And for those of us in New York, both the Giants and Jets making the playoffs for the first time in recent memory. Giants even won a game before falling to these Niners.
Thank you!! I have no idea why this game is so hard to find online! It was one of the first Super Bowls I remember watching as a kid, even though I was a Giants fan. Beginning of the 49ers dynasty.
Thank you so much for posting this. It made my day. It brings back alot of memories for me. I have alot of bad days with my health and mental state as I'm a 90% service connected disabled combat veteran who suffers daily.😢 Thank you very much
Wow! That was very exciting and awesome to finally see the complete first half and not just the highlights of SB 16! Thank you for uploading. Very impressive 49ers! Not bad for their first ever Superbowl. They look like veterans who have been here before. Indomitable performance! This was quite a treat to see for the first time. Too bad they let the Bengals get back in it in the second half. Hopefully someday someone will upload that as well. I was one when this was live.
My dad was at this game, him and my uncle. I was 5 years old, and it was a 12 hour drive for them to get out there so no go for me. Cool to see it now though, thanks for the upload 👍
Yes I'm from Pontiac, I was about 10 during this game, I read an article about it, and the weather made it absolute hell to even get to Pontiac! I had no idea, I remember it being colder than Antarctica 😂 and schools were still open!
I was on the delayed entry program with the US Navy when I watched this Super Bowl...i was 19 years old at the time...i was hoping Dallas would play San Diego in Pontiac mi. Lol....but nonetheless I was rooting for the Bengals
I don't think SB15 is allowed either. You know, I have never been able to see any of it other than the first quarter and the NFL Films highlights, of course. I was on bivouac on Ft. Dix getting us ready to fight the Soviets in Western Europe, and they brought out one of those huge television/projector things for us to watch the game. It was below zero that night because the ground was frozen solid. They came around with a ten lbs sledge to pound the shelter half stakes in. We had house to house fighting and grenades earlier that day and I was freezing sitting on those logs and on top of that I had guard at 12am, so I missed out...
The first, and only, Super Bowl in the town in which I was born. The Silverdome was a loud place, and (IMO) much nicer than the Hefty Dome over in the twin cities, lol. It was a shame to see it left to rot like it was over the years.
@@davesingleton2206 oh wow. I was able to watch it. It’s been doing funny things on UA-cam tv lately. Check again tomorrow. Might be there. It’s also listed under Events in your library.
No, but by the end of 1982, and after the first FULL year of "Reganeering" had the opportunity to leave U.S. for gainful employment, I would've immigrated and or defected in a New York minute.
1:07:16 Absolutely asinine play by Griffin (#45) here. After he failed to field the ball cleanly initially, since there were only seconds left in the 1st half, he needed to simply fall on the ball. Instead, he tries again to scoop it up (while glancing upfield) and predictably fails again to secure the ball. A comedy of errors for Cincinnati in this game.
footage missing around the 44 -45 minute mark ....how did the bengals get from 49ers 46 to the 28 yard line ? ...and even after that footage is missing....bengals turnover then...and then....somebody is messing it up.
Great game! Joe was one of my favorite players growing up, even though i was born 2 years after this game. Why skip the commercials? Would love seeing some of those old commercials for a good laugh.
The 1981 playoffs were incredible:
The Catch
The Freezer Bowl
Chargers/Dolphins!!!

These were two extremely evenly matched teams. The edge went to SF for coaching, quarterback and secondary.

Listen to that crowd...football may never be this good again
That 49ers secondary was sick!!!!
Bill Ring and I had the same counselor at Carlmont High in Belmont, California.
Wow, just incredible.
The greatest goal line stand in the history of the NFL

Talk about a seriously different time in America 🥺🇺🇸👍🏽and this is Way back when our NINERS knew how to win Super Bowls 😎👍🏽…….?! 😒😔🤦🏻♂️

The 49er defense was impenetrable inside the 5 on two occasions.
How insane is this I was living in N. Cali and from 1980 to about 85, Raiders, 49ers, Redskins, Raiders and 49ers were the SB winners. Crazy.
What the Rams and Vikings could never do in the 70s the 49ers did on their first try.
This is the first Superbowl I ever watched on TV.42 years ago January 24, 1982
This remains the highest rated by market share Super Bowl
Thank you for uploading and sharing!
Finally!!!
Love you madly
Always liked the Pontiac Silverdome. It had that gargantuan big fight feel to it. Ford Field...I don't know just doesn't have the same ambiance

Finally got this one the first of five for the 49ers
Too bad there’s no complete second half. Overall this turned out to be a pretty good game and quite significant for the rest of the 1980’s.

Anyone have a link to the second half . It’s the only Super Bowl on UA-cam that doesn’t have the full game

The other Keiths are Keith Whitley and Keith Urban!
OMG Chris Collingsworth played 2 Super Bowls for the Bengals I had forgot

For anyone looking for the second half, NFL network is showing the full game today at 3PM CST. Good luck!
I saw that and added it to my "library" on UA-camTV and ended up getting absolutely nothing and I am NOT happy about it.

I don’t know the timestamps of touchdowns.

Bengals need no black jersey in a Superbowl. The white tiger will be in Louisiana in 2025
Around the 5 minute mark is that a who dey chant?
SO weird seeing coaches white on boards....today, well.
Tom Dinkel the inspiration for Ray Finkel?
No the inspiration for Ray Finkel was former Buffalo kicker Scott Norwood
