+Jim Sterling WE MUST JUDGE YOUR ERRORS HARSHLY AS YOU SO JUDGE GAMES SO SAYETH THE LORD...OF...UA-cam. Bob Dole. But yeah the 'brontosaurus' is most likely from the brachiosaurid family (They're characterized by how they centre themselves ie posturing, not all members of the family possess the 'crest'). Also; if you were going to say diplodocus that's a dinosaur that's known for being long as opposed to standing tall. THE MORE YOU KNOOOOW.
Okay, I actually think the game dev. for this one might be Digital Homicide, renamed. Check out the wording in the description of this game: "Dinosaur Hunt: Africa Contract is an intense action shooter that will take you on an epic journey of hunting the world’s most horrifying animals! But let's be CLEAR, this is NOT some high-budget, flashy, top-notch, sterling, tip-top, A1, top-drawer, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, top-hole quality production. It doesn't even pretend to be one - screenshots and trailer are exactly like the game looks like. So if you like what you see, you can expect no surprises. BUT If you are looking for AAA quality, ace & crack, top-grade Dinosaur Survival MultiPlayer Open World Game, with millions of details, whatever, there are better positions out there, so please move on - DO NOT BUY IT. BUT If you like Dinosaurs, Zombies, shooting, explosions, bullets, slow motion, bullet follow and all the things that will make you LAUGH - GREAT - you are going to have fun with this one." So...it's the only game listed by this dev (which is a Digital Homicide trick - change the name, release a game), it's made with asset packs (one of which we know they own already - the zombie one), it's "on sale" (another trick they do for shite games they just want to sell enough of to make quick money), and the description over emphasizes the fact that it's NOT a high-budget, AAA game - and they used the word "sterling" to describe what it ISN'T. Who uses the word sterling these days? It seems like Digital Homicide, nay, "Racing Bros," are learning to cover their asses ahead of time?
More than one dinosaur per map? This game is so high end and system taxing that it can't render rocks more than 5 feet in front of you. You're asking the impossible if you want more dinos per map.
Mr Jim Sterling I recently discovered you on UA-cam after watching your slaughtering grounds melt down video and enjoyed it so much that I then went in search for more of your videos and I must say, the content you put out is UA-cam gold. You don't fail to entertain me in any video. Keep up the great work dude 👍
Allosaurus was smaller than T-Rex, and it was also from an earlier period in history. Also, the long necked one was likely an Apatosaurus. Brontosaurus isn't a fake dinosaur, it's just that it was discovered the the bones for the Brontosaurus actually belonged to a dinosaur that was already classified. You might be thinking of Diplodocus, though.
+cheezemonkeyeater There are some scientists that suggest the Brontosaurus did exist (www.wired.com/2015/04/scientists-say-time-reinstate-brontosaurus/).
It's possible. The field of paleontology has always been educated guesswork based on clues we can find in the fossilized bones and as new technology gives us better way to analyze those fossils, we may re-evaluate old assumptions. This is, after all, how we came to think of most theropods having feathers.
I checked steam. Saw this game, saw how cheap it was and the bad scores it had. Thought to myself that Jim will probably take a look at it. Come onto UA-cam and boom, there it is just been uploaded. I think I'm a wizard.
4:00 OMG I heard hump a dinosaur instead of hunt! Oh and good job Jim for researching your dino facts, and accepting when you made a mistake about dinosaurs. 11:00 watch as the majestic whatever climbs up a pile of rocks... Truly it's amazing. I love the dino puns! Also Ijust noticed they all have the same death sound!
+Christian Neihart Uhm as far as I know Brontosaurus and Apatosaurus are not the same thing anymore... www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-brontosaurus-is-back1/
I think Jim should be very worried that someone somewhere is watching this video and taking his sarcasm as a compliment. "Oh, another first person survival horror shooter. This is certainly a rarity." "Wow, really? Good thing my next game is exactly like that!" Seems reasonable when you consider the average IQ of one of these devs.
Marquis Forneus Yeah they are. Almost every comment of yours is "(insert game/meme/something here) is so hardcore. Jim you don't get it." It's an overused joke by this point.
