Now that I've been inside the Zelda 1 community for over a year, I love hearing all the small things throughout this run that make so much more sense and make the run that much more entertaining.
My first time playing this game, when I fought Manhandla, the boss of level 3, I actually got the one-shot on my first try. That was a pretty good day.
+Sollykun It could just be that the battery needs replaced. I have seen these older carts go all wonky when those batteries are close to dead since they were never intended to be run dry, and he has to access that save space that the battery maintains every time he plays. A good test would be to run this cart off of a Retron console since those temporarily downloads the rom, rather than playing directly from the cart and use an SD card for saving. If it runs without an issue then you know the cart should be fine. If it's the battery it's a super easy fix.
I love Lackattack24's joke at 25:25 or so...LOLing so hard. Haven't watched this in a year at least. "Troll dongo...'he was definitely not a Dodong bro. ' "
@@joeyblowey3460 I wouldn't have believed that as a kid either is the thing. To think we've not only come that far but so far beyond is kind of nuts. Speed running is really cool.
Now I see the real inspiration of Binding of Isaac game. There's a lot of elements which is obviously a reference to the original Zelda game, and I've never known til now. Plus, it's a very fun run to watch, too. :)
WTF ok this is not a joke: I was watching this video on my mobile phone and when he blew the hype train whistle a freaking pidgeon from outside reacted to it. It kept making pidgeon sounds it even landed on at my window searching for the source of the sound maybe it thought that was another pidgeon or something.
+Packages Up+A is a "save and quit" command when done on the second controller. It's used to warp back to the start of the game to save time, but is a different category than what was done here.
These old cartridges are finicky. Maybe serious speedrunners should consider buying a flash cartridge, a cartridge ripper, make backup image of cartridge and flashing the backup image of the game into it. Maybe a bit expensive, but would guarantee reliability.
Ryan Pawelko: This is not true. Each game's community decides what is allowed and what is not. Most retro communities I know of allow Flashcarts, emulation, Virtual Consoles, etc. Also using a Flashcart is using original hardware (runs the original ROM on original hardware). Same thing.
I need to know who the 32 people who disliked an absolutely ridiculous run in the greatest game ever during a no reset fundraiser run to benefit cancer research. Lmao. SHOW YOURSELVES
Pressing Up+A on controller 2 brings up the continue screen (normally seen after a game over), allowing them to instantly jump to either the dungeon entrance or the overworld's starting point.
👎 because using shortcuts, and wall glitches. Can someone please tell me how i can get a legit speed run of this game, without any glitches or shortcuts?
“Thirty minutes? Must be an easy game.”
*thirty minutes into a blind play*
“Wait which way was the tree??”
I love the energy in the crowd for this game!
Run start 0:45. Return to location of crash 15:46.
You da real mvp
Hero
Thank you very much :)
Thanks!
The crowd was awesome in this run! Always makes it more fun to watch ^^
I kind of love how they kept the beginning 7:30 run before the game froze. Still impressed by you, Lack Attack.

Go you
I think the book in 8 should be the "save the animals" of zelda speedrunning.
8:04 I feel like that is what death is like
Lack is why I got back into classic gaming. His twitch stream is awesome, I would recommend everyone subscribing to it.
Jonathan Cilley Does he strictly speed run?
Amazing marathon run, one of my favorites of this AGDQ. The precision and skill required to do the screen scroll glitch that consistently is unreal
My first time playing this game, when I fought Manhandla, the boss of level 3, I actually got the one-shot on my first try. That was a pretty good day.
I remember blowing into the nes cartridge...brings back memories. lol
Man, that hard lock. Time to retire that cart! Love this run! Lackattack is such a great runner.

He was definitely not a Dadong-bro.
Crowd:

PG-4, was his excuse
What's pg 4?
+I Love The Power Glove It's So Bad
Hey, I saw your delightful irony on that Stryder7x video. Whaddup?
So many good memories of this game.
Awesome run. Lack attack is an amazing runner.
When the game freezes in a speedrun... CLASSIC. :-D
24:53 "original Legend of Zelda had some dinosaurs... there's a fuckin' dinosaur right there"
Best Zelda player all time!

