Shawn Colvin is a perfect example of how it's best to seek out quality music rather than wait for mass marketing to present them to you. She had two main marketing pushes in the 90's, but the quality of her music goes much further than the radio-played "hits". And she is so great to see in concert.

She was sick with the flu but did not want to cancel the event and disappoint her fans. That is dedication and a sure way to garnish the love of her fans.

Shawn has always been a very special musician/performer. I've always found her music to be first class. What I've always loved is how Shawn would always have First Class musicians surrounding her...but, lest anyone get the idea that she was using this as some type of crutch, she would often be on stage (solo...just her and her guitar) and absolutely kill it. My only sister died 11 days before your only daughter was born. I started learning your songs starting with ‘Knowing What I Know Now’ with Geoff Bartley and did play them in the subway for awhile. along to that brilliant sight

bound by Divine light

it was the last day
of Saint Peter’s festival
in Gloucester on the beach
when the rainbow came

I wrote this during ‘Occupy Boston’ and took the train down to Gloucester for the festival and while on the beach this phenomenon did occur. It lasted all afternoon and everyone saw it. I’ve never seen anything like that before or since. And from that beach you can see the twin lighthouses prominently so I thought I’d insert ‘Twin Flames’ here. when we are touched by beauty

I was reading ‘A Course In Miracles’ when I wrote this. The book posited correctly I think that the ego interferes with our ability to perceive or ‘hear’ or ‘feel’ the gentle promptings of the Holy Spirit or other spiritual influences but when we get it out of the way we can be led to beautiful insights and realizations as I was led to realize that you are my guardian angel Shawn. So, thank you for guiding me through a nightmare with your beautiful voice, spirit and example. I’d like to think I’m ‘home’ now and safe. I’m content.
