Holy fuck, what a nostalgia trip. I had completely forgotten about this format and it was so damn good. As for the video itself, I'm one of those people that rarely or never comment, but this one was so good so yeah, I think it'd be great if you would like to make more stuff about the history of Dota. Thanks!
I completely agree, the summit was so fun, sad to see we never see anything like it nowadays. Its still relatively common in fighting game tournaments and such, but that's a side-effect of the lack of money/funding
its quite unique where you cant really explain the beautiful feeling early dota 2 was. It was so fucking magical and I can never recapture that feeling in gaming again
I miss BTS so much, there was nothing like it in Dota scene, and there still isn't. BTS introduced so many pros and their personalities in a laid-back setting. Without event like that around its been more difficult to personally care about newer pros in the scene. Especially players from other regions, feels like we know nothing about them. When was the last time you saw pros from different teams chilling and watching the games, just casually commenting. How awesome would that be? Maybe people would start to care about teams like, for example, Gaming Gladiators. True community event.
Amazing video man. I forgot how goofy the first Summit was, and it's deffo nice to see all of this is not lost media. I would love to see a video about the Summit Studio, and how it all ended.
TY BTS. Was so good to watch the early Summits. It had that great feel of the oldschool LAN environment with an incredible production team. Stuff like this is sorely missed by many.
This is the only tournament where I still watch even though its just the caster or player talking. things happening in the background are part of the easter eggs and it was awesome.
Of my 8-9 years of playing Dota, only the last few have I really begun to take an interest in the competitive side of Dota. I never really watched BTS. I always saw the re-runs on Twitch (never watched them) and found it strange. Now I see why: it's more like a show than a tournament. I think that is brilliant. I might go and watch it now :D Thanks for sharing this.
2014 is the peak of dota for me, investors/sponsors propping up the scene allowing stuff like this, super interesting personalities, competitive and fun teams from most regions, i also had hope there was gonna be a dota 2 campaign, and that so many minigames could become popular with how good the game is for development
What if this still exist now? Imagine ATF, Quinn, Ramzes666, Sonneiko, fishman and 9class under 1 roof. Gonna be an awesome bonding experience. Edit: let's add Nightfall and Pure in the mix.
One of the BEST enjoying tournaments I have experienced. Games were fun and exciting. I loved that casting coach, Notail really shined there and Im his fan since HoN times. Good job man
Wish more TOs recognize the value of lax and chill events like what Summit brought to the table. ESL Pro League recently did their shift to be more Summit-like and has been a content hotbed for CS pros and talent alike. The casual chats. The skits. Given other TOs having the stardom and funding, I wish they can tap in this vast untapped potential of chill yet high octane gameplay.
DOTA2 orgs only value tournament that leads up to either Riyadh Masters or TI. What killed The Summit that it has less relevance to pathway to TI which led big teams skipping it, once it happens it struggle to attract viewership with only T2 teams willing to attend. First few Summit was good because it was happens when tournament mostly had prizepool in 100k range and orgs is less picky about which tournament to play.
godz and LD made such a very good idea of doing this it was so fun watching this 10 yrs ago it feels like i want to be there aswell at the time man nostalgia hits diff thank you for making this vid
summit was my favorite dota content in last 15 years, besides few goat internationals... remember that ARDM allstars game where iceiceice got naga then randomed AM with 6 slot agi items :D? The Summit 2 - All Star Match - Arteezy vs iceiceice Dota 2
That EG - DK game casting is the most memorable one for me. I even recall some of the lines Notail and Puppey said to this day. And let’s not forget Xcalibur stepping in for Fnatic and stealing the spotlight in the entire event with his Tinker pulling off crazy moves. But there’s a sad side, too. Fnatic was so impressed with Excalibur so much that they chose to enter the next tournament (I think it was TI) with him instead of Era, their official carry who had recovered by then. This decision sparked controversy and later led Valve to enforce the roster lock.
Mannn I had so many memories from this tournament! The n0tail and Puppey, “So Smart”, the post game look of DK being destroyed by Steve’s (Xcalibur) Tinker. Him standing in for Era and had successes and Era being jealous out of it and feeling left out (a bit of drama here). AND NOT TO MENTION, the Mario Party games that were played in a different room/stream, I forgot. Thanks for triggering this memory man.
Loved watching tournaments like The Summit and Homestory cup during the prev decade. It was the only tournament where we had NoTail hype casting and ranting with and against other pro players. It was a great time. I miss them and LD's casting so much......
i alway wait for the summit every years. when player from difference team cast dota 2 together was hilarious fun haha as the hard fan of godz and LD i really hope the summit will come back someday. :)
