    Great comparison. I have the Storm Star and it’s awesome! Used it on 2 Tahr hunts so far and again this November. The last hunt we were caught in a storm on the side of a mountain for 3 days. 2 of us lived comfortably inside.

      Yeah man they are pretty cool eh, I think both the mtn and storm star have both been upgraded since this video.

    For UK mountain wild camping in the winter and those long nights, I'm leaving my Fjallraven Abisko lite 1 (great one person tent, never let me down, but very flappy in wind. Not much space at all), so going for the Kuiu Storm Star at £550 full kit (tent, ground sheet and head shelf) next month. Thankyou for sharing! Liked and Subscribed

    I have a stone Glacier 2P Skyscraper and have been thinking about swapping it out next year for the KUIU Storm Star 2P. It seems to be a bit more durable at the same weight.

      I guess it depends in what conditions you will be using it mostly

    Usefully video. You can just pitch the fly and footprint on the Storm Star, that would make it quite a bit lighter wouldn’t it?

    Not sure if anyone has mentioned in other comments, but the Kuiu Pack Accessory Pouch or the Large Zip Dry Bag hold the Summit Star perfectly!

    Jesus stripey that was windy 😂
    The tent looked fine even under the pressure.

    Thanks for the great comparison ! Hw does the Mountain Star handle your dogs paws ? I am looking for a lighter tent than mine, but my 2 dogs are usually in the tent as well and I am always a bit concerned about the floors (as I lost some mats and returned to good old Evazote)

      She hasn’t been inside the mountain star, normally sleeps in the vestibule, but has been on the floor of the summit star a few times and hasn’t been a problem yet, I normally put a jacket or my gaiters down for her to sleep on though

      Which model are you running? Any comments on it? Asking as I'm considering the Enan and the Anjan 3 GT. Located down south. Thanks

      @@feebsnz hey mate, yeah I’m running the Jannu 2, absolutely bomb proof for what we get in NZ, it’s quite weighty though, so I really only find myself using it for fly/drive in trips, but it’s a proper 4 season rig. A mate has the Enan, and totally rates it. Quite costly but their construction and design is second to none in my opinion.
      Cheers
      Tom.

      @@SouthernAlpsHunter Thanks for that Tom. I bet the Jannu is bomb proof. I'm only really considering the yellow label tents for packability. Does your mate with the Enan hunt with a dog? Reckon a medium sized dog, a pack & rifle would fit in the awning area? It's hard to gauge online. Cheers

    Nice camp ground, what facilities do you have, I can’t find it when I google “Taranaki campgrounds” can I bring my dog & do you have wheelchair access if I can’t be bothered walking? Do you also have wheelchairs?

    • @nathanhays6580
      @nathanhays6580 9 місяців тому

      I like my insert and always use it. Keeps the little blood suckers out, and I like that extra ground barrier the bathtub floor gives you. I don't ever carry a footprint. I've lived out of it for 8 days on my last elk hunt with no issues. The mesh also helps the condensate not drip all over my down bag. It has also never leaked, and mine has seen some nasty storms on the mountain. I also own a storm star and lug it up the mountain when needed.

    The idea that ANYONE sells a “tent” with the floor not attached to the walls boggles my mind. Why not just buy a tarp and fold it into a tent?

    • @Beardandgun
      @Beardandgun  Рік тому +3

      Maybe chuck them a message and ask. I’d personally never be able to pitch a tarp as well, I was always shit at folding sheets
