I didn't know about the Mongolian spot until AFTER I took my newborn to her Pediatrician. I'm not very "pigmented" but her Father is. I thought I had hurt her! Shoutout to the nurses who were kind when explaining what it was 😂❤
My Caucasian son was born with a large Mongolian spot above his but which went away before he turned 3. I had to tell anyone who came in contact with him what it is so they don't assume I am abusing him. My husband and I are both white, we are doing a ancestory DNA test now to find out whý he was born with it lol so far we both come from Ireland and Scotland
I’m African and my baby was born with a large dark grey birthmark on her butt. I find it cute but her dad thinks it is weird. She also has little birthmarks on her hands and feet. I think it’s special.
I'm Caucasian, my whole family is, in fact I'm ginger so quite pale, but I had a huge light grey spot on my back, stayed throughout childhood but gone now. It showed up more in the sun but was otherwise very faint. It was apparently another shade of white when I ask mom. Like something that would stay that color even though I became pink or red. But when indoors I am sort of blue already, very dead looking, until I burn 😁then I become human again. So nobody but my family ever knew about the spot.
@@aimzjane3548do you have eastern european blood? Also blocked tear ducts. Mine had blocked tear ducts until the age of one. Apparently it's super common. It looked like they were constantly crying and sad, tears would constantly run down their face, but there was nothing they could do, because apparently it goes away usually by the age of 1 and it did soon after. I have known a few babies have the same thing
Both of my babies hated the swaddle! No matter how good I did it both of them would cry and eventually wiggle right out of it lol. They're 3 and 1 now and they still hate being wrapped up. My 1yo can be knocked out, I'll sneak a blanket across him and he'll kick it right off without a blink lmao
My son LOATHED the swaddle starting in the hospital not long after he was born. It’s like he knew he could finally stretch his legs and never wanted to be constricted again.
My son was gray when he was born and my husband was positive he was dead😂 I told him to watch a birth video first! My second son had so much vernix that one eye couldn’t open and my husband thought he had only one eye. That was a home birth so it was also very dark and quiet in the room so that wasn’t helpful to him lol
My newborn daughter has the blue spot on her butt and she actually had a period a couple of weeks later bc I had too much estrogen in my body and it affected her. I didn’t even know that was a thing until I had her.
The head shape was new to me when I had my first. He looked like an alien. He got a little stuck during pushing and came out with the longest head. It quickly went down but was so surprising!
My son was out in 45 mins from the first push. His head was so perfectly round cause he spent like 5 second in the birth canal that I was worried that I did something wrong cause I knew their heads usually come out oblong 😂
I saw this on my first son a month ago and I freaked out I thought I hurt him somehow but my pediatrician assured me it was just that spot . I hope it goes away it’s definitely odd looking
My son is 4 years old and he still has them. When did your children’s go away? My newborn (2 week old) was also born with the spots exactly on the same place.
@@salma_Nella22 I’m nearly 30 and still have a Mongolian spot, though it’s significantly faded with age. Guess it depends on genetics, since my siblings still have it as adults.
both my daughters had almost identical stork bite marks on their faces, from the top of the nose up the forehead and across the left eye. I laughed way too hard when my second daughter was born and saw that she had it too, especially because they look nearly identical!
My first's head was like the one she showed when he was born and it scared me half to death that something was seriously wrong. It changed normal within a couple weeks
The movies make them seem like they are always super cute and perfect but in reality it seems they come out looking pretty weird sometimes 👀 the head shape one kinda freaks me out
Same. I was actually extremely nervous my son would have a cone head (to the point of almost preferring a c-section). Thankfully the entire process took only an hour and his head was completely round. I sighed a huge relief when I saw it was normal
For those Mongolian spots make sure to get them to document it in the chart. They can look like bruises and may concern a doctor if you take them in. You could have to have a conversation with CPS
You are giving some amazing important information. I was so surprised as a new mom how much you don’t know as a new parent. It’s almost frightening that women with little to no education or experience with a child is allowed to take a child home. And when you are home with that new child , it gets real, quickly. I will tell anyone, give your friend that is a new mom the gift of time. Come over, even if she’s saying no no, give her a little time to herself. She may want to take a shower, go out for a couple of hours. Things you can do for her laundry, dishes, vacuuming, prepare a meal or 2 for her, put fresh linens on the her bed. Bring her over a meal. For the first year of that baby’s life, be a great friend and give your friend the gift of time.
