This was a very good performance of this classic song. Went to Rolf's concert last year and the roof went off it was an unforgettable experience. I hoped to see him again next month at Beste zangers live concert but it is postponed again du to Covid 19

It really is such a shame Eric Carmen's original version vanished out of the spotlight when Celine released it. And her version is only half as good, imagine that.
Celine's version can't even stand in the shadows of the original!
This is a all time favorite song. Rolf did a good job. His voice and that high note. I enjoyed it.
I remember when Rolf would come by my house to hangout with my brothers and talk about how he was gonna make it in music someday, and he did and I'm so proud to know him and have seen his music career grow up-close.

The original song is from Eric Carmen and was releasedin 1975. As an old 70’s DJ, I played that record a lot of times. Celine Dion covered later, but I think Rolf did a good job and came close to the original of Eric Carman.

This might be just me but i kinda like this song better in Spanish and i do love the Celine song itself a great deal but it just has something different and special to me.
Or maybe its just that i fell in love with this guy on the show and he could sing a phonebook to me and i'd still enjoy it lol.. might be that too ;)
Rolf was a complete stranger for me when they introduced him on the show but he quickly got my attention with his performances, the way he made each song his own, added his touch to them. It became pretty clear that he's a real performer, a show-master and from live performances i've watched after the show ended.. yeah that guy is a stage beast, born to entertain.

Indeed and not a lot of people remember that because of Celine's version becoming such a massive hit.
In a lesser way you can compare these songs to "I will always love you" by Whitney and the original by Dolly. (but more people know its a Dolly Parton song)

The original song is from Eric Carmen in the seventies, but really based on Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto.
That is correct. He went and pilfered the theme from the slow movement of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto. It was, actually, not the last time Mr Carmen went and raided the Rachmaninoff vault of great tunes. The following year, he pilfered the main theme from the slow movement of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Symphony for his other major hit; Never Gonna Fall In Love Again. He did, eventually, receive a tap on the shoulder from the Rachmaninoff estate and an agreement was reached that they would receive a 12% cut on all royalties for both songs.

Rolf said there already was a spanish version by Il Divo. You really should listen to Il Divo. I don't think you will find a lot of people in the comments that ask you to listen to them because a lot of people don't know them. They really deserve more attention. Il Divo is a group of four men. One pop singer, 2 tenors and a bariton. They sing different kind of songs. I went to a concert once in 2013 and they blew me away. Their voices are amazing and they always bring me to tears.. Unfortunately one of the members passed away on the 19th of december 2021, of Covid. Please listen to Amazing grace, from their concert An Evening With Il Divo (Live in Barcelona).

@Peter Keijsers man that was quote, once a TV reporter asked David foster the producer of Celine's all by myself version, he said (when Céline sung your songs it's no longer your song) the meaning of that (the power of love) *air supply and Jennifer song went to number 1 on billboard with Celine's version. Thus, in essence, that doesn't mean she did not buy the copyrights of the songs that would not be legal and her label would not release the songs. While Eric and Jennifer, Patti and meat loaf and many more release some song that Céline has done a cover to, she only manages to take those songs to higher positions in charts and many more with the record sales.
If you love the Spanish version then you should really check out Il Divo singing it. Its awesome!
