Thank you for the video, and the time you put in it. Obviously, some people (quite oddly, to me) fail to recognize (1) that this video was put together for pleasure, as a hobby, and it is NOT a decree dictating what YOU MUST think; (2) that it requires a lot of effort; (3) that it reflects one person's personal opinion; (4) that this is a great way to introduce these artists to viewers who aren't well-acquainted with ballet yet, but are interested in it. Plus, I thought that ballet was supposed to be an elegant, graceful form of art, so what the hell is with all this fanaticism? By no means does a person have to share your views about matters of arts. Perhaps, next time, you might offer your OWN PERSONAL OPINION a little more humanely than this, guys. And, again, CAN'T YOU FREAKIN' READ? The list consists of ballet dancers WHO STILL PERFORM. PS: I just love Vyacheslav Lopatin, so it made me really happy to see that you share my opinion:)

When I was 6, my mom took her Girl Scout troop to see the Royal Danish ballet with Eric Bruhn. They did Copelia. I still remember it nearly 70 years later. I was hooked. Sal Hurok used to bring the Bolshoi or the Kirov to Detroit every winter and the Royal Ballet every summer. I always got tickets for Christmas and my birthday. We saw Baryshnikov and Makarova before they left the Kirov. We saw Nureyev and Fonteyn. Then Hurok died and they didn’t come anymore. When I was 18 I moved to New York and waited in line for standing room. Then I moved to Dublin for school and would go to London during ballet season.now I live in a small town where the ballet never comes. You Tube just isn’t the same but it beats nothing.

Is that what you call the men who dance ballet, ballerinos?! That makes total sense! I was trying to find out a bit ago! Thank you very much! I love these male ballet dancers or ballerinos!!!! They are so talented and fabulous and such great dancers! Thank you to these 10 male dancers and to the rest of their companies here!
i think it is fair to say that Polunin is a dancer that is quite special in this time, his value is not about being on the stage and techniques but his pioneer behaviour and his revoluntionary thoughts. If I would say anything that disagrees with this video, I would really want Vlad Lantratov from Bolshoi on this list. He is such a talented young dancer and really has a lot of chiasma with various prima ballerinas in the Bolshoi!
Yes, finally someone mentioned Lantratov! I love him with Ekaterina Krysanova in The taming shrew and in Don Q with Maria Alexandrova. Shame that he doesn't have more recognition but I don't think he actually cares.
Not a dancer, but I made the mistake of watching Barishnikov's solos from The Turning Point before watching this video, and so was waiting to see dancing of that calibre. The only guy here who I though approached that was Vasiliev. That being said, this was clearly a list of current dancers, not the top 15 of all time, and I also like the guy in the kilt and the last guy, who I thought was really expressive/showed a lot of personality.
That was very worth watching. Thank you for the overview. But Im curious, what about Sergei Polunin? All these dancers were very, very good, but in my last few weeks of research on YT, I’ve not seen anything close, including these wonderful men. None have the elevation or extension I’ve seen in Polunin’s work, particularly his solo non-traditional work. & his lines...... OMG. They are divine. I’d be very interested to hear what you think of my position.... but either way, thanx for your hard work in putting this vid together.
When ol’ Ivan Vasiliev came bursting out onto stage you couldn’t help yourself from going “ oh myGod; poar!” He’s such an explosive dancer and of course that scene in particular shows off all these talents. I also loved Leonid Sarafaov’s incredible lightness and Roberto Bolle’s drop dead elegance and all round gorgeousness. He is so much taller than all the others so it’s quite a bit harder for him. Alban Lendorf’s exquisite dreamlike litheness. 🎉 He was a light as a feather. The German dancer Friedmann Vogel nailed it, he made it all look easy and had a very winning smile. Some of the dancers forget to connect with the audience, but he didn’t. How the hell Vladimir Shklyarov pulled off those incredible technical steps. I’ll never know . 18 years of training I guess !! They are ALL fabulous dancers, the lot of them. Thanks for posting. It’s interesting seeing all the different strengths the dancers have in the different choreographic settings. I too love Kim Kin and McCrae.
