#DoctorMix #KORG #SummerMadness
Very simple sound that any analog or VA synth can do, and simply and clearly explained. Can't go wrong with that. 👍
I was there when summer madness was a big hit, we thought it was from outer space. Thank you for showing in a understandable way how it was done.
Oooh, goosebumps on the intro, nice! If anybody had any question as to the sound...it actually sounds better, here in the future. Great work!
I never get tired of that sound :)
And you nailed it!
Kool & The Gang ROCKS!
This ARP was WAAAAY too much fun👍Tony Banks would be impressed....
I'm 20 years old and Summer Madness is one of my favorite tracks. I often get looks from my parents and friends when I play it haha
I love that you got into all the details, and got it completely right - in a 5 minute video. Dannnng.
All he needs are the Baaars...
We have a saying in the hood when this jam drops: "Aw sh*t!"
We also have a saying when Doctor Mix drops his knowledge: "AWW SH****T!!!!" 👍🏾👍🏾💯
Amazing as usual !!! Thanks for your technique and your communicative joy !!!
Love , love, love, this song! Thank you Dr. Mix!
Cheers,and enjoy the gig
*That's awesome man. Hearing this on a great set of OVER-EAR headphones is just... EPIC!*
_PS: I think that even though a lot of folks are familiar w/this old instrumental song, they are surprised to find out that it's actually a Kool & The Gang song!_
Not me.
Not me.
Yeah with my headphones on my eardrums were dancing! awesome feeling.
I absolutely love this channel. You've got a great energy and passion for synthesizers that's contagious.
Happy birthday Dr Mix!!!! Awesome gig!
Dude, i was literaly looking for a video yo get that synth sound. Thank you so much, great video!
I have been hoping you would do this song for a couple of years. One of my all time favorite songs. You are an amazing musician and I’m very much inspired by you!
Kool and the Gang does rock!
OMG you clever boy. One of my fave tunes. Well done. Really really cool Doctor.
Thank you this is the episode I've been waiting for.
Always cool and funky videos. Thank you Doctor Mix !👍👏🎹
Doctor Mix, that was awesome! I've always loved "summer madness" by Kool & the Gang. The bass on that song is also amazing - I think it is a Rickenbacker because of the low twangy buzz. Anyway, love your videos. Cheers!
Thank you Doctor Mix this just made my day Im definitely subscribing
Rocky!
Love that song. So relaxing
thanks for your smile and hapiness you share !!
There's a superb synth solo towards the end of Leon Russell's "Little Hideaway."
Hearing this in GTA Vice City was so cool.
Yessssir! Great job!
Wonderful!! Thank you!🙂
I really enjoyed this video. Very educational
i love the smooth beat, its super mellow.
OOHHH, one of my favorite summer songs and you just teased us with a little part of it. Maybe you could, down the road, do a video of the breakdown of the entire song!! Good luck with you show on Saturday!!!
Thank you for this tutorial. I’ve loved that song since I was a child.
The voice machine of the R2D2 as well. You need to recreate the sound of alien encounter in "Close Encounter Of The Third Kind", the five note theme. :) Modern day digital cameras or cellphone cameras must be handy to save and or distribute the sound patches.
Korg should have put a full size keyboard on the synth.
What a great sound 🤩✨👏🏻
You made my night with this tutorial! I am now a subscriber.
Thanks for for covering the great, but overlooked "Summer Madness". Great content!
Summer ! Summer ! Summer Time ! Dj Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince ! Didn't even know this was sampled !
Your the man!!!! much love & respect.
OMGGG just what i needed hahahah love that song
This guy is so cool, i love every video.
Awesome video, doctor. 😎I’m a huge korg fan and this synth sounds phenomenal. I own a korg volca fm and it sounds killer. Especially since you can easily get sega genesis/megadrive type sounds. It’s a keeper.
Ohhhhh i love this sound
That part was originally played by Ronald "Khalis Bayyan" Bell (R.I.P.) of Kool & The Gang, Kool's brother....
Nice tutorial, Dr. Mix!
You the Man!!!!
Hey Doctor Mix!!!!!!
How are you doing?
Holy cow!!!!!! That synth sounds A M A Z I N G!!!! No joke!!
Its truly beautiful.
That is all I can say to you right now.
Sam🐺🐺
You are amazing!
Beautiful. Thank You. I have to try and emulate it.
Really nice! Keep it funky!
Those oscillators sound so nicely... It seems a wonderful Korg job. I must check with my software emulations...
Eargasm! Awesome video!
you are going to have a lot of fun on that gig, Claudio^^
Smooth!!!
One of my favorite tunes of all time... its in Rocky when he goes back to his apartment. Envokes such a cool 1970s urban vibe.
Love a bit of Summer Madness!
Love that sound. Need to get an analog synth to play with.
Arghhh, that panning. Was too much in headphones 😵💫
I need one of those 2600's.
Such a sweet machine. 😍
Bro I’ve already liked this and I thought this was my first time hearing you play it lol
Normally you are not allowed to touch the kings of funk, but exceptionally the Kool & the Gang allow you to, peace.
