- The kind people at Think Ford let me take a 2019 Ford Fiesta out to see what its all about, on paper a 1.5 litre engine doesn't sound like its going to win me over but I was genuinely impressed with this mighty Eco Boost powered hot hatch!

I love our mk8 st with the performance pack,as standard I thought it felt a little flat (I've owned a few st's & they've all felt the same) I have had a revo remap and it really brings it alive 250bhp and 385nm of torque
Superb little car, friend of mine has thesame, and he has owned, driven, everything, this car in his words “too much fun for the money”.
And it is, I have had the engine in a 2017 Focus,180ps , that was a super daily driver and mile eater.
There’s a chance I could be reviewing the previous version (1.6 litre) with hybrid turbo & dyno dynamics proven 299bhp 😮
They are great fun even in standard form 😎
Picked up my st2 on Friday with same spec/colour as this one, really loving it. Still got my 172 cup as well.
Sure you’ll have fun it, such a capable engine for the capacity although the Cup will still be good fun when you drag it out 😎
@LM AO its a hatchback not a fucking ferrari
@@Andrew2004 Manners cost nothing.
Just fun to drive.
Great review of a not-too-bad warm hatch. Handling is very nice with the performance pack, and you can have brilliant fun at speeds which don't mean handing your licence over.
It doesn't sound great, and it isn't that fast, but for what it is, it's brilliant.
Completely agree Nik 👍
@@stoneautomotive I think some people are trying to compare it with the class above, which is a compliment to the little ford.
I wouldn't swap my M140i for one, but it's a class (or two) above in both purchase price, running costs, and performance.
140i is a great car though, for the cost vs performance vs daily it ticks a lot of boxes (misses has a 240i 👌)
I wouldn't call it warm at sll.
It's a very capable car and has the performance to rival the i30 N.
It’s bloody quick for a 1.5l car . I had a a JCW for 2 years 2ltr 4cylinder 230bhp and it was quicker but not by much but the ST is more fun to drive hard particularly with the LSD! It’s got the perfect power for B Roads ! Loads of folk modifying them but I think it’s excellent in stock form and I’m not pissing away my 3 yr warranty .
Great review buddy.
Thanks 👍😁
Had my fiesta st 2 almost a year love it, and it has been reliable not a fan of the cylinder deactivation seems a problem in the future and the seats are uncomfortable. But yes I would buy the same car again. Or the focus st 🥰
Hopefully taking the new Focus ST out soon 😁
The seats are uncomfortable agreed. For first 30 mins they seem very snug and nice, but you soon get the fidgets and struggle to find a position that's good. Wish there was some way to reduce the lumbar support as think that's the problem
NICE CAMERA LOCATION
Answer to title... Yes, yes it can.
I ended up getting a Mini Cooper s after trying both,it was close but other than the quality of the mini being better it was the Ford seats, I drive to London often and it’s an hour I couldn’t take in those seats,I’m 11 stone and the sides all over made me a bit numb.
Yea I can see what you mean about the seats, driven a few of the mini GP’s over the year’s and can see the appeal 👌
Can a 1.5 engine really cut it?
Well considering the Ford Fiesta WRC is a 1.6 engine, I'm sure a 1.5 engine can be capable.
Forced induction has changed the game massively for small cc mass production cars - let’s not forget how naff the naturally aspirated 2 litre MK5 Fiesta ST was/is for power output/ CC (this is what I refer to with the 1.5 litre comment)
i dunno if its just me but i think the blue is the wrong blue for the car, it looks close to the chrome blue i think, desert island blue would of been a better choice its more deeper and stands out imo, but then i haven't seen it in the flesh
It is a very subtle blue, agree they should have offered something more vibrant (couldn’t complain as they let me take it out for a few hours - was great fun 👍)
My left ear is screaming
Sorry about that, UA-cam budget back then had some limitations on equipment - listening on the Mac I hadn’t realised I only had audio in one side 🤦♂️
All sorted in the current videos using a Rode-Lav Microphone 👍
Pops and bangs at 9:00 ish never happened i think you may of had the car in Eco or comfort mode still as sport mode opens an exhaust valve?Launch control seems pointless as it hits the rev limiter too soon in all gears IMO,i owned a 2015 ST2 fror a year that car was a bargain but this Mk8 can be specced at 26k is it?you got a top spec in this video even the sunroof included which i love and wish my Mk7 had.
Good review and a fair one i think,i would never buy this car at its current price i would just go buy a used low mileage Mk7 i test drove Mk8 and it is not worth the extra dosh over the Mk7 IMO.
It’s was in the “race” mode most of the day, could have also been the mic not being great on the GoPro 🙈
The MK7 is what I drove previously and as you mention they are still a good little car 👍
Still not keen on the sound, you can tell it's a 3 cylinder, sounds like my mother's Aygo
Sadly all the small cc stuff doesn’t sound great these days, dam emissions ☹️