+Xen Noxatron He in a way is just like the developers of shitty games like this, keeps squirting out the same shit over and over but with just a new coat of paint/a new twist. Some stuff he has commented has been quite funny, but most is the same old shit over n over. Comes with the territory I suppose, see the same shitty assets/games everyday expect the same comments day after day. I think he has just got a cult following now that upvote for the hell of it, even when it ain't funny/witty etc.
I'm glad that there are a lot of people here, including Jim, who are interested in dinosaurs. I was actually surprised someone knew about allosauruses. Allosaurus isn't really a famous type of dinosaur.
Jim, whenever you have trouble shooting sniper rifle, just don't think about it too much. Just as soon as you see that you have shot perfectly lined up, shoot, don't think about it, just enter the "happy trigger" mode and shoot shoot shoot. Thinking too much about your shot is what causes you to miss 90% of the time. I am doing that now in Counter Strike and it does work 60% of the time.
Dinosaur Hunt has come a long way since this video. Now, it's got cards to farm, achievements to spam, DLC packs, and a "Special Edition" bundle that includes a bunch of developer's otherwise unrelated games.
You know I am actually surprised Jim was able to actually SHOOT the dinosaurs, cause I believe in his Best of Steam Greenlight video the trailer never actually showed the player shooting any dinosaurs at all. So hey at least there is that?
You called it a Paracephalosaurus and then said it was your favourite dinosaur Jim... It's called a Parasaurolophus. You got it mixed up with Pachycephalosaurus
For 99 cents, this is at least better than slaughtering grounds or unturned ( or insert asset flip game) . The fact the dev knows it's a bad game, and openly admits it.I have to respect that. Unlike other "devs"..
Jim, I know it's a minor thing, but I'd love it if you went through the effort of making a distinction between "assets" and "stock assets". Because you mostly refer to the second. That pop-in is well hidden. You can barely see vegetation and rocks pop-in, because the range is so low you can only see the objects when you look down.
Sniper rifle =/= AK47 ..Sad, now the asset flippers don't even take the time to make sure that they flip the right model. ..Maybe they assumed that ANYthing becomes a sniper rifle if you strap a scope to it.. like putting a scope on your knife as an example.
Hey Jim Don't feel bad about the allosaurus gaff, my 1001 dinosaur fact book (which i still have from when i was 10) says the same thing. Hell, maybe thats how you got it in your head
Brontosaurus is a synonym for Apatosaurus. Or maybe not, according to a study published this year Brontosaurus is a separate species from Apatosaurus, but not all paleontologists agree on that. And Allosaurus was massive, but not as much as a T. Rex.
Jim, did you know that even though the t-rex's arms look small in comparison to its body each one was about three feet long and was probably strong enough to curl 400 pounds
actually the Allosaurus was a bit smaller than the t-Rex (still pretty massive tho)
+1stshockarmy Ah fuck, I made a dinosaur mistake!
+Jim Sterling I guess you could say you didn't SAUR that coming haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Ok I'll lead myself out...

+Jim Sterling Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that all the dinosaurs have the same roar for almost everything?
"I like to be a bit hipster with my dinosaurs"
-Jim Sterling, 2015
+Sutekh94 Yeah, that statement made me question my favorite dinosaurs. Thanks, Jim, now I need to reevaluate my entire childhood. Ya jerk. :P
+Sutekh94 I'm a bit of a Poposaurus fan do you think i would be considered a bit hipster with my dinosaurs?
+ghjk9592 But Poposaurus isn't a Dinosaur...
SeriousPain touché, technically it can be argued its close enough though. but you got me
Got to say, it has captured the feel of an early 2000s bargain bin FPS quite well.
Gotta love that they seem to have used the same hitbox for every dino.
Maaaaan I hope dinosaurs doesn't become the new 'zombies' -_-
You mean the OLD zombies ;)
+CreepsMcPasta Dinosaurs were new zombies before zombies were zombies.
well we can only hope for Zombie dinosaurs ala parasite eve now.
