All the babies’ mouths and eyes are searching for the the mother’s nipple as the natural first instinct within half hour of the birth! Observe their mouths, lips and tongue and eyes! When they don’t feel the nipple, they cry with frustration and try to suck on their fingers! All the Neonatal staff across the world should be aware of this! All the mammalian newborns can sense the smell of their mothers’ nipple secretions soon after the birth! Due to this instinct the calves, puppies, cubs and other newborn mammals can locate their mother’s’ nipples and have their first feeding right away! As soon as the vital signs are checked and cleared, please cover the baby’s back and head (some babies are literally shaking because of the cold hospital rooms in contrast to the mother’s womb!) of the baby as soon as possible! Cover the back and head of the baby lay his/her naked torso on the bare mother’s chest. (Within the first 20 minutes after the birth. The cleaning, measuring, bathing and dressing can wait after the first feeding! ) Amazingly the baby will recognize the mother’s nipple and try to scoot ( just after a few minutes after the birth) feels the nipple and feeds on its own which is a miraculous sight and experience to remember for ever! Also please dim the lights or use some kind of cover for babies’ eyes from severe bright lights (imagine what a torture for those little eyes which were in pitch dark until the birth.) I think all the Neonatal staff and care takers should think about these necessary procedures and give the babies some much needed care soon after the birth! Remember that the Baby also goes through severe trauma in birth! Please handle them with care! Thank you ❤❤🎉🎉😊😊
