began washing. I had to rest the lid slightly open due to the lock being pulled in advance but it worked. Temp fix of course but hey at least I’ll have clean clothes for work tomorrow:) lol
I had this same problem. I found out why it would not start and just keep beeping when I pressed an option on the washer. Turns out the the internal magnet (1:24) in the washer door wasnt connecting to the lid lock on the actual washer (where the door closes) because there was a lot dust/dirt on the surface of where the internal magnet (1:24) and lid lock connects. So all you have to do is clean that dirt out where the internal magnet (1:24) and lid lock connect.
I did the pull the tongue thing out just enough to get the lid locked, ran a cycle, Now it won't come "un-locked" lol....Have the part on order and the old one is dis-assembled and ready to be replaced. This was a helpful video as well as other comments.
Np I appreciate your comment
@@BayouRepairGuy Next up.....replacing the grill carryovers and burners....it's always something!
@@alicedagoon4798 💯
Did it just run one load or could you keep running? Bc I’ll break mine to get my loads done but won’t be able to replace until next week when parts available. 😂
But I have 5 loads-7person household and I only wash once a week.
Good to know there's a way around it. Thanks.
You bet
Lid lock fault;
I unplugged my kenmore 600 series for 4 days. That worked a year ago and it worked again.
I tried many different powerful magnets none did anything.
hello all is there a way to bypass the lock all together?
Right at the end of the video you could hear the latch cycling through trying to lock I assume then you cut off the video which that is the exact same thing my is doing just before it shuts down every single time which I am going to assume that is what yours did since you stopped the video before we could see that it actually worked!
Mine starts spazzing out there flashing f5 e2 and beeping, is that what yours did? I have to unplug washer to get it to stop spazzing

Worked for me. Let me use my washer until I could replace the latch
Thank you for the supportive comment
The recommended override didn't work for me and upon watching video again realize it didn't work during video demonstration either. Tub rotates slightly then system promptly shuts down. I tried it several times with same results. Video demonstration deceptive....

It almost works for me. But then a tab comes out of the washer that seemingly is supposed to hook onto the lid to lock it. It clicks a few times while the tab moves back and forth, and then it doesn't work. I tried holding the tab open at various distances to simulate it hooking onto the lid, but it didn't work.
No need to bypass, just put the tip of your finger in the hole where the retractable tongue resides and pull the tongue out. Work the tongue in and out about 20-25 times quickly, feeling mild friction as it moves. This cleans off some of the internal corrosion and the lid lock will function normally for about 20-30 more loads before it fails again. I’ve been doing this for about 4 months now and have performed this temporary fix about every 3-4 weeks. I have a new harness in my office, but I really don’t want to take the top off the washer to fix it. I will fix it the proper way when this temporary fix no longer works.
I did that and it works now!!!!

U are a freaking life saver
That worked for me too! Thanks Joseph C !
That only worked for me for a short time. Now it’s not working at all.
Hi, I having the same problem with my lid lock, my models Kenmore # 110.2613*410, 110.2713*410 I couldn't find the matching part, is my models too old? thanks!
I want the door to open freely without that annoying lid lock, lol. I can't open it to add an item, etc. I guess it's for kids, but it sure is annoying!
💯
Farkin genius
Great video, by watching now I know the problem on the machine isn't this but that the little plastic tab is actually broken off and when we try to wash a load the display reads 'e2, f5'. How can I fix it? Thanks in advance
same omg how do i fix?!
I'm having this problem too. Hoping I don't have to but the 150$ lid lock
Sorry, if I don't follow but at 2:40 you show the magnet on top of the latch point. So, now you don't have to close the lid to start the machine ? Also, if you leave the lid open will water splash out during the wash and spin cycles ? Thanks :)
This allows you to keep the lid open while it is running
I tried this on my Maytag but I used a smaller magnet and everything was fine until the lid lock popped out and it made like a little clicking noise and then it said the cycle failed what did I do wrong
@@fixittrey9913 I would try a stronger magnet
@@BayouRepairGuy where did you get this particular magnet
@@fixittrey9913 it’s from a magnetron from a microwave. Go to my about page and get my email and send me your address and I’ll mail you one
help please i’m going to get in so much trouble for breaking our washer. i’m the only one doing laundry and i think the hook broke code e2 f5

Also had me till I heard the clicking sound at the end which in meaning that’s not the fix, but good looking on the part numbers
we have the same washer like the exact same one! i bought the part but do u have a video on how to install it? ive used all the methods now where it does not work anymore
There’s no I don’t try to be helpful. I just try to get views.
@JonesNursery I figured it out. It's almost identical to removing the top of a dryer. Held by clips and 2 screws thanks again and great video!
Thanks
I made a mistake I removed the lid on top of the door thinking I can bypass it now I've lost the lid my machine isn't sensing any more. Will the magnet thing will help????
Yes I hope
I have a kenmore that the lid lock light is flashing. The machine fills up but run through the cycle. Any advice???
Cam, motor or actuator
Those are the first things to check
Well I unplugged it for about 5 minutes, give or take, and while it was unplugged I flipped the little latch on the lid where it closes and meets on the top front of the machine. I plugged it in and everything works fine. I don’t know if it reset itself somehow or if the little latch on the door was somehow flipped and when I was messing with it, it went back to the correct position. Have no clue but it works now!!! Thank goodness! Thanks for your time!!!
Did you have to clear the codes for it to work?
I literally just made Clickbait videos. I don’t know if this shit works or not.
I’m getting a F5 code, any advice?
Lid lock shorted so change out the lid lock
i did learn a little it. my switch has failed and i want to disable it so this was not the video for me. it was however the first video i found with the correct lid lock mechanism. and for that i thank you
What type of magnet should I get?

@@djtakinitback9717what did you use to clean it out? I’ve tried to no avail
That clicking noise means it isn't working 😂
Please go to the Agitator test video and you can plainly see the lid is up with the magnet in there as a bypass
My light blinks but isnor and will not lock
Didn’t work for me, does the magnet have to be a certain strength or something
Needs to be super strong
jason bourne of washing machines
It doesn’t work lol after the sound it makes it turns off.

Didn't see the machine work...
There’s another video on this machine working with the lid up
@@BayouRepairGuy okay thanks cuz I am in this same position my damn lid lock won't engage
God damnit these new mechines are terrible compared to the old ones...
It's like the tech made it worse
This didn't work for me
If the lock is already bad this will not work. The lock mechanism must be in working order
Didn’t work on mine
Sorry my friend
@@BayouRepairGuy no biggie. Just ordered replacement part 🙂
NOT !!
