Yes, it does sound like a robot playing, but it's all part of the learning process. He has the basics, just needs clearer sounds, and press the notes for longer. It takes experience, and alot of practice to convey it like the recording/performing artist.
It's not Rocksmith's fault. For the most part Rocksmith is just another way to read notes. Reading tabs or music sheets doesn't teach you how to feel either, you mostly need to teach yourself that or watch how some of the greats play. The nice thing about Rocksmith is, especially for a beginner, it sets up the tone for you and eases you into guitar playing and finger placement as well as muscle memory on those songs. There's nothing wrong with Rocksmith as a way to teach yourself, he just needs a little extra practice on the cleanliness of his playing.
Don't let the haters discourage you, for one thing it isn't anyone's business why you play guitar, that shit cracked me up, like you are not worthy of playing the guitar how dare you!! It is wrong how people that can POSSIBLY play better than the person they are tearing down with their hate comments instead of offering advice on how to play the song better. The only thing that you needed to do during the intro and verse is fret the chord and leave your fingers planted until you change to the next chord, this allows the notes of the chord to ring separately opposed to the notes of the chord being played together or strummed. Other than a couple minor mistakes, which probably had to do with not warming up properly, you have a great start to playing a great song. Keep practicing and playing for your own enjoyment or whatever reasons, You don't have good reasons to play guitar that is possibly the most pompous comment I have ever read, people never cease to amaze me. Oh and by the way I am not trying to be disrespectful to the person or persons who made this comment or similar derogatory comments I am just saying share your knowledge with kids who have not lived long enough to put in the hours of practice to reach the level you have. Some tips dude. Your fingers are too rigid. Do some finger streching and practice on those sustains. If you've ever wondered how some players fingers just roll in fluid motions, then you should know you don't skip practice. If it helps try to seperate practice time and jamming time. Your chord picking needs some work too. Your hand gets confused when you mute. Not trying to undermine you, just some tips. Rock on.
I know this comment is 3 years old but I just wanted to add this note since there are quite a few likes on your post. On the comment of my fingers being too rigid, my entire hand is actually double jointed, which i believe can cause my fingers to clamp and lock up. Other than that yeah my chords suck but I'm working on them slowly with each new song. I'm not sure what you meant by my hand being confused by muting, but i'll just assume 4 and a half years after this video that my muting has improved. Thanks for the thoughts.

It's not good "posture", and can slow you down and muddy up the playing. I would save wrapping the thumb around the neck for when you get to an intermediate/advanced level... but maybe you're already there! I know this video is old. Anyway, keep rocking dude!

I've been playing for 3 years and I gotta say learning from a video game not bad at all! Honestly all you really gotta fix is your fingering. You shouldn't be doing 1 finger on 1 note. Hold a chord and pick down. Also tune the guitar a little XD Anyways though keep it up and keep rockin!
IF anyone reading this knows HOW do I view all the songs? My version comes with the 6 bonus songs, HOW can I get to SETTINGS and browse (sort of get a feel of the ) game. I have the PC version. To be honest I think that they had problems with the PC version because they no longer offer the PC version - only xbox and playstation. Is there someplace where they have a LEGEND of how the keys on the computer can make the game do different things - like END session, or VOLUME, or get into SESSION, and other parts of the game. I also remember seeing a choice of screen resolution but can't find that anymore. IF anyone can help THANKS. As you can tell I just bought and installed it. Just now learning... This is one thing I don't like about this... Game? or way of learning? idk, I learned to play this song by going to the school library and printing out tabs, taking them home and studying it them for a bit. You can play the song by holding the chords and just picking each note while letting the others ring. The way this game does it, it makes you feel like you have to pick each note individually, when in fact you can just hold the chord without having to move your fingers so much.
Funny thing. I've played Rocksmith for a good three years and I still learn a song faster with paper tabs and playing by ear then the game. Only way that I could catch the beat is if the song clicked for me with Rocksmith. Via tabs, ear, and patience. I learned a lot more.

You can get custom rocksmith songs on the consoles but you have to mod your consoles to do that.