Thank you for recognize our two best male dancers at ONP, Heyman and Ganio (but you may find a more recent video of Ganio). But perhaps in a very short time Hugo Marchand will enter in that great top 15...
Alas, I was at the advanced age of 19 when I transitioned from ballroom to ballet. I could dream about achieving the technique of these professionals, but never quite got there. At least they inspire me to keep up with barre and movement as much as possible at my truly advanced age! Just to pull off a piroette without tweaking the medial meniscus of my supporting leg is a major accomplishment for me these days.
It is her top 10, not your top 10. I wouldn't even put him in my top 25. And i don't know any hungarian ballet dancer honestly. Most great dancers comes from historical companies like paris opera, mariinsky, bolshoi, danish ballet, royal ballet (the last one isn't historical but very prestigious).
Polunin was the nr one for a few years in the time of the RB but now, he doesn#t like to train like crazy and has other projects. That's why he's not the best anymore.
Robin 2000 he has a large number of fans who disagree, I think. He is a superb partner. And, like Fonteyn in her time, he seems to be exactly where he should be - that is, at home - at all times, doing what it is first nature for him to do.
Nureyev's flamboyant lifestyle, courage and choreography obscured his singular brilliance in marrying contemporary dance with academic ballet. Very famous but underrated as a pure dancer. He moved like a panther while maintaining the highest standards of the classical Kirin technique. The best ever.

Hey! Of all things, you left out the number one (1) male ballet dancer of all times! How could you not remember Nikolai Tsishraridze? I suggests you take some Prepergin. This will revive the memory cells!
JUST A SUGGESTION: Put up a list of the top 15 "Ballet-Masters". Those who compose and arrange the dance themselves... Dance bosses such as George Balanchine, Peter Martins, Martha Graham, etc.
Hey, BalletGirl, I loved this collection. I think maybe you should think about a #16: António Casalinho. He's Portugese and set to conquer the world. There's a video of his academy's "Giselle" on YouTupe. He made me cry in Act 2. The guy is 17 and he made me cry because he *was* Albrecht. So many male dancers stun with their superb technique, so much so that one can forget that they are - usually - supposed to be a character. And the character is often missing. (Well, why complain when they knock you out with unbelievable technical excellence?) But this young man, at 17 -- and also dancing beautifully -- actually made me cry because he WAS who he was supposed to be. Have we found the Callas of male dancers? I hope I live long enough to find out.
My objections to Polunin have nothing to do with his behavior. Some of his limitations can't be helped, such as his enormous skull, but this does distort his proportions. He has limited flexibility in his hamstrings, and his arabesque is particularly tight. All this means that he can't really achieve beautiful line. His back and torso are also very stiff. There is almost no movement front to back or side to side. It's hard to believe he's a graduate of the Royal Ballet School. He holds his arms extremely rigidly. During preparations for pirouettes he allows his supporting leg to turn in. The quality of his dancing is relentlessly vertical. This, of course, includes a very high jump. But his preparations show great exertion: chin jutting forward, arms flapping. This wouldn't be a problem if he were competing in the high jump at the Olympics, but it's completely antithetical to the classical ideal of concealed effort. He also jumps with more force than he can control, so landings on one leg often have a double bounce. He lacks finesse, elegance and, most importantly, ease. Polunin is an interesting personality, and there are roles I would be curious to see him dance, even though he performs with a narcissism that I find very unappealing. But based on the ballets I've seen him dance in the theater--Giselle and The Sleeping Beauty--I have absolutely no desire to see him in a classical ballet ever again.
I saw a ballet years ago and the principle make dancer did split leaps twice as far as any of these dancers. Im not ballet afficianado so I can't say if he was an overall better dancer but damn he was super human. The ballet was a tragedy of some kind. Thnx for posting!
hey people this is HER taste. Just take it as it is! Sooo pointless to say this and that is missing. It's HER choice. She likes what she likes (-:

@@judithbereczky4114 Spartacus of course but j like very much his " Tchaikovsjy pdd ' with Darcey Bussel , it's very beautiful to see a viril man in dance not always in this work !
