The bell towers in European towns - normal life. But in downtown Toronto where I lived for over 40 years there was (still there) a clock tower that was where the St. Charles Tavern was - a 70's / 80's gay bar with a disco upstairs. The clock tower faded and didn't work for a long time. It was renovated and the clock operated with a bell sound (I don't think it was a real bell) but it got shut down because locals found the sound bothersome. Can you imagine? Very strange. Well, they tore down the tavern and now there is a 50 story condo - the clock tower was preserved and restored (and moved slightly). I will be in Toronto next week and might check it out. Clean cities are the best cities.
The whole "locals finding bell towers bothersome" thing just grinds our gears. It's funny, how these same people would then spend thousands to go somewhere in Europe for holidays and call bell towers there as charming and authentic. Well, how about don't silence the ones you have nearby? It just makes no sense. One of the many things we love about France is how centre ville is usually protected. Take Paris for example, they had to build the tall towers in La Défense (area just outside of western Paris) because the inside of the city is protected. Currently the same mayor is trying to shove more towers in... People oppose. Time will tell.
What a lovely town. I will put it on my destination list! We need plenty of umbrellas here in Sydney!! 😂😂😂 Rain non stop for nearly 3 weeks. Parts of NSW and Queensland are flooded.
We saw on the news, yes! Crazy! Thankfully this year we have not had any floods so far in our region. Sometimes the Seine gets really high and spills out in some towns. But this year it's different. We even did a flood in Paris episode from early 2021. Stay dry! 😂😂😂

About to move here and don’t speak French yet. Very terrified by that fact but also extremely excited
It’s a matter of time! Practice and be open to talk to everyone. It will come to you. All the best in your new journey here!
@@AntonandSinan I’m a little scared of being judged, but I know all the good people will just be happy that I’m trying to learn.
Exactly! People are generally pleased here when you try to speak to them in French. 😊
I was there a few days ago. You guys did it no justice though. My thoughts are that you either do a vid on the town, or don't. Not much in the video.
Thanks for the comment. We record as we go and show what we see. You are welcome to check out other cities from our channel.😊
@@AntonandSinan this is the first video of yours that i have watched, so will check out others. thanks.

Stay dry! 😂😂😂
