I'm an ex-figure skating coach who just retired. I started off with ballet training, which I loved. This move in skating is called an axel, and the technique is the same as you describe, except we lean a little forward on the take off prep, so that we can hit the toe pick of the blade; and the kicking leg is bent (we are kicking the knee essentially). We straighten the kicking leg a little more if we want a big, delayed jump. Yes, we point the toe inside the skate boot because it is how you control the end of your leg. It is very similar. I really like your descriptions, particularly for partner work.

This tutorial helped my double saut de basque become alot more stable in the air which made my landings much softer. Thank you so much!

Hey, I have been practicing stepping into my saut de basque also! But I am not getting 2x around. I will try throwing my leg and jumping to the “chair.” Hearing you explain it and seeing you do it is amazing. Thank you so much!

Brilliant tutorial... The quality of both your teaching and cinematography are far superior to any of the youtube ballet tutorials. Hoping that you'll create a double assemble companion tutorial

If you are a Smurf lost at sea and know nothing about how to teach b ballet, then yeah. Being a great at something does Not mean being a good teacher.

I learned to do it from one diagonally, doing just a half, then they taught me how to do a double diagonally and then I learned how to do a double to the side

Hey, man! Have you noticed that when you do the jump from one step and from jete en tournant it's like the same height? That's not a good sign. Your jump from one step is very good, but in combination you make a couple of mistakes.

I have trouble jumping up, I usually jump to the side and this makes the step hard

Yes, that’s quite common actually, try to make your last step before jump a bit bigger than the other steps! When we prepare for saut de basque we create a lot of momentum and that last step will help you just go up!

This is great show off but NOT even remotely teaching.
