The Final Solution - The Holocaust - Sabaton History 083 [Official]

- Since Adolf Hitler's rise to power, the Jews of Germany had suffered years of harsh anti-Jewish policies, harassment and public humiliation. The Nazis wanted the Jews to never feel safe or welcome again. With the Third Reich's expansion and the start of the Second World War, more and more European Jews fell victim to persecution, ghettoisation and violence.
It was hard to imagine that the crimes against them could get any worse. But by December 1941, the Nazis began preparing for a "Final Solution of the Jewish question".
It aimed at nothing less than the extermination of all Jewish life in Europe.

"The camp killed too fast to hide its purpose"
Jesus...thats...i cant even comprehend that
Yeah, at the "4600 people per day" quote I had to stop the video and just collect myself for a moment. That was a hell of a figure to try to wrap my head around.
Then don't look up Treblinka.
@@cookingonthecheapcheap6921 Dude, Treblinka was fucked. There are no survivors left.
no decent human can so you're not alone in that.
@@cookingonthecheapcheap6921 The camp he was speaking about? Struggling to see what your point is here.
And still, there are someones who say that Final Solution is offensive, antisemitic and pro-nazi song made just for profit, meanwhile Sabaton did a masterpiece which pays homage to victims of unimaginable oppression wanting to remind everyone of crime that humankind is sometimes capable of doing, contrary to deniers who want to hide it under a rock.
So great job and massive balls for making songs about such controversial topics, keep up the good work ;)
Some people want to see the world burn
These people should listen to the lyrics.. nothing glorifying in this song
There's people that claim the rise of evil is pro-Hitler. Even ignoring the lyrics the name of the song is literally the rise of evil. People are idiots
I believe that those people don't understand well english language (and we can't blame for that) but they are so damn stupid that they didn't look for the lyrics or translation of these. But we can't do to much against them sadly... But thums up for the whole Sabaton squad (band, previous members who played this one, Indy's team as well...)
It's the idiots that see nazi anything and assume it's pro unless a giant red stamp says nazis bad (like the stupid videogame video that thinks playing as german soldiers in a ww2 game will make you a nazi through osmosis). No different to Rammstein catching flack for Deutschland because of the camp scene, ignoring the lyrics and that the camp prisoners shoot the band members dressed as nazis
I asked my father once "How's Grandpa, with today being Holocaust Memorial Day?"
He answered: "The same. For them, every day is Holocaust Memorial Day"

Profound statement of truth that cuts deep into any heart with empathy and compassion. One cannot wrap your head around this level of deep dark evil much less experience it. It is a life sentence of terror memories which could never leave your mind. Very few of the perpetrators were at the Nuremberg trials. The offspring of this mentality walk among us. This is the mindset they grew up with.
I also think of the "little" they have done to teach society how we can help troops with the inevitable PTSD they return with. How many homeless drug addicts are actually suffering from PTSD.
When they took God and prayer out of the public schools and 10 Commandments out of public spaces, the Communist fascist dictators won the first step in destroying our country from the inside. 1963.

This song is one of the most chilling songs I have ever listened to. And at times even brought tears to my eyes.
I mostly listen to music semi passively ( ie I can recite lyrics but really never focus on the meaning).
One day I was listening to this song when it dawned on me that this was a more serious song, I relistened to the song and read the lyrics and by the last drumbeat I was crying rivers.
The depths that humanity can sink to are deep, so so deep... I hope nobody ever sees this history as their reality again... lest we forget
The song hits you harder when you see them live and they perform it

Every time i listen to this song i just lie down and cry for a while. I feel so lucky i was born the time i was, as an LGBT person i know that if i was born in the same place and the same time just a few decades earlier i would have been one among millions pushed into those chambers.
I am glad sabaton makes songs about these events, so the horror can be remembered so it will never ever be repeated again!
As good as the song is, it is almost impossible to listen to, but absolutely necessary. You can learn and retain more history from a Sabaton song or album than from any history class.

