    The Nortrac trencher comes with short sections of square tubing welded on the frame to store the outriggers in.

    Nice upgrade.
    One thing I did to mine that makes a world of difference. I added a short extension to the two middle hydraulic control levers. They mow set about 3" above the two outside levers. This allows for knuckle clearance. Makes them a lot easier to control with the whole hand, rather than just fingers.

      I used 3" long nuts. I forget what they are called and 1" long set screws, then locktite them in place. Metric of course.
      It really is amazing what these little machines can do.
      Thanks for all the upgrade vids.

    Good idea, I’m going to check it out on mine tomorrow and then I’m going to use a bungee cord around the front claw part then back to a hole drilled in the floor like you have for the old u-bolt mount and that should take out the rattling of the down rigger. I also came up with a idea today to use my two extra tire assemblies when the down riggers are in place so I can move it faster if I need to go more then 10-20 feet with the riggers in place, if it works I should be able to move it around a area with the small tractor and be ok.

    I’m gonna copy that Double M. I also got my extra parts in that you informed us about on the site. My local machine shop won’t be happy thou....lol. They were gonna make them 75.00 but I ordered it for 10.00. Also on my parts for some reason they sent double the parts, 2 of everything and only billed me for 1 of each. That’s right even 2 out riggers for L&R.

      That's great! When I ordered the second set of axles and hubs they never charged me. Copy away, this "storage" for the outriggers was so simple I don't know why it took me so long to think of it. LOl

    Good upgrade. I'm lucky my kellfri already has storage device for outriggers which you just drop into then put pin in they stand upright in the holder's.
    I've upgraded to to new wheels and axle's same as you so making into a 4wheeler that's now easy to tow and makes it quicker to change to dig just need take front wheels off easy. Thanks for your idea re wheels.

      For Brian Harris
      I've had my kellfri for 17months now and it's working brilliant been able to open ditches around my property boundary dug 2small pond's and dug up a few small trees. It's worked in a boggy area where a contractor almost lost a digger back in the 70s trying to open a ditch and nobody was willing to do the work after.
      So I managed to buy the kellfri with help from a friend and I was able to finish the job which a normal machine would not so very pleased with it.
      It's also a very safe machine I've had it on it's side down a ditch 5ft deep about 3ft wide and no danger of it tipping, could do with a seat belt though 😂 only problem was I broke a hose fitting on a tree and broke the plate that holds the side swing cylinder my fault not check bolts which had come loose and only 2where holding plus put too much pressure on trying to move earth side ways should have taken bit at a time. Price was£3564 Inc tax and delivery of 22 miles plus£465.60inc tax for extra set of wheels which make it easier to tow and change from tow to digging. Best decision ever made to buy one.
      Hope this is of some help

    • @roybracy5074
      @roybracy5074 4 роки тому

      That's ok hope message not too long if want to now anything more let me know. Also I'm only using about a3rd of throttle. And it still breaks big tree roots that are in the ditch by the hedge.

      Sorry for delay in getting back to you Brian it seems kellfri don't sell in the USA but an identical machine which I considered but there was no dealer near me is the Jansen trencher which is sold in USA it's about the same price as the kellfri. Hopefully this is of some help to you.

    Hey double M . Thanks again for all your info , time and help. Question for you ? My trencher came with a few bags of seals and O rings - I believe these are a spares if I ever need them ? Is this correct?

    Hey Double M - good friend . Another question? The grease fittings - I bought a needle point grease coupler for my grease gun - can’t get grease to go through it ? What do you use ?

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  4 роки тому +1

      I also had trouble with the needle point type. I use one that is long with a small hole at end but is not thin like a needle point. Can't remember name but I got it at Advance Auto. It fits over the small, ball grease fittings perfectly.

      Brian Thanks , I am way up north New York , never heard of O Reilly - I’ll check it out with that part number. Thanks. I bought a Needle coupler at tractor supply and can’t get grease to go though it , I bought the best grease I could , - a marine grade , off road/ heavy equipment grease - might be it’s just to thick and heavy ? I’m loving the machine - it has exceeded my expectations . Glad I waited the 6 months to get it . I gotta say Harbor Freight was great , excellent customer service .

    Warnings on my new backhoe claim that it is not towable on Highways and public roads. It also claims to have a 35 mph Max. speed rating. Is there a hack that will allow us to add a wheel base to fix that?

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  3 роки тому

      Yea, they put that on them as a liability cover. I have towed mine many times on the highway with no problems. I try to stay at or under 45 mph. It's a lot like pulling a cement mixer or log splitter. I did add a second washer inside the hub on both wheels that took some "play" out of them.
