I wrote an entire comment guessing what was going to be the worst car and justifying why it wasn't the 2019 Williams, not realising that 2019 is not part of the 2020's.
I definitely agree that the W15 was better, but I wonder if it's due in part to some of the results from the W13. If I remember correctly, Mercedes finished 3rd in the Constructors with the W13 whereas the W15 finished 4th. Some people like to just look at Constructors results, and when it was actually working properly, the W13 car was actually pretty quick. Especially towards the end of the season, but the W15 was still better because the field was pretty mighty in that top contender early midfield position. It might have been more inconsistent, but four race wins easily beats one. I do think though that the W13 should have gotten a few more victories had things gone their way, but that's how I look at it.
Consistency is the key points here, at it’s wrost the W13 was still the third fastest, it was 3rd fastest in almost every race. Meanwhile the W15 was like 5th or even 6th fastest at its wrost. Consistency is key

Tbh, surprised you put the 2020 merc above the 2023 Red Bull. The merc was amazing on one lap but had clear problems keeping tyres alive across a race.
@ how is it not a part of the criteria? It just says “the best car” and race pace and reliability would probably be the two main factors there, both areas the RB19 dominated.
@@sebastianahrens2385 fair enough, I forgot about that criteria. Very strange that he doesn’t seem to have race pace or how well it lasts on tires. That’s a pretty big point of the “best car”.
@ He's secretly paid by Mercedes! Jokes aside, I have no idea. Maybe race pace is somewhat hard to definitively research or quantify. I'd know where to look up fastest laps, but I'm not sure whether full race timings are available that easily. And even if, they're probably a nightmare to comb through.
A car that was 1 bad day away of winning all races in a season should be number 1, I don't think we should overcomplicate things when wins, poles and standings are more than enough to rank these cars. Was the W11 better in qualifying? Sure. But I'd argue that the W11 had weaker competition that year than the RB18 had in 2023. But as always, amazing work Peter.

I am here to comment on yet another Peter Brook video for algorithm help and because your videos are actually satisfying to watch and you’re underrated!
Great video Peter, but I think I would still rank the RB18 ahead of the RB16B and W12, as it was untouchable for a big portion of the season, especially in race pace. You probably ranked it lower because of qualifying pace, but I would still give it the edge
The 2024 McLaren after Miami was actually superbly awesome in tire management. If Lando or Piastri gained the lead, they'll drag it all the way to the end and on tires that the other teams would not really wanna use anymore but everytime McLaren came out on top. Their car's tire management was soo good when they're in the lead that it gave Max an actual headache to catch them as in clean air conditions, the McLaren was excellent in tire preservation whereas the RBR would struggle to keep pace with its tires trying to catch the running McLaren. The problem that Lando didn't snatch the title away from Max was that the team did make quite abit of kerfuffling with some questionable calls and Lando's personal fumbles at race starts that cost himself dearly by not clinching the WDC. Otherwise, the car was great.
Tires were an major issue in a few races for the McLaren, Monza, Immola (before the setup changes that took the car right to the front ofc), the RB20 falling off after Hungary but still being the the quickest car in terms of dry lap pace (averaged across the season) does not help the way people see that car. The McLaren was great and worked really well in the conditions and tracks that it suited, but it wasn't a flawless car and tires were an issue costing them probably 2 wins (Monza, Immola) Brazil is another race where Lando pitted very early for new tires (earlier than the Redbull ofc) and that cost him track position.
Yea, that 2020 Mercedes ripped so hard. And you cant even be mad at them, goven how much work went into upgrading and iterating on an already extremely good car
I have such fond memories of Lando’s pole in Sochi, but it was the same day I got to first see the Wallace And Gromit bench in Preston, and I told my partner I’m non binary and all he asked was if I wanted another beer. I love him.

I think AT02 is underrated there, the car was really fast, and a lot of people expected them to finish 5th in cc. It's just the bad start for Yuki, that costed them a points. At least, putting sf1000 ahead is insane
Completely agree this time, especially with your #1 decision. I think the Red Bull 23 was pushed much closer than the Mercedes was and they should have capitalised more on it
The argument for the 2020 Merc and the 2023 Red Bull is very interesting because I think both could be considered the best by what you value. I personally give the Merc a very slight edge just cause of how good both driver were all season.

My favorite F1 car of the 2020s: Ferrari, 2024. My driver, Carlos won 2 races in it, so its a big sweetspot in my hearth. Also, Bearmans debut, and the first real competitive car since 2010

Perez was just shit, that’s why he didn’t win more races in it. Second, the RB18 was better than the W12, even though it had a bit of unreliability at the start it proved to be very dominant eventually. I would also argue the SF-23 was better than the SF21 because it got a win, but the SF21 was more consistent so it’s debatable.
@@stibblr nothing will ever beat the RB19’s dominance. I don’t take raw top speed as the number one factor for judging car greatness. The W11 was a fantastic car and probably top 10 of all time, but the RB19 is something no one will ever match again.