Sabaton dont sing to glorify events. They sing to remember them.
Forgetting about the past will cause that certain events will repeat in the Future.
I like the fact that Sabaton as example keep our History Alive and somewhat Documented to remind the Generations after us what can happen.
Sad that there are people who want to erase history all together so they have more control over everything. Hitler was a evil man and they worship his ideology.

One of the worst displays of what humans can do. Unfortunately, it's not the only case of something this disgusting, horrifying and evil.
Sadly the recipe is quite simple : censor opposite views so that you can say lies without opposition, and make propaganda blaming a group for everything, to create resentment among the population. And I want to know why it is that I am a certain sort of -ist because I listen to this song. Because by telling the story, you don't forget it.
With this, Sabaton showed respect to the victims of this atrocity. It's more what you can say compared to the ones at TikTok.

I totally agree with Pär - no matter how many you have read or watched about Auschwitz-Birkenau, when you go there the horror is beyond your imagination. I have exactly the same experience as him, when I was in Oswiecim for the second time - I left my friends in front of the concentration camp and go somewhere else in the city. I couldn't bear it for the second time.
I went to the Struthof camp in the Vosges mountain once. Although being "only" a concentration camp and not an extermination one, it's terrifying.
I have heard that there are very few places that produce that feeling in the world, another from a friend who has visited both is the Cambodian 'killing fields'.

The acoustic version of this song I got to hear live on a show in Stockholm is simply beautiful. I wish for a release of said version on Spotify
I heard it at my place as well, three years ago. That was the biggest memory that I got from that concert.
This is something that is horrible and inhumane cruelty beyond belief that must not never be repeated. To do that, despite how awful it is, this must be preserved so everyone can learn from this. Holocaust deniers can deny all they want, but they must never have their way and their claims must be rendered irrelevant because to deny this is to deny history and for this to be repeated.
The song itself is good, but it quite depressing, sombering, sinister, and ominous. The song may not be fun, but still good in a dark way, but must be remembered. All generations must learn from this. It is our responsibility and to have every right to resist such inhumane cruelty from happening again as well as anything that mirrors it. As what the Israelis say, "never again".
You say that but it was happening again in Bosnia during the 90s. Unfortunately people do not learn history.
@Shinku Kiroto Ichika Well said.
its happening in China right now.
sadly as technology advances, such things are to be repeated again and again. I mean, the US dropped 2 nukes, killing 200 thousands people, most of them were civilians, just one year after the discovery of the camps.
not to mention, with the globalization of the economy and trading, it is pretty much impossible to punish countries that commit such actions, if said countries are the big and rich ones. So things like Geneva Convention, or the UN, WTO, pretty much became useless and only applies to the weak and small nations.
it's a sad world, but us human has been the same since forever. The more technology advances, the worse and quicker way we can kill our own kind.
My grand-grandma has been in Terezin concentration camp, being labeled as "communist" for being in KSČ - Communist party of Czechoslovakia. The strongest moment she remembered in her life, were soviet soldiers in 1945 giving them food. Normal soup after years locked in concentration camp...
When he said “it killed too fast”
I cant even explain how I felt
"That such a man could go so far toward realizing his ambitions, and -- above all -- could find millions of willing tools and helpers; that is a phenomenon the world will ponder for centuries to come."
When I read about this in European history as a kid, it felt so unreal that how can such atrocity be done by humanity. It was a really dark revelation of how far humanity can go. Truth is the strangest form of fiction, in which it can and will exceed your expectations.

I love that Sabaton made this song. It is haunting and terrible and somewhere there is a dark beauty in it. And then comes the sheer power of the lyrics.
I know they do not like to play this live but listening to this, seeing a crowd of utterly silent people stand with lighters or at attention is... just amazing.
Total respect for Indy continuing on when he’s put to tears
honestly, this and Rise of Evil are one of my favourite sobering Sabaton songs. Both carry a really powerful message.
First time I saw the title to this song I thought nah they couldn’t of had written a song about what I’m thinking of. When Joakim said those words “Enter the gates Auschwitz awaits” my heart sunk and I got the biggest chill down my spine and I got goosebumps all over. The power behind this song is so great that it’s one of those songs that you listen to and it does change you a bit. This episode I knew was going to be heavy and it was. We can never allow History to repeat itself. We just can’t
First time I heard it was when I first started listening to Sabaton and had their station playing on I can't remember, Pandora or something, I was messing around on the computer, and kind of grooving to it, then "ENTER THE GATES, AUSCHWITZ AWAITS!!" happened. I too got the chill down my spine and sat there dumbstruck thinking 'Holy shit dude.' A great-powerful song, about such a horrible thing.

