    Astonishing how there is not 1 dedicated dark ride between Dreamworks land and How to Train Your Dragon over at Epic. It’s as if Uni doesn’t have complete faith in these characters as they do with minions

    Terrible review. That doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong; rather, it's simply a disorganized rant, not a thoughtful, well-organized critique. Also, it's self- contradictory. The land is "trash" but also "a welcome addition to the park"?

    The turtle talk with po is very awkward and weird looking. He just stands there and his arms glitch out. They shouldve done like disney and had pre made animations that can be triggered by the performer so the character doesnt look so awkward and glitchy

    The flat and cheap looking entry sign speaks volumes about how much money and effort was put into this. It looks like something from Seaworld.

    How to Train Your Dragon land should of been DreamWorks land im sorry. Maybe HTTYD will work for now but HTTYD isn't like minions. Plus you would of had so much variety out of a DreamWorks land. Disappointing.

    I am usually in agreement with your reviews but not this one. First off, this land isn't open for full review it's in technical rehearsal per the sign, not all characters are there. The water park isn't open because it's not JUNE 14th. How about letting it open before you start freaking bashing the work behind the project and something designed for little kids. We have our rides and entertainment, this isn't for us adults.

    Watching your walkthrough yesterday showed how completely underwhelming this area is. I was going to reserve judgment till I saw it in person, but now you’ve confirmed my suspicions. Now, I’m curious if this will be entertaining enough for kids to enjoy.

    LOL. I've only ever seen Annie be super sweet (especially when sitting directly next to Tom) so the intro actually made me cackle. I left DWA right when it was acquired by Universal, but this land definitely doesn't do the brand justice (see DreamWorks Motiongate). At USH we have the DreamWorks theater which at least looks polished and uncanily similar to the actual Glendale campus. Couldn't agree more on the cardboard cutouts: the entry sign, Trolls area, etc. while there are some actual sculpts, it's not even consistent, it all should have been 3D/animatronic. Also odd the construction walls had more characters, although obscure, and the end result of the "land" is just 3 IP. Looking forward to Dragons at Epic I guess, but the 'permanent' home for Shrek, et al. we'll never get actual high quality rides/attractions for these at Universal?

    @LChatmanFL 4 місяці тому +6

    Sooo... As mentioned in another chat, this area is meant for the littlest kids, not the ones running around Camp Jurassic. Compare this to Duplo land at Legoland and Sesame Street over at SeaWorld... very similar. You have these really basic rides and experiences that are really just chill spaces for parents.
    With that said, Universal could have done better. And I say this as a big Universal fan. Especially given all the greatness we're seeing in development in Texas and at EU.
    At Busch gardens Tampa they have several little spinner and flat rides along with the Elmo coaster. There's also a bounce zone, tree bridges etc.
    I knew that signage was bad foreshadowing...

    • @keouine
      @keouine 4 місяці тому +1

      If it's meant for the littlest kids, why are the Dreamworks characters the focus? Their dialogue and humor is not for the littlest paying guests . over 3.

    • @LChatmanFL
      @LChatmanFL 4 місяці тому

      @@keouine I can't argue with that. All I have is they probably needed IPs with a little name recognition. Plus the rumor is they are building an ecosystem little ones can grow up in and eventually transition to the bigger rides.
      I think they had to bring Shrek back because too many adults were basically demanding it.
      Also, the fact Gabby's dollhouse made into the land, seemingly out of nowhere, tells you they targeted the little ones.
      I hope they do add plenty of shade and seating because if you have ever done the boneyard over at Animal Kingdom you know how difficult it is to find a seat and shade. It's like game of thrones for the parents looking for seating hahaha lol!!

  • @councilofkarens729

    I know there isn't a lot to do there, but isn't it just a cool-down area for tiny kids and their parents? There is plenty to do in other areas of the park.

    • @LChatmanFL

      I think you're right. This are is for the littlest of kids.

  • @TJ-ed3kr
    @TJ-ed3kr 4 місяці тому +3

    2 things,
    I totally recognized that there was TONS of room to add more shade from the very first renderings even. From a horticulture perspective, as a former gardener for Universal, Shrek area should be “swamped” with trees and lushness. Especially with all the little ones that are so susceptible to the heat.
    2nd: I truly thought we would get an actual, legit, theme park worthy sign for the front of the land…but then I saw the rest of the Microsoft Word printed signs for all the attractions and now realize, they have no intention of making them quality. I’ve seen better signage and creativity at Six Flags.
    Now’s not the time for Universal to slack, on ANYTHING…especially when everyone’s rooting for them to do better than the mouse. Makes me nervous for Epic…

    The land is trash. Looks like a gd carnival. Big movie studio makes cheap park. Absolutely disappointing.

  • @jimmythetrumpster3976

    We are expected more, but you have to remember that most of the $$$ is going to Epic Universe. The Trees will grow to make shade, and Universal might add some tables and umbrellas. A darkride in the future would be nice.

    Maybe it is the worst kid's land that universal team ever made! Look at Beijing , Osaka and Singapore, they get full-themed family-oriented areas with many cute rides. This DreamWorks Land just feels like a playground in a normal park. Of course kids would not care about the decoration or rides things but i wish the team can do better.

    I predicted that the two things that theme park people would complain about were lack of shade and over reliance of screens. You proved me right! That said, did you see kids having fun? This will truly determine if this was a win or fail

    Maybe since Universal is belt-tightening, they can repurpose Twirl n. Hurl when/if they abandon the Simpson's. It's sad but kiddie lands from the 1880s had more rides. It is not even a joke to point out that 2 rides would double what DreamWorkLand offers. And troller coaster is rougher than I thought it would be. It rumbled and felt old. Needed padding.

    If you take out the Panda screen, you have a barn shed for mowers, trailers, and farm equipment. That's what it reminded me of. They charge about $160 once taxes etc. for a 3 yr old.1 day 1 park. What is there to do for a young kid who is too short to ride even Sky High Trolley and other rides? One tries to smile and be glad for something new, but it is a let-down. The rotating seats on the left side of Panda are kind of hard to push. They don't even have handles. Add some WD-40. I was shocked they replaced all that ball room with hard floor and a screen. I swear that's all it is. Uni acts as if no one has huge screens with amazing games at home already or at least at a friend's home. Why do Asian parks get such great attractions? Because they revolt? because they protest, scream? stay home? idk. but U.S. visitors need to show their displeasure. We are too accommodating. Go to Peppa Pig down the road.
