    Summer Madness takes me back to riding home from work at around 11:55 pm and this song would come on Alan Almond’s pillow talk radio program as his final song every night. Always loved this tune

    So many rockers love to hate on disco. But I never disliked it. It’s fun it’s high energy. And it’s ALL about the beat. It never pretended to be anything other that that And when you loved to dance like I did. It was perfect.

    Love Kool & The Gang-Ladies Night is one of my faves. And love your backdrop, always. Now I remember-Open Sesame was playing during one of the dance-off contests they had in the film. I didn't know this was Kool until now.

      Hello again.. Glad you love Kool...LN is great, as is Fresh! Thanks for the backdrop compliment. Makes sense about where they used the song in the film. Thanks so much for watching!

      Open Sesame is more representative of Kool than Ladies Night as Kool and the Gang started out as more of a Jazz influenced funk band. Ladies Night occurred in their second phase which was less jazz and all
      pop due to the influence of easy listening creator and producer, Emuir Deodado. Although they found much more commercial success, they suppressed their musical genius to appeal to a crossover audience.
      The album , Light of Worlds, includes summer madness but is an absolute amazing album. Check out Street Corner Symphony and Ronald Bell's Coltrane-esque saxophone solo.
      Check out the full house of blues concert. Here, you can see their true musicianship, something hidden in their 80's albums.

    Mi piacciono molto quei gruppi talvolta numerosi che nella seconda metà degli anni '70 con il loro stile disco con sonorità jazz , jive, funky ecc...animavano le serate danzanti in America e in Europa ...Barry White and The Love Unlimited Orchestra , Trammps, Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire ,K.C.and the Sunshine band, Village People, Commodores, Chic e molti altri ancora 🔝🔝🔝

    What is this????? It’s Genesis Sunday! What a COMPLETE surprise. Will we see a third?? Lol. Hadn’t listened to “Open Sesame” in years. Always love a good horn section, as I played trumpet many years ago. I loved the vibe on “Summer Madness”….could’ve kept going even longer.

      Don't push it bud! 😂🤣 Guess I just felt I'd ignored Kool long enough. Glad you like Kool & The Gang. Another rabbit hole I guess! Cool that you played trumpet. Just recorder, bass drum and keyboards for me! Thanks for watching all 3 reactions today. Grateful for your daily support 🙏😀

    THE BLACKBYRDS - Walking In Rhythm 1970s and Spaced Out 1970s are Two of the very best of Funk Soul and Synth Pop songs to ever come out of the mid 70s the first one is also a Vocal song and the second one is an Instrumental or what I would call a SynthStrumental , both songs are incredible and creative in their sound highly recommend this group THE BLACKBYRDS also these two songs are from the same Album mid 70s when Synthesizers were becoming an important part of music 🎵🎶 🎹 I really like these two songs by KOOL and the Gang truly fantastic too.

    To be honest I despised Kool & The Gang back when they were a hit because they were the antithesis of the kind of music I loved...basically Prog Rock (Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis, ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Supertramp, Alan Parsons, etc.). When Punk and then Disco came in, Prog diminished, so I really didn't like this stuff. Now, almost 50 years later, I can stomach it a bit more because there is an element of nostalgia involved, but I still resent the popular music that "killed" Prog.

      Hello again. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this band/genre. Prog is such a top level and strong genre, I'm trying to figure out how it was able to die or diminish at all. Clearly the prog audience was still there, back then and even all the way to this day. Well, thanks for any watch time you gave me on this one 🙂

      Prog killed prog people didn't understand that you could like all kinds of music still be cool I love prog but there are times when you need to dance

    • @rpmfla
      @rpmfla Рік тому +2

      I was never interested in dancing and preferred Prog because I could just put it on and enter another emotional/intellectual headspace, whether I was just chillin', working on a painting/drawing, cooking, or whatever. I like Classical and some Jazz for that reason as well. I guess you could say I use music as a mental/emotional tool unrelated to the physical. I recognized the nature of dance music and why others liked it, it just wasn't my thing. I am precise with my words, so I put "killed" in parentheses on purpose as I know there were other factors involved with the diminishing of Prog, but I have read that the Punk scene in London and then Discotheques emerging in the US played a part in the move away from Prog that some considered too ostentatious.@@cecilingram6018

    "Summer Madness" is a timeless romantic sexy jazzy melodic sonic experience. There's been various mixes of it that's gone on for 15 or 20 minutes and you still don't want it to end. One of the great instrumentals of my generation from *any* genre. That Genie song... Awful. Kool & The Gang have had some other decent songs, but that ain't one of 'em. Shocked that it got the higher rating but hey, just goes to show you how subjective personal taste is I guess.
