Cobalt issue has been going on before the ev explosion, but the demand for them due to lithium-ion batteries made the situation much worse. Even if you just use lithium, that situation in chile is no better, but naturally people don’t care as much since it isn’t happening to their environment. Thats the point. If your are referring to lfp batteries they still only account for a very small percentage of Electric vehicles. Most still use cobalt and copper

Agree too much. Rented and daily drove a Tesla for 3 months to understand the EV world and to try out it's best, the Tesla, accoridng to whoever glorified it to that level. The car is nothing but gimmicks. The only fancy thing is quick acceleration. Autopilot is not taking you away from the car because you still have to be more vigilant than driving to take over if AP fails, and it has made unsafe driving decisions twice in the span of 3 months. In terms of drive feel and even the basic handling of the car, you start feeling threatened for life above 110 mph because the car starts swaying and rattling. Cannot feel confident to push. Since you can't do that, it is not even a fast car. If any credit has to be given to EVs, I would give it to Mercedes EQ class only. In my opinion they have one of the best EVs on the market by drive experience and by safety. Although ugly, the drive the good. Everything else is just silent garbage.

I’m at 2 months and I have swayed many others who are car enthusiasts into Tesla as an option for their next vehicle just by them riding in the car and not trying to sell them. And I don’t sell cars.
As a car enthusiast who owns a GT-R and a Tesla. The Tesla brings me as much enjoyment driving it daily. I don’t miss the sound. And let’s be serious some cars with their burble farts are excessive and unnecessary. The Tesla as a daily with instant torque is undeniably useful. As for the mining this is typical journalist focusing on the bad of one. ICE vehicles have more parts not to mention production of fuel that can be torn apart for how bad they are. Drive a Tesla for a month and then let’s hear your arguments. And sorry most other EVs do not compare to the power range or charging network of Tesla. Nor their integration with solar, their charging network etc. Light years ahead and yes FSD is useful as for most it drives better than they do making driving safer for all.