As a American jew I have mixed feelings about this song. I have the feeling of anger over the topic remembering my grandparents tell us about their time in the camps. How over 80% of our family never made it out. I also have much gratitude to yall for writing the song because this is something that needs to be remembered and honored. Something we as a world should never forget. So from the bottom of my heart thank you for yalls dedication to sharing our history no matter how dark it is.
Just this week I read on the news that a big percentage of American teens don't know about the Holocaust, or don't believe it happened. We need songs like this, and we need people like Indy and the guys from Sabaton, who don't take a political stand and tell history how it happened to prevent us from forgetting and, hopefully, avoid making the same mistakes again
Dark dark times in history need to be talked about so they are never repeated but people are starting to forget cause people dont want to learn about it at all thank you sabaton for keeping history alive

Best episode so far. He who does not learn history, is doomed to repeat it. Thank you Indy, Sabaton and the whole crew for popularizing history without bias or agenda.
I have a story about his. I have a playlist on my phone, called "The best of Sabaton" featuring my favourite Sabaton songs which I listen to on the bus in the morning when I'm going in for work. "Final Solution" is not on that playlist.
But in my opinion, "Final Solution" is the best Sabaton song. It's not one I want to listen to very often. I only listen to this song about once a month, usually after I watch some documentary or a War Against humanity episode. It helps me remember.
It's not a cool song. It's not inspiring. It doesn't make me happy.
But it makes it all feel real. It reminds me that these things really happened. So that's why I listen to it, when I need to. Thank you Sabaton, for helping me, for helping us all, remember.
I find the line "lost to the world" especially touching in this song. The entire song is very emotional of course, but I think this line cries out how we, the world after the Holocaust, miss its victims. This may not be as real as it was right after the end of the war, with a lot of people remembering specific victims, but you can still imagine the real loss of humans because of this line. This line is so good because it does not just remember the horror, it remembers the people.
Society today should really and seriously heed the warning of the depths of human despair, evil, and torment one can inflict on the many. Sobering moment every time I listen to it. Well done guys! History isn’t a rose garden.
If anyone of you haven´t watched it yet (or just want to remember it), search for the 9th epizode (out of 10) of the one of the greatest series of all times - Band of Brothers. Its name is "Why We Fight" and it containes a brilliant depiction of liberating something, that (not only) US soldiers must have gone through, when they were freeding such camps.
Starting with the scene when a soldier sprinting through the forest in horror, reaching for commanding officer and when finally finding him, still not able to say a word in a terror and when asked "what have you found? Speak." he simply replies with tears in his eyes "I ... I don´t know..." and lead them all back to site...
...find it and watch, it is really strong part, and even stronger after you know main characters for 8 episodes so far, what they all have seen and been through, and still are overwhelmed with such atrocities.
I know I'm a little late (a year holy damn) but I actually own the series on DVD and watch it from time to time and everytime I reach that episode I need to take a deep breath before going into it and I get goosebumps every single time. You can really see the emotion in both you guys in this video. Its a powerful subject, but as you say; its important to tell these story to educate and hope that nothing like this can ever happen again.
It is a very heavy topic. But we need to recognize this happened. Millions upon millions of lives were ended. Especially in times like we are seeing today in the US.... hate groups torching cities, many injustices happening. We need to remember what happened in the past so we do not repeat it.
I've always felt this is one of the best songs that sabaton made. Its very dark as the events truly were. The subject should never be forgotten and bands who make songs like this one help make that possible. This song gives me chills every time I hear it.
I have heard this song so many times and it still makes me cry sometimes when I am not prepared for it.
I am pretty sure Indy was crying at the end of his part. Don't worry we all were.
I watched his Great War channel, he got pretty emotional during the Armenian Genocide too. Any decent human being would.
The only thing I've ever heard Sabaton glorify about war, are the acts that save lives not take them. F#$k those haters, keep them coming guys. You rock Indy.
This, the cliffs of Gallipoli and the price of a mile I think are the saddest sabaton songs but they pay respect to what do many had been through.
When the chorus hit after Indy finished, I got chills
The first time I've ever listed to Sabaton was when they opened for Kreator. They played this song during their short show, I didn't really know how to feel about it at first since I am German. But listening to it more and reading about the story behind the song really got to me and actually got me to listen to more Sabaton.

