I've still got my GWL11-US going and have been getting diverter valve errors after the first wash cycle/light. I've been putting off replacing it as I can just power it off and restart the wash cycle and off it goes just fine. I'm wondering if something got caught in there, but did buy a new one. This video was a great help to understand where exactly it is. Many thanks.

The shredded plastic has more than likely blocked the diverter valve.

Just tried this n there not a slot for the screw driver to turn it with. What do I use?

This was helpful -- but the central shaft on mine was too narrow for a typical flat head screwdriver and very stuck! I managed to finally grab an adjustable 6" wrench and get it loose after trying all my screwdrivers and even a drill lol. A few tiny pieces of soap got lodged in my drain, as it turns out along with a wad of hair (of course)--now it's running great again. thanks!!

The tech sheet doesn't detail it ... but the diverter can be operated in diagnostics with the Delicate button. Press it On to engage the diverter (recirculate mode), press it Off to disengage (drain mode). The diverter operates by heating wax which expands inside a closed cylinder to extend a piston for moving the valve, takes a minute or so to heat and shift to recirculate. Up to 3+ mins to cool enough for the return spring to recompress the wax to retract the piston back to drain. Run the pump to confirm which direction is the flow, that the valve is shifting properly. The procedure is stated service info for earlier model GWL10, the first model with a diverter for recirculation. Service techs presumably are supposed to be aware of it.

A good advice if you can turn off the water from your house. That way you can do everything that you need to do and once you're finished you can turn it back on

I could have sworn my drain hose was plugged … until I saw your video! Sure enough, the diverter valve was plugged with (mostly) Aspen shavings that had turned into goo with the water. After ten minutes of cleaning the valve, the washer runs again - 14 years and counting! Thanks 😊

My washer threw a code 37 which means it can't drain. Pump was clean and worked fine. The problem was two coins, a penny and a dime lodged in the u-shaped transfer hose! They made it through the pump but got caught in the rubber hose. Thanks for posting your videos!

what do u do when it just spins and no mater what you do it wont come off, it looks like the top spinning part ontop fused together with the main body with rust.. (could be wrong dono)

I have a 11 year old fisher paykel eco washer that has had the diverter valve replaced twice. I don't know why it keeps failing. There is never anything lodged in them. It seems as if the actuator on the diverter just burns out. When the new diverter is replaced it works for a couple of years then just does not drain. If the board or wiring was faulty the diverter would cease sooner. So, I can safely say that the diverters are problematic.

I had a exactly same washing machine, but one thing I found odd was there’s no a net in the center of the machine like Simpson has, why is that? So how can it catch loose fabric or unwanted dirt, etc.?

I have a Delta system with a drop stopper. The top part that you unscrewed, is attached, as in one piece with the stopper part. So as you can tell by my comment this what you McCall it video does not work with my thingamajig drain stopper

You bloody legend! Thank you so much! I’d always looked at mine and thought it was gonna be so much more complicated. I jus dropped the oil and changed the filter too - it was heaps easier and cheaper than expected. Feel like an idiot for neglecting to change the oil earlier :P

When the what machine is draining the water converts right back into the wash machine what’s the problem

Thanks for vid unfortunately I couldn’t fine this vid no mater how I worded . I pulled out pump and tried and blew out my control board so now that I know I can do a dig mode will try again when board gets in . I will clean out diverter vale while I’m waiting .
