    This is helpful, I tried to change washer and its won't stop leaking.
    So, I got new Kohler pressure balancing valves part number GP50520 it cost me around $30 bucks from Kohler store in my town. Now it works perfect, no leaking. This might help you guys who is watching this video.

    Gave me some confidence to do this by myself.

    thanks for making this video. My home repair book mentioned there are disk faucets and cartridge faucets and my faucet is similar to this one, which seems kind of like a combo of both instructions, but the balancer thing wasn't mentioned by them so I'd be really scratching my head right now without your video

    It ended up being a Price Pfister faucet (no branding on any of the parts) so I had to pay the home warranty $75 to send a plumber and for him figure that out for me. I researched Moen, American Standard, and whatever that other one is and none of their parts were right. I didn't know PP still existed. Oh well, now I know and can fix the others if they ever develop the same problem! Still couldn't have done this without your help!

    I replaced mine a year ago because the hot water and pressure dropped in my shower. This fixed it. I've heard that kohler will warranty these for life and swap them out free, though I can't confirm this. Our shower has started to act up again with the hot water being sporadic in temperature and going down after a few minutes even when the rest of the house is fine. So I think it's broken again after a year, which is ridiculous.

    Late reply, but hope you read through the other comments. I'd call Kohler. They can help and you may find that a warranty covers the parts.

    @vibrantjourney Hey thanks yes i got it settled 2 months ago. Turned out it was all the sediments that got stuck in the nozzle. When i shut the water off and turned it back on all these sediments came out thats why. thanks again.

    Thanks the video. After I replaced with both balance unit & cartridge, I turn on the cold & hot water, but the water can't stop running even I turn the faucet knob to off button. ( My cold & hot water supply are beside the right & left side of balance unit.) Anything wrong?

    I was so happy to have found your video. Thank you for posting. I have a question. My tub faucet is leaking. n the video the you replaced the mixer cap GP77759 (I got this number off your pckaging)which does not include the brass fitting (Rite Temp I believe). The Kohler Pressure Balancing Unit GP500520 includes the brass fitting and the mixer cap. On the Kohler website the mixer cap kit GP77759 is $39.50 and the Pressure Balancing Unit is $94.50. Which do I need for leaking faucet?

    Thanks for the video, i am using the same brand in my 20 stories building. My problem is i am not getting any cold water in the shower, spout, sink and toilet. When I remove shower control, mixing valve and pressure balance and then open the shut off valve for cold water, lot of cold water comes but as soon as I put back everything, i loose cold water. Please help.

    A good advice if you can turn off the water from your house. That way you can do everything that you need to do and once you're finished you can turn it back on

    Mine started to drip and not get enough hot temps mix. Took it apart cleaned the mineral deposits and grease the o-rings (2 pairs on two pieces. Valve and bi-valve) with heavy duty silicon spray and it fixed the problem. Saved me a $200 plumber visit.

    • @LuisMenchu

      DaytonCarCare Good info to share. We tend to jump to purchasing replacements but may not need to yet.

    • @DaytonCarCare
      @DaytonCarCare 9 років тому +1

      Luis Menchu Yea if you take a close look the parts. The are pretty basic and (from automotive experience) it's usually the gaskets (or o-rings) that fail and not the part itself. We have a problem with hard water here. Even with filtration it can build up over the years (shower valve is 12 years old). I hate it when the lawn sprinklers hit my car. The unfiltered water spots are hard to get off if left for too long.

    In some places it was difficult to understand the audio because of mumbling, but overall was fine. Addressing the balance and cartridge, it wasn't really apparent that there were 2 parts.