+CreepsMcPasta Why, do you hate fun?
+CreepsMcPasta I do, dinosaurs are way better and cooler than zombies.
So basically the Dinosaurs in this game have the same amount of HP as the Honey Badgers from Far Cry 4
From the message boxes to the floating dinosaur, this is the most I've enjoyed one of Jim's videos, and just 9 minutes in.
Okay, I actually think the game dev. for this one might be Digital Homicide, renamed. Check out the wording in the description of this game:

interesting
I have a feeling the developper of this game did, in fact, spared some expense.
"Why would you play this for 29 minutes?!?"
"This is stupid!"
*Watches whole video.*
I live in (South) Africa.
This game give an inaccurate presentation of what it's like hunting dinosaurs in The Africa.
Our dinosaurs are much faster.
and you usually have waaaay less bullets hahaha
+Andrew Davis And I don't think half-timber houses are the prevalent architectural style of The African zombie villages. 0/10
That's right, you guys have Ostriches, don't you? Lol
More than one dinosaur per map? This game is so high end and system taxing that it can't render rocks more than 5 feet in front of you. You're asking the impossible if you want more dinos per map.
I love the 2 foot draw distance on those detail meshes.
Diplodocus?
+chris lowis THAT'S the bastard!
Jim Sterling glad to help
Apatosaurus I think is the one that gets mixed up the most.
Jim, this April had Brontosaurus re-established as an actual dinosaur. I was surprised to find out, too. The game did a thing right, on accident.
Jim May I say that you are a Golden God.
There ought to be a Chungussaurus!
What have we learned here? That your expectations cannot ever be low enough.
Spared no expense.
+Paradox Acres
I see what you did there. XD
+Paradox Acres A followup: "That's a big pile of shit"
+Crew Glove The developers were so preoccupied about whether or not they could they didn't stop to think if they should.
Void Heart
Amen.
+Paradox Acres Clever Girl ....

"Dinosaurs are endangered" - Jim Sterling 2015
You should hold a telethon for them Chungus.
The sad thing is this is more competent than a lot of the games that have popped up more recently
I checked steam. Saw this game, saw how cheap it was and the bad scores it had. Thought to myself that Jim will probably take a look at it. Come onto UA-cam and boom, there it is just been uploaded. I think I'm a wizard.

Brontosaurus=Apatosaurus, and the the word you are looking for is Diplodocus.
+Christian Neihart
Uhm as far as I know Brontosaurus and Apatosaurus are not the same thing anymore...
www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-brontosaurus-is-back1/
HanniballXII I stand corrected. I was under the assumption that they were the same. I hadn't read the study.
I was under the same assumption, until I read that article about two weeks ago =)
Earlier this year a study concluded they weren't the same, but not all paleontologists agree on that yet.
SeriousPain Consensus is a thing acquired in time.
I think Jim should be very worried that someone somewhere is watching this video and taking his sarcasm as a compliment.
"Oh, another first person survival horror shooter. This is certainly a rarity."
"Wow, really? Good thing my next game is exactly like that!"
Seems reasonable when you consider the average IQ of one of these devs.
That Africa map...with that cliff and rock placement.
it's that mobile game where you shoot dinos.
I don't think it's a good marketing strategy to outright state "Our game is shit" but kudos to the dev(s) for being honest about it.
So in Jim's efforts to provide us with game more than just FPH or zombie games, he plays a Dino game. Which ends up being a zombie game. What a twist.
My favourite dinosaur is probably the Brachiosaurus due to their massive size and somewhat cute faces :-P
"I see it has all the sprinting capacity of well me in real life."
Hit too close to home.
Dinosaurs so occult, so hardcore. you just don't get it Jim.
Honestly your comments are the same s*** all the time.
Xen Noxatron except when they are not.
Marquis Forneus Yeah they are. Almost every comment of yours is "(insert game/meme/something here) is so hardcore. Jim you don't get it."

Legion563
Amen.
It's funny how it's immediately obvious a lot of these games are better than The Slaughtering Grounds...
Goddamn it I was expecting zombie dinosaurs!!!