The poster said, in her video description, that she was choosing only from the current dancers of 2017. :)
Thank u for the video. Some artists I didn' t knew before.
Polunin, Tetsuya Kamakawa, Daniil Simkin, Osiel Gouneo, Joseph Gatti,Ceasar Coralles, Isaac Hernandez.. Much better than some people on this list
I agree!
yes you are f... right. this list is a fucking joke. How in this fucking world are you gonna make a list of the best ballet dancers without the cuban ballet dancers. there are at least 5 cuban ballet dancers better than almost every body in that list. so you people have to see more ballet.
Tetsuya must!!!!
@@carlosmiguelsocarrasgonzal3031 This is a list of HER favourites. Don't like it ... tough!!
@@carlosmiguelsocarrasgonzal3031 i don't think a list based on artistic nationalism would be better.
Love this vid. Think my top 4 (of the last few years) might be Hallberg, McRae, Kim and Vasiliev
10:58 very impressive but I am sad Nureyev even not mentioned :(
These are only dancers who are currently dancing as of July 2017, that's why.
Anybody have a good word for Tsiskaridze? Not that I am as expert as some, but he looks like a very good dancer to me.
@@OFWarhhbTN Also to me!!!
@@OFWarhhbTN He is superb, but not dancing currently
Search and watch Mikhail Baryshnikov Don Quixote. You will know who is the best
She's only listed guys who are actively dancing
I have a DVD of his DQ, amazing
Didn't she say that this was a selection of only dancers presently performing.
Baryshnikov is still dancing and still acting 😊
Yuppppppp
Todos Lo Máximo!!! No Se Pueden Comparar. Señores y Señoras, Esto Si Que Es Danza 💘 👏🏽
Half dancer's in this list Russian. So proud
its pretty logical considering that russia is the country where ballet is a popular art.
In Greece, where I live, it's common knowledge that the Russian ballet dancers are the BEST in the world.
Rightfully so. Russian ballet is indisputably superior.
Русская школа балета безподобна 👌
The russian ballet school is obviously the strongest. But the best man of it was Baryshnikov.
Nureyev? Nijinski? Mujamedov? Ruzimatov? MALAKHOV!?!?!
i think it is fair to say that Polunin is a dancer that is quite special in this time, his value is not about being on the stage and techniques but his pioneer behaviour and his revoluntionary thoughts.
Coming back in 5 years, I’m afraid to say Polunin is lost on me. I’d also put Daniil Simkin on this list
Замечательная подборка,мужские партии не менее красивы,чем женские.Раньше мужчин больше для поддержек использовали.Браво!!!
Ну , тогда оцените мою подборку ! ua-cam.com/video/5PeBxhJ5XvY/v-deo.html
My vote for #1 of all time: Mikhail Baryshnikov. How did he not even make this list?
That was very worth watching. Thank you for the overview.
But Im curious, what about Sergei Polunin?
All these dancers were very, very good, but in my last few weeks of research on YT, I’ve not seen anything close, including these wonderful men.
None have the elevation or extension I’ve seen in Polunin’s work, particularly his solo non-traditional work.
& his lines...... OMG. They are divine.
I’d be very interested to hear what you think of my position.... but either way, thanx for your hard work in putting this vid together.
They are all so amazing. No need rankings!
Kimin Kim is the Best
Avec Ivan VASELIEV!!!
Kimin Kim
Ivan Vasiliev, Roberto Bolle, Seymon Chudin, Friedemann Vogel, Yadim Muntagirov são maravilhosos e perfeitos. Mas e Sergei Polunin????????
Thank you for this wonderful compilation, I really enjoyed it!
Natalie Dapnza
Farukh Ruzimatov, Yury Soloviov, Vladimir Vasiliev, Vaslav Nijinskiy, Carlos Acosta, Jorge Donn .............
Currenly dancing!.. Read the description.
@@Eugene_The_Libertarian Plus, no motion pictures of Nijinsky dancing exist...
