Another great lesson Tomlin! I agree with all your points in this lesson and appreciate all you've done to contribute to the quality of my playing and enjoyment of the harmonica!
Thanks, Tomlin, I appreciate your argument for incorporating the lower notes (including the -2") into my blues playing. Interesting observation about experienced blues players switching to the major pentatonic above the 6. I'll have to give that a try.
This lesson should be required viewing for all aspiring harmonica players. This video really opened my eyes and will (henceforth) change the way I practice scales. Thanks so much!
Lovely lesson as always...i hv jus started out ..after playing blues guitar for over 20 years 😜! But really enjoying this new muse....thanks to your lessons n videos 🤘🙏
GREAT LESSON!!! I'm sure you've even convinced that recalcitrant and lazy student who needed to be shown that the 2 draw full step bend was worthwhile, albeit difficult to master. :)
I’m a newbie to the harmonica but thanks to your excellent teaching Im making progress. Tomlin, do you know of an app for iPhone that would provide beginner song tabs for me to practice? Thanks for all your lessons!
HI Mike - I'm afraid I don't. I can provide you with Beginner Songs for you to practice here though - tomlinharmonicaschool.com/p/easy-tunes-for-beginners
Hi James, great question. You can play both of these scales over a Major key Blues. Over a Minor key you can only use the Blues Scale or Minor Pentatonic :-)

Aw thanks Sage - that's wornderful to hear :-)
Major P on holes 6-9 was a true epiphany 👍 Thanks a lot for yet another great lesson!

Before I even see the video I can tell you gals and gents this is one of the best hints you can get when learning the 10 hole harp! Cheers Tomlin
Very helpful Thanks so much for the video !
Have a happy day ! 🐞🐞🐞🐞
Thank you Sunny and you!

Excellent lesson- thanks!! Doc
Thanks Doc!
Dzięki Tomlin, to jest to o co mi chodziło. Bardzo dobra i praktyczna lekcja.
Thanks Tomlin, that's what I meant. A very good and practical lesson.
Very good lesson thanks for covering this
My pleasure Carey :-)
Great video!
Cheers William :-)
Great lesson! Thank you! :)
I love the major pentatonic/folk scale! Cheers for the lesson, Tomlin.
Have a listen to Indiana by Gary Primich for a great tune using major pent. 😎👍
Definitely, thanks for the suggestion! :-)
A revelation, thanks!
i needed this lesson so hard
thank you
Learning blues scale in higher octave is difficult, but great. You can play really nice vibrato on 6 overblow and 7 overdraw.
GREAT LESSON!!! I'm sure you've even convinced that recalcitrant and lazy student who needed to be shown that the 2 draw full step bend was worthwhile, albeit difficult to master. :)
Lol - thanks Bob :-)

Sweet sound!
Tomlin, You made this scale easy for me to understand & practice! And for that, I thank you. Do what you do. I'm a fan 🤙
Aww, that's kind for you to say. Thank you Pat! :-)

Hi, I wasn't sure how the blues and major pent linked up, or were they for separate keys?
Hi James, great question. You can play both of these scales over a Major key Blues. Over a Minor key you can only use the Blues Scale or Minor Pentatonic :-)
That make my vision wide. Hard to find better blue scale teaching comparing this one.
If you leave out that overdraw then the minor pentatonic scale is available using that 6 overblow you love.
Awesome
I really struggle getting a good sound from holes 1 and 2 I don't know if it's me or my harmonica as I'm a beginner, any advice please?
bigseanSM, the 2 hole is difficult for most beginners, me included. It’s a known problem. Watch videos and keep at it, you’ll get there
@@eddyengland5398 cheers mate 😎
Hi Sean, like Eddy said, the 2 draw is tough. This will hopefully help you - ua-cam.com/video/QTzyM-mq7Qc/v-deo.html
I found the diatonic (not the tremolo) a more challenging instrument among the harmonica.
Why the bend in the hole 3 is not the same sound like you ??
Pourquoi le bend dans le trou 3 a pas le même son que vous ??
Best regards
You can bend the 3 hole 3 separate semitones down. In this video he only did 1 semitone. I'm thinking you are bending 2 or even 3

Solid idea Gareth ;-)
I can’t follow a thing you say.....even from the beginners videos....sorry mate 🤷♂️
Hi Craig, I'm so sorry to hear that. What are you working on at the moment?
Go away then.