I just not but 5 minutes ago, saw this on the steam store and was already looking forward to this squirty play... thank god for him.
I'm glad that there are a lot of people here, including Jim, who are interested in dinosaurs. I was actually surprised someone knew about allosauruses. Allosaurus isn't really a famous type of dinosaur.

That's closer to a Utahraptor, but a little fatter and more derpy. Also is that a fucking AK47 model? That ain't no sniper rifle XD
+XajakXx Looks like an SVD kind of.
+Nine Hydras Not really ,just looks like AK, SWD is in AK family but thats ak not SWD
Lets all get scientific and technical about these purchased asset packs.
"Did it shit itself when it died!?" Hahaahhaahh
Need more dinosaur games...
Good dinosaur games, of course.
+Vestyxe play Primal Carnage that is a good dino game
I know both of those but thanks for taking the time to comment anyway guys. :)
I'm still holding out for a new Dino Crisis.
+Vestyxe For a good Dinosaur hunting game there's always Carnivores. The remake is pretty good from what I heard.
+Vestyxe Orion Dino horde? (kappa)
I did enjoy the old carnivores games when I was younger.
Covrig, I will fight you on the streets.
The dark souls bit and the intense combat when he's fighting the brontosaurus with a knife had me laughing so hard!
Zombie mode with static assets from Doom 3 - very rewarding!
21:58, my sides have taken liftoff, good stuff Jim.
Everytime you made a dinosaur pun my soul died a little bit.
i love the videogame logic, where bows are deadlier than guns. "sniper rifle? pssshhh, i just need a well aimed shot of my crossbow!"
Haha the popin 2 meters in front of you Haha hilarious!
Dinosaur Hunt has come a long way since this video. Now, it's got cards to farm, achievements to spam, DLC packs, and a "Special Edition" bundle that includes a bunch of developer's otherwise unrelated games.
Diplodocus, Mr. Sterling. That's the long neck dinosaur you're thinking of.
Diplodocus is the the sauropod you were trying to remember I think, though there are quite alot of them
rocks render 5 feet infront of you, an AK47 with a high powered rifle scope, dinos with next-gen AI (PS4 and XBONE are jealous). This game is pure.
Only three minutes in and I'm thinking to myself that those pop ins would drive Totalbiscuit insane
I lost it when the "brontosaurus" stood on your head.
Taking out a Brontosaurus with a combat knife. That's some level-100 Colonel shit right there.
You know I am actually surprised Jim was able to actually SHOOT the dinosaurs, cause I believe in his Best of Steam Greenlight video the trailer never actually showed the player shooting any dinosaurs at all. So hey at least there is that?
So this used to be "Dinosaur Hunter 3D"......i thought it looked crappily familiar!
quality pun in the title, Jim
You called it a Paracephalosaurus and then said it was your favourite dinosaur Jim...
It's called a Parasaurolophus. You got it mixed up with Pachycephalosaurus
I'll take this over a first-person horror game on Steam any day of the week.
You and me Jim, we are brothers with that sniper rifle, BROTHERS! I too am shit with it and shit just in the way you described it.
You know when Africa, Winter and Zombie are in the same list you're in for a bad time.
For 99 cents, this is at least better than slaughtering grounds or unturned ( or insert asset flip game) . The fact the dev knows it's a bad game, and openly admits it.I have to respect that. Unlike other "devs"..
WTF lol Ya gotta love how the dino droppings spawn on the ground when you walk around. lol
Dino.........dropping........droppings???
😉
You're on a roll, Jim Fucking Sterling Son.
such a great vid good to watch for the third time
Hey Uncle Jim JIm, what story have you got for me today!!???
Jim, I know it's a minor thing, but I'd love it if you went through the effort of making a distinction between "assets" and "stock assets". Because you mostly refer to the second. Just saying "assets" is meaningless. Anything you see in a game is technically assets, whether it's been bought or created by the developer.
+The Proton Pack what even?
Yay, more asset flips! I haven't watched the video yet, but I assume that it's just mismatched assets, with some basic FPS pack or something.