Was waiting for the bass to come in!
thats FIRE
I just tried it in Sylenth1, and I got pretty close. Not with two saws, but with one saw and one square (at much lower volume than the saw) and both phase locked because I don't hear the phasing or osc beating in the original sound, it sounds rather solid.
I think its sacrilegious that with a perfect youtube channel such as "DoctorMix" (which I love and adore dearly) about synths and modulators, that not once in all this time I have watched you, you havent done your own take on doctor who theme tune???!!! ;) ♥ Considering its coming to its 60th anniversary in 2023, and was made with basic synths. It would be a nice touch. Yeah, yeah i know copyright and all that jazz but still *sniff* :) :) :) love ya!
shut up omg
Lovely sound. I can think of few 70's detective series that use same kind or similar. Just love classic synth sounds. ❤️
Which ones
@@ocnus1.61 ironside, starsky n hutch.......
For your videos it works this way: first, I hit like, then I watch them.
great vid. made me sub.
Brilliant , thank you that was great ... any chance of some more Korg M1 vid's .. specially on programming & sequencing ...
Good luck with the gig tonight, o revered Dr! Sorry I can’t make it.
good work
Spot on dude
Dr. Mix could operate and fly a spce ship! ;)
And what a gig it was, people, you really missed out if you wasn't there!
I'm going to have to try this on my Hydrasynth later!
Btw I had a great time at the gig the other night! That flute player was amazing (among many other amazing musicians)
🕺❤️
Break a leg on your gig! I wish I could make it. I'm sure you will give an epic performance.
excellent
This is the first song that introduced me to the sound of a Rhodes and a synthesizer. If you asked me what my favorite recording/song of all time, it would probably be Summer Madness.
That hardware sound instantly blew me away, so thick...
You are 🔥🔥 with this, as always Dr. Mix! The comments seem to suggest you are taking requests for recreating other classic synth sounds😅 Please recreate that classic synth used in Raydio’s “ Jack and Jill” intro! That would be 🔥🔥🔥😉
Going to try it on my Minilogue now
...Sorted lol. The hi pass cutoff is white-noisy though
GRANDE DMIX ! SEI SEMPRE IL NUMBER ONE, CREARE UN SUONO E SPIEGARE COME RI-OTTENERLO E' PER TE COME BERE UN BICCHIERE D'ACQUA..;-) KV
Summer summer time.. ❤️
I have the Arturia Arp-2600, software I will follow your instructions to try to recreate this classic sound.
Thank you for your time, and expertise.
I don't use my Arturia software, but thanks to your tutorial, I will try to figure it out.
🔥🔥🔥
YES!!
Hope you upload your gig for those who can't travel all the way to the UK?
memories of gta Vice City!!!
Korg 💪 At 2:49 your example sounds like main sound from “PPK - Resurection”… Excellent 👍😎
Wow! You just made me want to get an Arp 2600 M. Even though I have the software versions on the Arturia Collection 7 & 8 as well as on the Korg software bundle. Nothing beats hardware. Sliding your fingers around a touch screen is not the same as hardware. I hope your sponsors appreciate your commercial value. Love to come see your gigs in London alas I am in Melbourne Australia taking care of my mother who has advanced dementia. I have thought about sending you a video of my mother jamming on my Jupiter X. Completely freestyle. I have been using music therapy to slow down her mental decay. She is the master of improv. It is so cute watching her facial expressions as you can see, she is in deep thought trying to understand what she is doing. Even though she has no idea what she is doing. Of course I help her out by having the arpeggiator on. Only two years ago I had no instruments, but thanks to my new role as a carer and severe lockdowns due to covid I now have quite a collection. I have always loved music and now I have started ever so slowly to learn. It is clear from the videos I have seen we have a similar taste in music.
The Arp 2600
It would be awesome if you could please make a tutorial on how to make the synth lead sound during the bridge for, ‘Talking Heads - Burning Down The House’. The one that’s kind of like a “bow” sound.
Seconded. I've done some digging on that because it's one of my favorite synth sounds too. As far as I could find, it was a Prophet 5 (oscillator sync "on") through a Boss T Wah pedal, but that's all I know. I've gotten it close with my P6, but would love to see it done on this channel!
Bazillion likes in the first 30 seconds!!!
Summer madness is my dogs favourite tune.
nice job. always thought it was a mini moog
Infinite talent - awesome 👍
Hey, Axel F came to mind for some reason 🤔
Vibe cosmic 🚀
Claudio i love the Sound… Signor Rossi.🥰 Music By Franco Godi
Cool to see. I have a Behringer 2600 Blue Marvin, and this is easier on that version because it already has a portamento switch and slider built-in. (sorry Korg XD)
Nothing like the 2600! Except maybe Moog System 55 modular.
Bless kool and the gang love that song my fav of there’s cool.bril song you played that so well.x🙏❤️🎹🎷🧋🪘x