My 2nd son was Sunny side up and had shoulder dystocia. Dr had to fold him like a slice of pizza, break his collar bone and turn him over to get him out. My last son came out bruised from head to toe.

A few weeks after our youngest was born I noticed dark spots on his back and hips…thought something was really wrong with him. I thought they were bruises from his car seat. I had no clue what was going on. Take him to the doctor “silly mom those aren’t bruises those are Mongolian spots!” My husband and I are both Caucasian. So weird!
Everyone in my family has had Mongolian spots. It has a lot to do with Ancestry. People used to accuse parents of abuse because of those… glad you’re bringing awareness
I learned about Mongolian spots when I was interning at a child development center because one of the preschoolers had them. The teacher informed me so that when I took kids to the potty if I happened to see it I wouldn't think it was bruises. I was glad she did because I had a child who was born with Mongolian spots on his rear end as well. They lightened up over time and I think they pretty much disappeared before preschool age for him.
adding that it’s perfectly normal for a newborn girl to have a bit of blood in their diaper during the first week. i was so terrified when that happened and no one prepared me for it.
The first time they brought my baby to the room I said “I don’t think this is my baby”…she blankly looked at my name tag, then looked at baby’s , and said”It’s your baby”, turned around and left. She must get that a lot.😂
My grandmother did that with my biological mother lol. She looked at the baby which was a super skinny, very premature baby with straight hair that stuck out about an inch in every direction and was so blonde it was almost white lol. She said when the nurse brought her in she responded "that ain't my baby, that's the ugliest baby I have ever seen, check again" lol.
My son was born with 2 spots on his back, no one has referred to them as Mongolian Spots, just "birth mark". Even though his doctor says it will likely fade away, it's still just the same as when he was born (if anything a bit darker), he is almost 3months. His NB sneezes were the CUTEST, always when my phone was out of reach to record it. He would sneeze and then let out an big sigh as if he was annoyed by the sneeze.
My daughter is half Hispanic, half Caucasian. She was born with a Mongolian mark on her ankle and I thought it was a bruise. My nurse educated me on it. My now healthy 2 year old daughter still has it on her ankle. ♡ it's her little birth mark.
My last baby came out so fast the nurses immediately said stuff like “wow her head is so round, she didn’t even have time to get a cone shape head” 😂😂 moms iykyk
All of my babies have had Mongolian spots. I’m Asian and hubby is Hispanic. I do check with my midwives before hand though, just in case they have never come across it. I have a friend who she and her husband are Caucasian but she has some Hispanic and native back ground and one of her babies had it. They called cps on her at her baby check up. It was so traumatic for her. That was the first time she learned of it.
I caused a lot of problems for my mom when I was born. The doctor that was caring for her was not the best and the nurses were amazing. I was upside down in the birth canal so I kept hitting my head against her pelvis and came out bruised, barely breathing and with a cone head. She had a better experience with my brother but he had his umbilical cord wrapped around his shoulder

Tip #1 Avoid caesarean section at all costs!😂 I had distended bowels after all three of mine, which is absolute agony and worse than labour, because it doesn't stop! 🥴
@@ruthiebabe3638 I’m so sorry you had to go through that! @@theminiaturedonkey 😊 Mine were unavoidable too unfortunately. I was just being daft really. Unfortunately, once you have had one c section you are more likely to have another! My first boy had so much Mongolian spot I called him me cheetah boy lol also it is good to warn babysitters about this I still remember that first frantic call when she went to change his diaper and thought they were bruises she actually thought she was going to jail and could not understand because nothing happened poor girl
I was a Mongolian blue spot baby!! The doctors actually thought it was bruising and were suspicious she was abusing her baby before they realized. My mom is Caucasian (eastern European) and my dad is Puerto Rican. I have fair skin. My half brothers from the same mom also had them and theyre more dark
I was born with a cone shaped head since the doctors wouldn't allow my first-time mother to stand or move around, so she wasn't progressing laying on her back. They ended up pulling out a suction vacuum machine and plungered me out, which coned my head. Born with a plunger on my head with a little pyramid noggin lol. My mom waited much longer before going to the hospital for the next few kids so she could pace around and avoid just sitting there again. For my brother she decided to walk as far as she could down the street until she couldn't any longer, then she walked all the way back and hopped into the car with my waiting father and had a much better delivery. The sister she was induced for but it went better cause she liked that doctor. So much so she planned the induction a few days early so she could avoid him going on a ski trip over her due date.