I can't wait to unlock the ability to explore the map. Thrilling!
The moment you realize the "sniper rifle" is just a semi-automatic AK47 with a scope.
OMG AT 8:00 WHEN YOU SAID THAT I ROFLED SO HARD I CRIED!!!!!!! XD
I know this is an ancient vid, but the armchair paleontologist in me needs to clarify things. It was originally called brontosaurus, then, around the early 90's they counted a supposedly more in tact skeleton with an extra vertebrae or 2, so they changed its name to Apatosaurus, then, a few years ago, they realized the extra vertebrae were from another animal completely, so they 86-ed the name change so it was back to Brontosaurus and Apatosaurus was considered the incorrect name.
The other name you were trying to remember was Diplodocus which was substantially bigger and had a crested nasal cavity/crest along the top.
This game looks like Jurassic Failure
Love how the crossbow just does not give one crossbowy fuck about where you point the scope
On one hand, I'm glad Valve doesn't have a mystical black box process to allow games on Steam -- on the other hand, I'm sad because way too much stuff is seeping through the cracks that really don't belong on Steam. It is truly a slippery slope trying to decide is "worthy" to be on Steam, but there should at least be some inherent standards.
This is really surreal... the wonky shotcam, the pointless ammo restocking system, the depressing task of plinking away at poor bastards until they fall over... I feel like this is intended as a mobile game with microtansactions? The menus, the tedious goldfarming, the tiered play-to-unlock system.
That pop-in is well hidden. You can barely see vegetation and rocks pop-in, because the range is so low you can only see the objects when you look down.
Brontosaurus' are actually back to being a real dinosaur again
+lgstanton96 "Brontosaurus is back on the menu!"
Jim, I'm very similar with sniper rifles, I get really nervous when I use them and therefore end up missing a lot
Aww I was hoping for a Ty The Tasmian Tiger squirty play. Although it' only just dropped today.
Actually Jim, Brontosaurus is now seen as a real dinosuar.
Jathinkhesaurus?
Chungusaurus.
Sniper rifle =/= AK47
..Sad, now the asset flippers don't even take the time to make sure that they flip the right model.
..Maybe they assumed that ANYthing becomes a sniper rifle if you strap a scope to it.. like putting a scope on your knife as an example.
+Scharrez Or putting a scope on the scope that's already on another scope.
Hey Jim
Don't feel bad about the allosaurus gaff, my 1001 dinosaur fact book (which i still have from when i was 10) says the same thing. Hell, maybe thats how you got it in your head
The dinosaur you were searching for that isn't a Brontosaurus is Diplodocus, I believe.
+Jim Sterling
Did you review Romero's Aftermath yet? It's from the guy that made WarZ and Big Rigs.
+David Wolfe It also costed 50 bucks before it was launched F2P on steam.
Still only less than a dollar, so I fully expect an 8/10 from Jim, citing the value you get for the price.
the popping is amazing!
flying dinosaurs and a draw distance so low I could almost cry
Those pebbles appearing only when Jim is 50cm from them bother me a lot.
This was made in gameguru. (a continuation of FPSGM or whatever that FPS game engine was)
Brontosaurus is a synonym for Apatosaurus. Or maybe not, according to a study published this year Brontosaurus is a separate species from Apatosaurus, but not all paleontologists agree on that.
And Allosaurus was massive, but not as much as a T. Rex.
why are their zombies in my dinosaurs?
+Dragoon-BB because the devs breathe through there skin
why are their dinosaurs in my zombies?
Jim, you're thinking of diplodocus
Wherein we learn that Jim does not know his dino lore. See what I did there? Dino lore...rhymes with dinosau-I'll show myself out.
Didn't you make a Best of Steam Greenlight Trailers of this game? Or was that a different dinosaur game?
Jim, did you know that even though the t-rex's arms look small in comparison to its body each one was about three feet long and was probably strong enough to curl 400 pounds
No, I think a T-Rex is bigger than an Allosaurus.
Could be wrong, though.
You killed Ducky!
Just like her dad did.
...ok, now I feel bad for bringing up something so terrible.