Thank you for recognize our two best male dancers at ONP, Heyman and Ganio (but you may find a more recent video of Ganio). But perhaps in a very short time Hugo Marchand will enter in that great top 15...
Saw Hugo Marchand this week---he is a magnificent dancer. Is Matthias Heymann still dancing? He's beautiful.
Ну , тогда оцените мою подборку ! ua-cam.com/video/5PeBxhJ5XvY/v-deo.html
❤Михаила Лобухина
Alas, I was at the advanced age of 19 when I transitioned from ballroom to ballet. I could dream about achieving the technique of these professionals, but never quite got there. At least they inspire me to keep up with barre and movement as much as possible at my truly advanced age! Just to pull off a piroette without tweaking the medial meniscus of my supporting leg is a major accomplishment for me these days.
/
all of them were marvellous but where is baryshnikov and nuryeyev
Dead and retired
Was delighted to see Steven McRae at no.1 My favourite too.
I love Steven McRae! So many good ones in this list.
Could you make a top 15 male ballet dancers of all time list? Not just people that actively dance
hi,
where is Sergei Polunin, I think he is the No.1 :) , and where is the lot of Hungarian balett dencers... :) ???
It is her top 10, not your top 10. I wouldn't even put him in my top 25.
And i don't know any hungarian ballet dancer honestly. Most great dancers comes from historical companies like paris opera, mariinsky, bolshoi, danish ballet, royal ballet (the last one isn't historical but very prestigious).
Polunin was the nr one for a few years in the time of the RB but now, he doesn#t like to train like crazy and has other projects. That's why he's not the best anymore.
Roberto Bolle is much more a beautiful man than a great dancer. For me the best technically and artistically is Ivan Vasiliev
Robin 2000 agree absolutely. I find him unexceptional. He is very beautiful though.
Robin 2000 he has a large number of fans who disagree, I think. He is a superb partner. And, like Fonteyn in her time, he seems to be exactly where he should be - that is, at home - at all times, doing what it is first nature for him to do.
Out of these performances #4 won me over!! 😍
Hum... And... Massimo Murru, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Laurent Hilaire, Sergei Polunin, Nicolas Le Riche, Daniil Simkin, a certain Rudolph Nureyev...???
Nureyev's flamboyant lifestyle, courage and choreography obscured his singular brilliance in marrying contemporary dance with academic ballet. Very famous but underrated as a pure dancer. He moved like a panther while maintaining the highest standards of the classical Kirin technique. The best ever.
It's a list of HER choices. Make your own video if you are so bothered!
Hey! Of all things, you left out the number one (1) male ballet dancer of all times! How could you not remember Nikolai Tsishraridze? I suggests you take some Prepergin. This will revive the memory cells!
Uhm, do you mean Tsiskaridze? He isn't currently dancing.
Hey! You should learn to read! She clearly states these are her own personal choices! I suggest you take something and calm down!
Everyone here is actually so rude, hecking art lovers
JUST A SUGGESTION: Put up a list of the top 15 "Ballet-Masters". Those who compose and arrange the dance themselves... Dance bosses such as George Balanchine, Peter Martins, Martha Graham, etc.
Kimin Kim - my vote for best.......such control and height!
And there is a next great dancer Marcellino Sambè from Brazil in the Royal Ballett.
u forgot sergei polunin....
I find his dancing erratic and his behavior questionable.
behaviour questionable for sure ,but the dancing is outstanding ,
lol
I think his technique has suffered from leaving the Royal Ballet. But that is certainly just my opinion!
The grace, strength and elegance is awesome!
No Baryshnikov? He's the man that put balet on the map! No one had his stage presence, not even Vasiliev....How could you possibly leave him out?
Yes, Baryshnikov was on the best too!💐💚
the list only considered dancers who were still active at the time
I saw a ballet years ago and the principle make dancer did split leaps twice as far as any of these dancers. Im not ballet afficianado so I can't say if he was an overall better dancer but damn he was super human. The ballet was a tragedy of some kind. Thnx for posting!
