22 hours :) me and my dad loved this band and even went to go see them in Kansas City two years ago I believe?? before they went on break. My dad passed away in September and having new RKS songs give me comfort. Knowing my dad is right next to me listening to them with me. It’s an amazing feeling. I miss you everyday dad.

I may not understand the struggle with gender dysphoria…but, as one of my favorite bands that have gotten me through the lonely nights of finding sobriety & self love. I am also happy for you for finding self love & who you are 🤝

what a huge difference between this song and a song like cold love.. not mad if this the direction they want to go, i'll always have their older songs
I also hope they keep making the occasional folky songs. This one is far more pop. Very fun and I like it, but love their other stuff because the beat and Ela's emotionally raw vocals just open up my heart.

catchy af, AND...as the dad of a 27 yr kiddo who has struggled with both gender & body dysphoria for their entire life, it's great to see artists tackle it head on. it's hard watching your kid struggle and really all you can do is love, accept and support them unconditionally. i know many don't have parents who do, and you deserve better. please remember that. Love the name of the band, too, glad we discovered you today.

Ela, I remember the early days when you guys started this band and now to see where you guys have come, it’s absolutely amazing and I love it. I’ll never forget seeing RKS in concert in Chapel Hill in 2017 and what a great show you guys put on. Hope to see RKS again soon!!

I’ve been an RKS fan since Cocaine Jesus hit my Spotify in 2015, and it’s been pretty interesting to see their rise to fame in recent years. A whole new generation found them, thanks to Freefall blowing up on the Tok. Kinda wild to think that they have the biggest following they’ve ever had and they haven’t put out an album in 6 YEARS. And while I’m happy for them because they deserve all of the success, I’m afraid that I’m experiencing me “growing apart” from them. At least their sound. When you’re a fan of a musical artist early on, you either grow with them or you don’t.
I realize that feeling comes with most any change, but my initial thoughts are that this sounds too watered down, too polished, too…record label-y and mainstream? I mean, it’s noticeably less lyrical than gems like American Shoes & The Comedown and much less passionate than the likes of Cold Love or Lady Lie. I don’t know. This and LOL just don’t do much for me. I hope they grow on me and I’ll gladly listen to their new album come May, but I’m a lot less excited for it.
I spare you my opinion on the whole Charlie situation and IG post, but I will say that this rollout seems a little sloppy for a band signed to Warner.
Forever a fan though. I’ll be replaying their triple threat until May. ✌️
Couldn't agree more. They feel less like a unit, and the writing seems all over the place and unfortunately blinded by hubris. The lyrics and vocal fervor are not compelling like their first three albums... I sure hope this new album in May is a different story, but I'm not holding my breath. Just goes to show how band unity and chemistry matters a ton.
Maybe this will be just an off-period for the band, or the "dark days"... but I do wish them the best and for better days in the future. Charlie will be missed, and so will the original lineup

Agreed regarding the "polish". The composition feels like a song that I'd expect from 2015 Miley Cyrus with a little RKS thrown in.
Growing apart is the appropriate term. Have loved RKS since the early days, but this isn't the sound that attracted me to them. We'll always have the early music.

Im liking the new sound of RKS bringing in bits of pop. Lyrics wise, I know im holding onto nostalgia a bit hard here and want to say that lyrically doesn't feel particularly funky or provocative as their earlier albums. Not my favorite song, but am looking forward to the rest of the album!