One thing I did not know that happened with my daughter is newborn girls can actually menstruate the first few days after birth. It's from the mom's hormones. I was scared when I saw blood in her diaper. Rushed her to the ER to be told it's common.
@@sandral8318 I didn't either. But you can look it up. I wish I knew that because the amount of panic I experienced was unnecessary simply because no one ever told me that was a thing.
@@sandral8318 An incredibly unsettling sight is blood in your newborn's diaper, but before you panic, know that estrogen levels increase during pregnancy-and this increase impacts your baby in different ways. Light, minimal spotting may occur. Within the first few days, it's not uncommon for some babies to have a mini period, in which the uterus sheds a little blood.
@@sandral8318 It's not every baby girl, hormones act differently on everyone, but it's like 25 percent. Same with lactation, which can actually happen with boys too.
So glad you are talking about these things. I am mixed race and my husband is white. Our daughter came out very far skinned, basically she looks mostly white, with green eyes and light brown hair. Which surprised me. Our son came out very white as well but, he looked bruised on his butt, feet and arms when he was brought to me. I was worried someone had handled him too rough or maybe I had hurt him while he was in my belly somehow. I finally asked and the nurse, she said it was Mongolian spots. My son looks like me and my daughter looks like my husband. Genetics are crazy.
I’m movies newborns are always actually at least a month old of not a lot older so they never look as strange as they really do when they come fresh out the womb 😂
The first thing I thought of after seeing the one about lack of circulation to the hands or feet was “just shake the baby up and it’ll get the blood circulating everywhere it needs to real quick” 💀 Maybe not the best idea-
Oh wow, fun facts! My baby has that Mongolian Spot on her upper tushy! I was scared at first when I saw it, but the nurses told me that it was a birthmark.
Can you make a video about cholestasis? I'm waiting in test results for it, but had no clue it was a thing. If I hadn't googled my symptoms, I would have never known to talk to my Dr about the itching!

See they tried saying that the sneezing was a sign of withdrawals I had to be on medication that I've been on for many years for recovering as a past addict and luckily most of the nurses knew what they were doing while scoring but some don't honestly this one kind older nurse she had no clue and accidentally scored her high ❤ thanks for clarifying sneezing is normal❤

I’m my bio parents’ first born. They thought I was going to be a boy up until I was born, and for my dad a little later than that. Mom says I was so swollen that the doctor lifted me up, Dad said “whoo that’s my boy!”, and the doctor had to say “…sir, it’s a girl” lmao
It's so weird that your dad was proud of your genitals at birth..
Me too! that’s so funny 😂
LOL SYOP
@Strwberriebabyy how wtf ???
@@bonk7779probably bc he cheered over the size of his kid’s genitals
Some also have mongolian spots just like southern european, I had a friend joking around telling it must have been all the previous invasions centuries ago from central Asia saying hi 😆
Anyway genetics are kinda funny and newborns are just so full of surprise !❤
@@pookpook3891 I'm not sure ay, I'm doing the ancestory tree and Ireland keeps popping up 97% of the time, America and Australia. I should by the end of this month be getting my DNA sample results as well as my husband. My family made it harder to know our past by refusing to give me information about family members, I had to facebook search family members i did know to find others that I didn't lol. My whole birth mothers side I had no information at all except my mothers name. And I have 0% information on my father's father information
My daughter sneezed so much and had a stuffy nose when she was born. I thought for sure she had a cold or something. But they assured me it’s normal.