I actually saw many Holocaust related documentaries in the past 2-3 weeks, by coincidence (War Against Humanity, or just by YT recommendation).
I might think I am desensitized by now, but again I see the video footages of these people in this Sabaton History episode and think "gosh these people did not made it out alive"... And start to cry.
I think one can never look at these video footages without at least a shiver down the spine.
I really appreciate that Sabaton makes songs about important historical events, both good and bad. The songs and these videos are helping teach new generations about parts of history that seem to either be glossed over, or not mention in history classes today.
This is an absolutely chilling episode. The whole song and experience of the music is truly horrific, but I'm glad to experience it, it's definitely an important feeling to understand
28 years ago I went to Dachau, and I can still remember the smell of the buildings.
I went on a guided visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau yesterday, and it was so difficult to do. Walking though the blocks and just thinking about the horrors they went though. When I ended the tour I felt sick.
pitrson ' I know, my mother started crying when she sore the hair and kid’s shoes. It’s one thing to look at photos and films of it but to stand there and look at the places were millions of innocent people were killed is something else, it’s like all the joy and happiness lives you.
First ever time I heard this song i cried......I was speechless, of how powerful this and many other songs from Sabaton there a great band just a huge amount of respect for them
hi, thank you all so mutch for making these episodes, they're allways interesting or important to remember and i love the music :) i like how you guys really let it show how this dark part of history make you feel, youre stars and rolemodels to so much ppl and its so many that need to find that its ok to feel this. you tell the history in a great way, both in the songs and on this chanel :) personaly i don't understand this with controversial topics for theese things, f*ck they should've thought of that when they commited the crimes.. historybooks, conversations or sabaton songs - its just telling the story, stories we must never forget.
as a jewish person, i really appreciate you making this song. thank you sabaton.
The fact that some people deny this is infuriating!
and illegal, i mean wood doors and other made up no-scene , i can't believe that people are still anti-Semitic in 2020, just shocking.
I personally just don't understand why people even deny it in the first place. What do they get out of it?
Probably the same crowd that thinks the earth is flat. So that should tell you what kind of mental caliber they have.
well, it is hard to wrap your head around, isn't it?
This song...it always brings a tear to my eyes without fail... the raw emotions that it brings to the surface with every listen...a solemn reminder of a time that must never be repeated...we must never forget
This song can still bring tears to my eyes, it's tragically beautiful and a worthy tribute commemorating those that needlessly lost their lives. I am eternally grateful to Sabaton for writing this song. Indy and Spartacus have always handled the topic with reverence, which means more than you can know. Thank you, guys. And Never Forget.
Nothing in the world can prepare you for the unspeakable horrors that took place during this dark time in history. It's unthinkable that there are people who deny this ever happened.
Thank you, Sabaton and Indy, for continuing to educate us, so that these mistakes of the past may NEVER be repeated!!!
**takes a moment of silence for those who were lost**
and those still effected today.
I heard that if we took a moment for everyone lost in this, we'd be silent for 11 years.
shortest moment of silence in human history
Every time I hear this song, I think about my visit to Dachau and this is one of the few Sabaton songs that can just about bring me to tears thinking about the subject, especially when paired with the visuals from this video.
This conversation and the reason behind why one should appreciate Sabaton for keeping history alive and for presenting it without bias, reminded me of a part of V's speech from "V for Vendetta": "But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the idea, not the man, because a man can fail. He can be caught, he can be killed and forgotten, but 400 years later, an idea can still change the world. I've witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I've seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them..."
This was presented in that scene as a good aspect but, at the same time, it shows that history can come back and bite, if you even intend on forgetting it!
