Nah I’ll keep my white rog ally. I prefer white colors in general and can’t stand fingerprints. Also both is pretty much equal powerful not much difference. Extra battery life is nice but I don’t mind playing plugged in anyways

In my limited time (and by everything I’ve watched online too) the battery now on the Ally X is absolutely where we now want it to be eg comparable to SD OLED which is incredible! If you’re pretty certain the Ally X is what you want as discussed in the vid eg like black, no more overheat and sd card issues then go for it I’d say, you WON’T be disappointed! 🙌
I got the X and I think it's fantastic. The battery life is far better and the ergonomics are now my favorite of the Legion GO, Steam Deck, and ROG Ally. The X feels perfect in my hands and the fan noise is low enough that I forget it's even there and it's far less high pitched than the original Ally. 2 usb C ports is useful and I like that they took that idea from the Legion Go. The D-pad was a nice improvement despite the last one being my personal favorite on the PC handhelds

I haven't been able to use mine much yet because I spent most the afternoon upgrading ssd, updates and downloading games. The time that I did have its a noticeable upgrade though. This is what should of been released originally last year. I feel like last years release of the ally was the beta version and the battery life was almost embarrassing. Everything they did on the x is better and I feel like its gonna get more than twice the battery life. They made it more efficient also obviously. The fans are more quiet,thumbsticks are nice,more ram and a 2280 ssd. Its a beast I wish had a OLED screen but it is a very nice lcd panel. I think its worth the upgrade if you can get a decent amount for original ally and you can afford it. Definitely a spendy piece of hardware though.
Hmm… I’m surprised you started out with around 850gb, when I was at the point of downloading games I had around the 950gb mark, think just under. I wonder if I skipped installing something like the office package or something. Glad you are enjoying it mate.
Perhaps at that point in the vid when I showed 850gb I had already downloaded FC 24 (about 43gb), Tchia (about 11gb), and Celeste (under 1gb)? It seems like we can’t skip Microsoft Office install which I find BAFFLING - like I say in the vid it’s this moment that slaps us in the face that Windows just was not designed for 7 inch gaming handhelds!

Great video! I love the switch to a black colour, the old Ally is a real dirt magnet and mine frequently gets stained. But with the black shell now you now get fingerprint stains? Really? Not terrible, just a silly swap IMO.

In my first few hours from this vid, if you can deal with the hassle of selling you Z1, you can afford the rest without going into debt, you like black, want to use sd card, want tighter thumbsticks etc then ABSOLUTELY I’d recommend! Congrats, please test Avatar, Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty. Hogwarts Legacy and compare it ROG Ally at 17 W for both, and Turbo. Please set OG ROG Ally @ 6GB VRAM and leave Ally X @ 8GB VRAM default. These games are VRAM heavy and keen to see comparisons.
don't see the need to upgrade, steam deck still does good for emulation, and it's only the same performance as the regular ROG Ally, but with a slightly better Battery Life. plus ASUS's customer support is kind of scummy.
Was gonna get x but got legion go instead and the bigger screen is the right way.also i dont wtf is going on with the x at max tdp its less fps than lego