My son sneezed as soon as he was out. It was adorable and everyone in the OR laughed. 😊
All the nurses kept saying, "Babies love being swaddled." Then wrap my son up. He would start kicking and jiggling out of it.
@E E My son is 24 and the same way. When he was little, I would cover him up, and he would kick off the blanket
My daughter too
My son LOATHED the swaddle starting in the hospital not long after he was born. It’s like he knew he could finally stretch his legs and never wanted to be constricted again.
Same. I kept feeling I was doing something wrong but she even hates sleep sacks because of the leg restriction. Just zero swaddling, lots of cuddling.
He... He didn't really learn about pregnancy or birth no?😅
No he did not😂
Aww lol
My newborn daughter has the blue spot on her butt and she actually had a period a couple of weeks later bc I had too much estrogen in my body and it affected her. I didn’t even know that was a thing until I had her.
I only recently learned from this channel that baby girls can have a "false period." Really fascinating stuff :o
The head shape was new to me when I had my first. He looked like an alien. He got a little stuck during pushing and came out with the longest head. It quickly went down but was so surprising!
Fr when my daughter came out her head was so long in the back she couldn’t wear hats for awhile 😅
My son was out in 45 mins from the first push. His head was so perfectly round cause he spent like 5 second in the birth canal that I was worried that I did something wrong cause I knew their heads usually come out oblong 😂
All three of my boys were born with Mongolian spots on their lower back. They all went away .❤
@@whatthehecktye oh wow so there’s no telling. They’re huge and the spots are right on both their butts 😂
both my daughters had almost identical stork bite marks on their faces, from the top of the nose up the forehead and across the left eye. I laughed way too hard when my second daughter was born and saw that she had it too, especially because they look nearly identical!
Thank you I just had my baby yesterday ❤🎉

Congratulations! 🎉🤱
Congratulations!! I bet the baby is a bundle of joy!! ❤
Congratulations 🎉
When I was younger my parents joked from time to time that my brother had a "megamind head" when he was born lol
I still tease him about it 😂❤
You are giving some amazing important information.
Ahhhhh! Im so sorry that happened. I hope that he's okay now
@@Rachel.160 awww thank you that's so sweet. He's actually 21 now. He was just a big baby and got stuck. He was already in the birth canal so they couldn't do a C-section. When they break it like that they just make you pin their arm to the chest until it heals cuz there's really nothing they can do.
@@Shay-cw5dr should've thrown away that baby like a trash piece of pizza. Right into the garbage compactor. Lmao. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

i was born with a Mongolian blue spot in the inner corner of my eye. my parents didn’t care, i was a healthy baby, but my grandma was mortified by the fact that i had a facial birthmark.
i find it funny that the doctors reassured her that it would fade, but now i’m in college and it’s still on my face lolll
My son has a Mongolia birthmark on his arm and the teacher thought it was a bruise and called CPS. The CPS lady and I just kind of laughed and said well at least the teacher is going her job and is looking out for my son
Thank you for bringing awareness about Mongolian spots/birthmarks! People always assume my kids have bruises on them 🤦🏻♀️
A few weeks after our youngest was born I noticed dark spots on his back and hips…thought something was really wrong with him.
My whole life I was scared to have kids and now because of you I can wait to have kids ❤❤❤❤
The Mongolian spots need to be mentioned to new caretakers.
Yeah they always think babies were abused by their parents when they never predicted their baby to be born with it.
Thank you for helping me relearn some things! Grandma here here in 18 days! I love sharing with my daughter!! ❤
Cant believe you added the Mongolian Spot, that's so cool. I didnt think you'd mention it
My daughter is half Hispanic, half Caucasian. She was born with a Mongolian mark on her ankle and I thought it was a bruise. My nurse educated me on it. My now healthy 2 year old daughter still has it on her ankle. ♡ it's her little birth mark.