This was a very sad yet informative video. It brought up new information that I didn't know. For a while I thought it was just Hitler blaming the Jewish for WW1, but now I see how it was more than just that. Keep it up and keep bringing us more information about the history of our race!
I think it was rather personal for Hitler: since a Jewish doctor failed to save his sick mother on her deathbed.
What made it worse was the Communist revolution in Germany in which the leaders were Jews.
this is one of my favorite song of Sabaton among Bismarck , Wehrmacht and Ghost Division. Greetings from Philippines 🇵🇭
Wow bihira ang pinoy na Sabaton fan
i like military history bro. metal band + history = SABATON 💪
The Final Solution is one of the few Sabaton songs that can actually make me tear up.
This is a very heavy topic, and the song hits me everytime I listen to it. I cry everytime. Humanity can be dark as hell sometimes
Thank you!
Did anyone else expected Spartacus to replace Indy for this episode ?
Well, it is normally his territory.
I was thinking it'd happen.
this song always brings tears, i remember back in 2006 my Junior year of high school, the band had a trip over to Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia (now Czechia) 2 of the biggest memories i have from the trip is one playing with a soccer ball in the middle of Prague with people from all over Europe on the plaza in front of the astronomical clock. the other was are trip to the Mauthausen Concentration camp. Just like Par if you ever get a chance to visit one of these places please do. it might be heavy and you will be over come with emotions, but you need to at least once. To read about it, to watch film on it, to listening to are favorite band sing about something so heavy, but to see one of these camps it will be burnt into your mind forever. Thank you Sabaton for making this song and thank you to everyone who works on the channel for making this video. never again but never forgotten.
This is such a terrifying topic but its so important to educate the people about whats happend and to show what people are not only able to do but actually did and still do.
I went to the KZ Buchenwald with my schoolclass when I was 16 and I felt so sick the whole time there and afterwards. But I'm also really glad my teacher organised this because I think it is an expirience that everyone should make.
I also really want to thank Sabaton for taking part in educating us in the way you do. Because you give us this important knowledge but you combine it with a lot of fun, good music and a great feeling for a fan, to be part of this. And I think this is a good way to provide these informations because maybe some people having difficulties to accept these facts rather accept from someone they know they can also have joy with.
What an extremely sobering episode. Not too sound sick or anything, but I quite enjoyed it and am glad that you guys did this one. History like this cannot be pushed to the side.
I literally cannot imagine a place where it is unbearable to visit a second time. I thought the Holocaust museum in D.C. was bad. I cant fathom what's it's like to actually be there.
I will never forget.
thanks indy for sending me here. I only support timeghost on patreon. This video is informative!
thanks for the free gift
Thank you for this episode. Gives me goosebumps. Lest we forget🕯 🖤
Thanks a lot for watching, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Ive been waiting for this! Quite sad but intresting
A great episode, though I must confess that some of the imagery made me physically ill, and happy that I hadn't eaten yet. I had the same reaction when visiting Fort Breendonk. Such horror and inhumanity. We should never forget, lest we repeat such heinous acts.
The couple hours I spent at Dachau in the Summer of 1980 are etched in my memory forever and I get a little emotional every time my mind brings it up.
I know there will be a lot of people sharing their experiences in the comments here, but I feel like I should give my own two cents.
My dad is the son of a Survivor. His father was a Romanian Jew who spent the rest of his life never uncovering his arms as he hid the number there. He passed away a few years before I saw my first Sabaton concert, but when my dad and I saw this song performed live it was more than moving for both of us, especially my dad.
To the entire band, thank you for covering this topic which needs to be remembered. Thank you for not backing down on it. And most importantly, thank you for still playing it live. From a Jewish family who loves your music, seeing that song live and being in that crowd when you did will forever be in my mind.
I've seen this song live in Amsterdam the acoustic version, then the song is even stronger, I hope you guys record an acoustic version
