I was actually going to take 4 raspberry pi computers and enclose them in a small box to make a cool quake 3 (and what ever else I could get to run on them) lan box that could be easily thrown into a back pack and taken anywhere and enjoyed by up to four players.
I'd love it if I could run Unreal with it tbh, more of an Unreal guy than Quake but Quake ain't bad either... What about screens tho? I'd love to be able to split-screen too but that would require some form of a PIP machine that could take 4 HDMI signals I think.
@@xan1242 well i think it depends on the design of the box. If its four PIs places properly on each side of the box could it could contain all of each PIs ports right?. The 12-Player Halo 2 LAN party me & fellow pupils held on our final week of school in 2007 remains one of my most beloved multiplayer match-ups I've ever had. None of us had any LCDs at the time (I know it wasn't until late 2007 before any form of flat-screen arrived in my home), so we had to set-up good ol' CRTs (3 small 4:3s, & one huge 16:9) for it, but it was one tidy set-up that made for a grand time with the pure mosh-pit that was King of the Hill on Midship with Rockets-Only easiest to remember. For as inconvenient or lacking in opportunity a good split-screen or LAN get-together can be (Especially when most of my friends are across an ocean, let-alone the country), they'll always be the best way to enjoy a good multiplayer and co-op game, as despite the many true joys I've had from being able to party-up with folks from across the ponds & borders of the world, there's nothing quite like having good company sitting in the same room or even on the same sofa while you journey through Halo together, hug walls in Gears of War, share the mayhem of Castle Crashers, slap each other silly throughout Rayman Origins & Legends, flounder your way through Overcooked! and so much more. And what do you know, it is actually a rainy day on my end. A lovely saving well spent, chap!