My daughter has one on her ankle, too :) she loves it because blue is her favorite color 💕
My daughter had swollen genitals. I was like hold up!! 😂
I’ve heard about the cone heads and I’ve always found that super fascinating how baby’s skull form
I’m a first time mom and when I changed my baby’s diaper for the first time….. I was so confused at the color and texture of the 💩 I thought something was wrong 🥲
My husband freaked out and went running out to the nurses station. I couldn't do anything because I was fresh out of a c-section. 😂
Thank you! I was wondering why my little guy keeps sneezing lol forsure thought I cursed him with allergies.
The swollen labia on my daughter shocked me. Nurse kindly explained it was normal thankfully. Only unexpected thing that happened with her.
Hey Anna, can you please made a short of best tips for recovery after a c section? ❤
Tip #1 Avoid caesarean section at all costs!😂
I had distended bowels after all three of mine, which is absolute agony and worse than labour, because it doesn't stop! 🥴
@@ruthiebabe3638 I’m so sorry you had to go through that! But mine was unavoidable, it was an emergency c-section due to fetal distress (my baby girl is a small preemie but growing well and doing okay), and so far the recovery is going well. However I never experienced labour pains! If I were to have another in a few years…I don’t think I’ll be prepared for a vaginal birth 😅
@@theminiaturedonkey 😊
Mine were unavoidable too unfortunately.
I was just being daft really. Unfortunately, once you have had one c section you are more likely to have another! Glad your little girl is doing well.😊
They used to tell you to avoid getting pregnant for a year after to give the scar time to heal. They didn't tell me that for some reason, possibly negligence but I don't know.
Hope you recover well and soon.😁
@@ruthiebabe3638 "more likely than not" statement is fortunately changing, although it's discouraged by doctors not because of pregnant woman's health and safety, it's just because doctors don't want to deal with it and don't know how to deal with it - my friend had a vaginal birth after c-section and doctor (due to her negliegence) used a technique that's literally forbidden to use in such cases - not to mention it was completely not necessary!
My friend was ok and she's going to be birthing naturally next time (unless it's an emergency like with the 1st kid).
@@theminiaturedonkey I had 5 cesareans- and I was fine...... absolutely fine. Wasn't until after I got my tubes tied that everything went wrong. And I do mean everything. I've had alot of pain after it. I wish I could give you some tips- but honey- cesareans pretty much just suck all the way around. 🤣 lol I'm glad your baby is OK.... I had a preemie too, just once. I had her at 7 months... she was 7lbs tho, so she'd of been big like my others, if I'd of went full term......... oh!!!! And you DONT want to go into labor. 🤣🤣 I had cesareans, yes, but I did go in to labor, 3 different times- it HURTS. that epidural, my god. The relief. Ohhhh the relief.

Another fun fact. Baby’s can leak breast milk or even bleed from there “lady” do to hormone… my daughter leaked breast milk and they way I panic calling our doctor who told me it’s normal and gave me the heads up to no worry if I notice some bleeding lucky we didn’t experience that.
Yesss.. I did not know about the swollen genitals until I had my daughter I was so scared at first! Lol
Same! She also had vaginial discharge and I freaked out a little.
Babies are cute.
My literal first words when seeing my first son were “look at the size of those nuts”. straight up word vomit.
Nobody warned me and I was shook! I swear they were the size of a baseball and I even remember asking the nurse if they’d shrink!
LMFAO!!!
I had Mongolian Spots on my wrists. My mom said I came out holding my own hands so she assumed it was bc of that lmao
It’s always an interesting experience when someone sees a newborn that has a conehead (iconic movie btw) for the first time and witness their shock.
One of the things my mother always says when she talks about birthing me is that I was born with a perfectly shaped head. Idk how that happened, but I feel lucky.
Girl you answered a deeply repressed memory I have of seeing a video of my male cousin’s birth and his very frightening genitalia.
The sneezing had me worried with my 1st born lol I get to see my 2nd newborn in 2 months! 😱 I'm so excited ahhh
I’m going back nearly 40 years, but when my oldest daughter was born I was shocked at the length of her fingernails.
Thank you for all your very informative videos ❤️
Baby girls also get a period too so don’t be alarmed if you see this it’s completely normal
The head on that last one . . . God damn😳
One thing I did not know that happened with my daughter is newborn girls can actually menstruate the first few days after birth. It's from the mom's hormones. I was scared when I saw blood in her diaper. Rushed her to the ER to be told it's common.
