My go to is Marvel Champions - mainly because how well it plays solo. I have everything up to this point, and likely will continue buying it all unless its a character i really don’t care about.

I have Marvel Champions and United. I would argue United rivals Champions in terms of theme (or should I say immersion). Due to there being locations. And it making you feel like you're hitting things. I think the mini's help with this. I know there's lots more depth and flavor and art and references in Champions. Of course, we can reduce any game to a math puzzle and I know this is not a fair argument but this has been my experience: In Champions I'm more busy figuring out the math than noticing what I'm actually doing thematically. When I picked up United it was the first time I actually felt like I was beating up thugs as one of the heroes.
I own United and Legendary and have tried Champions once on TTS. My favourite is Legendary for how tailorable it is. You can really make it a lot easier or harder depending on which heroes you take against the villain. Also, I only own the base games, so I'm judging solely on that. United is good for getting non-gamers into it.

exactly that for United. legendary definitely is the most customizable without all the significant effort of deck construction
Great topic. I’ve played heroclix, United, legendary, Champions, dice masters, vs system and at some point loved them all. Heroclix is what brought me to modern board games and I loved it but they just keep repeating the characters over and over again. Dice masters is a fun game but like any tcg it’s rat race to get get the rares and ultra rares if you want to play competitively. Fun game if you want to play casual however. Legendary is a fun game but doesn’t do anything special but if you nailed it as far your comments. Broad with some nuggets hidden it. Champions is the worst version of Arkham/Lotr. There is zero theme to this game and they are just using a combo of Lotr/Arkham with the cards as resources as a game. United was a game I thought I’d hate but for the quickness for what it is I love it. Having a 3 yr time is key to me and I can get a game or two of United in while the kiddo is taking a bath.
The mention of Heroclix brought back so much nostalgia. Not sure if it even exists but it was so much fun to play on a Friday night with buddies from uni.

I came across your videos recently, and I really like your presentation. Personally my favourite Marvel IP boardgame is Champions. Through its LCG framework and the hero-specific cards it can go more in-depth than any of the other games. For Legendary I prefer the, in my opinion, more thematic Legendary Encounters Alien implementation of the system.
Marvel Champions is just so much fun! I love being able to go against all the different villains with different heroes and have to use completely different tactics. Legendary is also really enjoyable! With so many schemes and masterminds available, no game feels the same even though it’s just a deck-builder. Love it! United has been my least favorite of the three. I’ve only played the core and maybe if I played some expansions, I’d like it more. However, the previous two games were great with just the core.

yeah United benefits most from the variety. also a younger age which is why it has thrived in my house. at least until they get older!
I agree with you totally. I haven't played Champions or United but I have played Legendary. I own several of the Legendary Encounters. I've seen many reviews of all of them and I have subspected what difficulty they were, but your pros and cons as well as your final thoughts made it clear. I myself have Champions on my wishlist and it's because of the deck construction. Kudos for a excellent video!
I think it comes down to what kind of game you want to play. For me Legendary is a straight forward deck builder, since that it what I want the choice is clear. Champions looks like a fun card game, but since I don't want to get into deck construction and I'm not interested in buying lots of expansions. So I think it would get stale.
I love Marvel United, but the extra bulk of Kickstarter-fueled minis is intimidating to the casual crowd this game is designed for. I think it would be even more playable with standees.

I've played all three and found Marvel United to be the best. I tried to like Marvel Champions but I just found it so dry and just preferred other deckbuilders compared to Legendary.
i think you missed Marvel Splendor and currently also Marvel Remix might be an option to start with - so with the time goes on more options are available to start with.... but i would disagree between Legendary has less depth then Champions, because Legendary becomes way more challenging with the expensions and Masterminds that it is nearly or at least the same level with tactics like champions and not so puzzle*ish but more combo*ish ;)
For me, it's Marvel United. Fun, quick, easy set up and breakdown. Marvel Champions is almost like LOTR the card game that I am still collecting and trying to obtain all the cards. Didn't need another game like it. Have not tried Legendary.

Chris, just got Marvel United delivered to play with my kids from the good old USA. I got the core and the Spider verse boxes in a bundled set for 30 US. My boy undoubtedly will love it, but I have to ask, how "too much" is 250 Euro for the stretch goal box? I will bite the bullet if YOU sir, recommend XD... I dont have any thoughts to get any of the other expansions and would have liked to pick-up the XMen sets, but as my kids are not familiar with it, I sadly have to give it a pass... We already deeply invested in Marvel Zombies, but they are a bit young and will still be once released.

@ yeah my wife slapped me to my senses and we found a MU X-men mutant pledge for 150 euro. So now to teach the kids about X-men 😁. BTW we have 15 games in 3 days... Exhausted
I’ve only tried marvel legendary and I would definitely recommend it however I have 2 main issues that’s the setting up and setting down can be a bit tedious and as you said out of print expansions can be a real pain if you really want certain heroes e.g I’m from the UK and I can’t get my hands on the secret wars or civil war sets so I’m missing out on massive a-list avengers heroes like dr strange, black panther, captain marvel, vision, Peter Parker so on so on
I can't wait for messiah complex. I'm always down for more X-Men content! Annihilation is in my possession. Haven't played it yet. I was very excited when they first announced it. Honestly, it lost some steam after the delay and almost zero sign as to when it would be released. I forgot that I pre-ordered it until it arrived in the mail 🤣🤣🤣

Marvel Champions is so good. One of our favourite Co-ops. Legendary we got rid of fairly quickly, and United was a bit too basic / easy.

I've tried champions but can't get into it. Legendary is my addiction! I own every expansion. Was looking at getting into United.