BTS was such a trailblazer and a pillar in the Dota community. Not only that they introduced this setup but have also created so much player content with their short skits and vignettes. The BTS house tournament also introduced us to Slacks and KotLGuy. They’ve also made other creative events like BOT TI, a TI for bot players. They single-handedly made SEA region relevant by being the studio that consistently made tournaments in a region often ignored by other Eurocentric studios and organizers. Their knack for a unique viewing experience influenced other studios to create unique tournaments like Midas Mode. LD and GodZ are creative geniuses. In behalf of the Dota community, I salute you for the incredible contributions you have made.
I had no clue that BTS was originally a dota thing, that's awesome. I had seen clips from the iconic house, but I thought it was a smash bros tournament first. I'm so glad LD and Godz created BTS. Some of the best tournaments in all of esports have been BTS. I honestly miss the vibe they had.
i remember one of the players saying it's the best/most important tournament of the year and while the rest of the people in the couch just laugh hearing those words, but you can still hear the faint agreement in their voices i also remember one of the player was so glad they finally made it to the summit cuz they've never been there before and half-jokingly said they want it more than ti cuz they've been to TI twice already
DOTA, CS, and their FGC tournaments are the best, love dota summit so much. Also BTS crews afaik are going with Ludwig, producing his tournament and several shows.
maaaaannnnn. nostalgic af. i want an alienware setup so bad cause of them. also the reason why LD>tobiwan for me and winter/bruno>any analyst up to date.
Bro!! Great video, but I would've loved a holler at the best all-star match. The ARDM match where rtz carried after feeding for 30 mins was epic. Also, icex3 tryhard and EE fake hype plus all the throws. I still go back and watch it on a gloomy day.
Man I watched this in highschool hiding from parents watching on my PC at night. The finals I watched with my brother, those were the days dude. If a chill event like this is on right now I wouldn't just watch it I will make time to go watch it in person
first ever dota 2 event i have ever watched was summit 1 and i havent lost a minute of the stream it was the best event in history of dota 2 god i miss it
I'd like to watch a "How PA's coup d' grace actually works" video especially when he has the 3 stifling daggers talent. Does all 3 draggers crit when a crit is proc'd on cast? Or is the crit separate for each dagger thrown?
Ever since valve pulled the plug and PGL took the monopoly we lost diversity. Imagine an alternate universe where Valve actually had a team dedicated to focus on the e-sports aspect of the game.
It's Valve so it's a bit complicated. In one hand they seems they're taking a hand-off approach with the esports side of things because it's too costly for them on the human resource side of things to do it. But on the other hard, they hired a bunch of people who are involved in esports events stuff and aren't developers so I'm not so sure what's their direction for esports. Their two biggest esports games has been overtaken by their competitors, CS2 with Valorant and Dota 2 with League because Riot keeps supporting the scene actively. I know some people are gonna be delusional, but Valorant tournaments has more viewership than CS2 nowadays.
Holy fuck, what a nostalgia trip. I had completely forgotten about this format and it was so damn good. Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it :3 I had a lot of fun making this so maybe I'll try with some other tournaments/events. Thanks again.
It was the perfect combination of old-school LAN and modern online environment we wanted.
This is peak esports. Thank you for bringing us down memory lane
I completely agree, the summit was so fun, sad to see we never see anything like it nowadays. Its still relatively common in fighting game tournaments and such, but that's a side-effect of the lack of money/funding
LMAO sad, meanehile Dota never have funding problem
@@iPlayDotaReligiously Valve has never had a funding problem. DOTA as an esport? most likely.
@@SillySymphonyXD what are you smoking bro

WHOA!!!THESE GIVES ME THE VIBEZ AND CHILLS BEFORE!!!!OLD BUT GOLD!!!
Anyone else remember the short intro for bts where clockwork hookshots over the mountain. Thats the ultimate in nostalgia

Definitely an unexpected, but awesome video. Thank you Adrian for reminding me of the good old times!
This is the only tournament where I still watch even though its just the caster or player talking. things happening in the background are part of the easter eggs and it was awesome.
You are doing great Adrian, congratulations for your evolution. Keep up the good work.

They need daddy and kuroky to calm these dinosaurs 😂
Add Malr1ne too. The clash of egos would be crazy entertaining to watch
There would be a boxing ring.
Didn't sonneiko and ammar get into an altercation few weeks ago?

They really should do another one of this in the near future. Nice vid btw, I enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

The Summit and TI Hub was the best event in the early days of Dota
imagine ammar going to this and everybody wants to land their knuckles on his face 😂

I remmember there was a short video skit during the summit that was a refference to the ping pong animation. Anyone has it?