Wow I had no idea this was a possibility
@@sandral8318 I didn't either. But you can look it up. I wish I knew that because the amount of panic I experienced was unnecessary simply because no one ever told me that was a thing.
@@sandral8318 An incredibly unsettling sight is blood in your newborn's diaper, but before you panic, know that estrogen levels increase during pregnancy-and this increase impacts your baby in different ways. Light, minimal spotting may occur. Within the first few days, it's not uncommon for some babies to have a mini period, in which the uterus sheds a little blood.
@@kristingallo2158 I can imagine, so sorry you had to learn that on your own. I'm having a baby boy but will keep this in mind if I ever have a girl
@@sandral8318 It's not every baby girl, hormones act differently on everyone, but it's like 25 percent. Same with lactation, which can actually happen with boys too.
I'm in my ob class right now and LOVING CLINICAL ❤ Ilove all the birth and baby things
I had never heard of them but, after a few weeks my son got darker, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. His spots faded a lot, though he still has them. My son looks like me and my daughter looks like my husband. Genetics are crazy.
I’m movies newborns are always actually at least a month old of not a lot older so they never look as strange as they really do when they come fresh out the womb 😂
I am 12 weeks with my first baby and I am so excited ❤
My baby looked like a bloody zombie when he was cut out 😂 it took like 30 min for his grey color to leave. He has the spots on his butt too
The first thing I thought of after seeing the one about lack of circulation to the hands or feet was “just shake the baby up and it’ll get the blood circulating everywhere it needs to real quick” 💀
Maybe not the best idea-
Oh wow, fun facts!
I had it right before delivering
When my daughter was born at 30 weeks and my husband was unsure if she was a girl, as everything was swollen
My sister and I were both born purple apparently, but since we have a 10-year age gap my dad forgot and thought that my sister was ill (not dead bc she was thrashing around lmao) when she was born
My kids both have the Mongolian spots on their lower back/bottoms. They are half Filipino.
I was born with "Mongolian spots" all over my back and right hip, and as a child I never noticed them until I fell once and went to look at where I hit and it was all dark purple and black I freaked out until My mom told me that's always been there lmao as I grew up they expanded and lost a bit of color and even shifted, but nonetheless they're still there and I love looking at them .. kinda remind me of islands in the ocean ❤
See they tried saying that the sneezing was a sign of withdrawals I had to be on medication that I've been on for many years for recovering as a past addict and luckily most of the nurses knew what they were doing while scoring but some don't honestly this one kind older nurse she had no clue and accidentally scored her high ❤ thanks for clarifying sneezing is normal❤
one of my sister's kids was born emergency c-section since their head was too big to pass through her pelvis. their poor little head had an imprint in the top and you could tell where my sister's pelvis wasn't gonna let them pass lmao.

When my baby came out she was sneezing a lot I thought she might have caught a cold but now I know why!! 😁
My babes have the blue birthmarks and the doctor held them up and said “ladies and gentlemen we are in the presence of royalty”
My first daughter had engorged breast tissue, and leaked a milky fluid. She also has a period 5 days after birth, im a nurse and never new these things. No one talks about it either... has to do with mom's hormones leaving babies body.
My Son was blue at birth; his first APGAR was a 2, but second was a 7! We were relieved.
My niece was born with a straight up cone head. It rounded out in like an hour, but I couldn’t stop laughing. I didn’t realize how dramatically the head shape could change lmao

I laughed so hard about the last one. Cause yes they can😂 my first born had been to lang in my birthong canal and had a mega bulb on his head
Don't forget some babies produce breast milk, I called my doctor freaking out but its normal.
Also stork bites!!
I work with children and the first time I saw birthmarks like that, I’m sad to say that I suspected abuse. I knew the family well, having taken care of the older siblings before. I was very conflicted about what to do. I’m so glad that I was able to be educated before I did some thing drastic.
I still have my birthmark on my back, it’s faint but I still get people asking me how I got my huge bruise 💀