Snowman where are you in a time of need ;(
Check the description.
+ragepoweredgamer descriptions and title card at the start of the video are hard to read
ragepoweredgamer
Some of the earlier video's had audio problems fixed I think. Maybe small changes here and there. idk about this vid
If you showed me this as a kid I wouldnt believe it
To think I was once very impressed with myself after beating this in 3 hours, and then beating the second quest in 4....LOL
@@joeyblowey3460 I wouldn't have believed that as a kid either is the thing. To think we've not only come that far but so far beyond is kind of nuts. Speed running is really cool.
This is another reason to buy the upcoming mini NES classic 👌
I really hope it comes with donation reading every 10 seconds, love those....

DrilRemover That's rude.
I remember renting this on a Friday afternoon and trying to beat it before returning on Sunday afternoon. Much less 30 minutes.
link flashing his D at 5:04 and the game cartridge being blown? Lackattack24 is amazing!

The freezing of the nes games, So primitive, yet ancient.
Why the reencoding without fixing the discussion at the start?
the best zelda ever!
0:40 savage
i think the intro card is wrong. Didnt they do up attacks?

+Games Done Quick well that makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking. Now I know, thanks
+Packages AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE!
I was playing this gamw since when I was kid and I won only four Castles but now I discovered a lot of things here in this video .
Beast!

Runs are only considered legal if performed on original hardware
The hardware running the game would be original, only the storage medium from which the game program and data is loaded is switched.
Ryan Pawelko: This is not true. Each game's community decides what is allowed and what is not. Most retro communities I know of allow Flashcarts, emulation, Virtual Consoles, etc.

hax
seriously, can put whatever on that shit
What does the "breakfast room" mean?
the likelikes in the room kinda look like pancakes 4:43
Haha makes sense! I used to call them hamburgers when I was little. XD
I’ll make you some breakfast
I have never seen the original zelda, looks like binding of isaac got a lot of stuff from here!
Yes sir. Both amazing games as well.
+Grimmy Lock Yup. A lot of new things are very old.
I need to know who the 32 people who disliked an absolutely ridiculous run in the greatest game ever during a no reset fundraiser run to benefit cancer research. Lmao. SHOW YOURSELVES
what is the breakfast table
Some of these runners called it the breakfast room...I think because the orange sponges look like pancakes?
It's the breakfast "room."
The Like Likes resemble stacks of pancakes, the Zols are sausages, and the Bubbles are fried eggs.
8:04 bummer =/
WhoHooo The very first Zelda GaME
Opaaa milaw kiallo gia dose kiallo peninta Dimitrios aca jimmy game another 50!!!
I can bare with that because i am greek too! XD
Not sure why everyone cheers every time you grab a Triforce Shard.
Bammer2001 cause they lit af
it’s to congratulate the runner on beating a dungeon. let people be happy bro.
More like Bummer2001, amirite?
What do they mean no up+a?
Pressing Up+A on controller 2 brings up the continue screen (normally seen after a game over), allowing them to instantly jump to either the dungeon entrance or the overworld's starting point.
Thanks.
I just tried that on my original console / game and it didn't work. ??
That one commentator sounds very jealous of the runner.
8:07
*Whaaaaaaaaa???*
LackChamp!
Wow typical NES
ive always thought the ending credits song for zelda is so terrible and out of place.
It's catchy as hell, though. Koji Kondo doesn't mind your criticism.
i quite like it actually
Lol
DO NOT WATCH THIS ON ACID
Why not? :(
👎 because using shortcuts, and wall glitches.
Can someone please tell me how i can get a legit speed run of this game, without any glitches or shortcuts?
This is a legit speedrun. If you’re looking for a glitchless speedrun, there are different categories for that.
Boring!!!!!!
